I'm lost at what skull tag is.
its like regular tag, except instead of tagging someone you throw human skulls at them
What the fuck, that loose_moose or whatever his name is IP banned me, another admin, from Andrew's server.
Ohoho I see you have minecraft over here, too. Intriguing. Who else is afraid infinite maps will somehow break the game?
Ohoho I see you have minecraft over here, too. Intriguing. Who else is afraid infinite maps will somehow break the game?
he's backing up the source code
Been playing for a few hours, really getting into the game, got a nice mine and castle going, but i ran into a problem. How do i smelt iron ore into bars? (Or rather, how do i start a fire in the furnace?) Since flint, to be made, requires iron bars, and to make iron bars you need fire, and to get fire you need flint...See where I'm going? How does this work? I've tried torches and that doesn't work. And you know what, while typing this i kinda thought of something...What if i throw some planks into the furnace and then use something else? Am i getting closer? I really have no idea. TL;DR: Need to know how to start a fire in the furnace.
what was it, eight blocks of stone in a circle, like how you make a box? That makes an actual furnace thing I think.
Yeah i made the furnace and threw it in a corner, but now i need to smelt some iron ore into bars, but i don't know how to get fire into the furnace. I don't know much of anything about fire except torches on the walls to keep away the zombies and light up everything.
If anything, anti-aliasing would help to sharpen the 'block' feeling of everything by defining hard edges better when looking at blocks
I don't think traditional anti-aliasing would work in Minecraft. In order to be efficient the engine would need to determine which edges of blocks need smoothing, since most edges are just part of larger flat surfaces. But that would probably be really costly and not worth the slight visual improvement.
Figured the furnace out for anyone that doesn't already know: It doesn't need a fire source, just throw some planks into the bottom, and whatever you want to smelt on top and it lights for you. I wasn't sure myself, thought i needed flint&steel to light it up but you don't.
You can also use coal, it works better then wood.

Besides, as I've said before, the game is supposed to look blocky. If you actually play the game rather than looking at features such as anti-aliasing, it's fine as is.

Then again, it worked great with infiniminer. Maybe a bloom setting that ONLY works on the sky/lava? I know it messes with the style a bit, but it would satisfy the people who constantly message notch over it.

Maybe down the line people can start complaining about graphics, but it's a Java-based browser game, lower standards for it at least slightly.
I figured out the stuttering problem. My ATI card has an adaptive AA option which will put AA on anything that it can from any application, so when I turned it off, bam, Minecraft runs like a charm again and best of all there are no annoying purple horizon lines. [editline]12:58AM[/editline] by the way i tried it because of this discussion so thanks for the unintentional suggestion :h:
how many people here play the indev regularly and have a nice little base/house going? I'd like to share pictures if you don't mind, not just to get ideas but it's cool to see the designs other people come up with. For me, i just throw shit together as i go. What do you do? Do you plan stuff out? Feel like I'm writing an op for a separate thread :o Don't mean to derail but i thought it would be better to stick them in here than make a new minecraft thread just for pictures.

The middle structure is for general crafting and smelting, the left is for cooking meat, and the right is a residence. The stone staircase leads to the lower level below where I originally set up camp and deeper in is a massive underground cave system and lake.

I just had an idea for INDEV infinite worlds, for multiplayer, where maybe it would be possible for people to take their own saves, and put them on their own minecraft "Earth", which would be used as their starting location while all the world is generated around it. And I REALLY hope notch adds snow and ice. And weather cycles, but first we shall patiently wait for him to finish his near-infinite awesome. I mean, snow and ice textures for everything would be awesome, and would add a lot of variety to what kind of place the area you discover turns out to be. Who knows, you might end up travelling across the sea so far, that you discover a huge island of snow and ice without any trees that would resemble a minecraft antarctica.
the textures moire too much, we could probably at least use mip-mapping to prevent the gaudy eye-hurting effect: lavasquiggles :byodood: If anything, anti-aliasing would help to sharpen the 'block' feeling of everything by defining hard edges better when looking at blocks
The word you're looking for is Anistrophic Filtering [editline]03:14PM[/editline] Anti-aliasing is the method of rendering an image twice as large (on 2x anti-aliasing) (1024x768 becomes 2048x1536 I believe) then rendering it on half the screen size.
What does smelting cobblestone into make?
How long is this goddamn night? D:
Also im looking for suggestions. I LOVE this game. but now that I have an impermeable castle, large enough wheat farm, huge tree farm and massive mining operation. i dont know what to to. do torches keep away monsters? I will only see one monster per night IF IM LUCKY. Toss out any sudjestions you got because I dont want this game to become boring so fast, nor do I want to start again. i just want an onslought of monster like I used to get :saddowns: [editline]07:07AM[/editline]
How long is this goddamn night? D:
Not super long. just create a mine from inside your house and during the night mine stones, and during the day build a bigger house, gather wheat/wood/food ect. repeat. [editline]07:12AM[/editline] AND I can NEVER find creepers to get gunpowder! :argh:

But they aer only on my base. they dont even spawn i the dark areas of the map and walk to my base.
You can hit escape and go to options and crank up the difficulty, that may make it more interesting
I want to play indev but I ain't paying for this... It's a fun game, but it doesn't seem polished enough...
I want to play indev but I ain't paying for this... It's a fun game, but it doesn't seem polished enough...
You have to remember that the game is still in alpha. And the price will double once it hits beta.
I turned it to the hardest and still had nothing for two nights. I had to stop after that. It WILL be polished. just cheaper now.
I prefer this one: http://www.echidnatribe.org/Minecraft/crafting.php
Thanks man I didn't know that one
The picture name says Notch. :crossarms:
I would say it would stand for killing other players, but the picture name messes up that idea a bit.
