You're an idiot. Making pixel art from scratch is art.
Copying stupid pokemon sprites that were not made by you in Minecraft is not art.
Making a custom pokemon sprite can be art. But sprites in Minecraft are generally fucking stupid and nobody cares about them.
They still take work to make unless you use an automatic converter and people are free to make what they like so shut the fuck up and have some respect.
Thanks man I didn't know that one
I would say it would stand for killing other players, but the picture name messes up that idea a bit.
Actually it's an uber rare mob that looks like notch.

Mass producing glass for a mysterious construct.
Been having a bit of fun in Indev, but decided to take some time yesterday and make my own skin.

Anti-aliasing is the method of rendering an image twice as large (on 2x anti-aliasing) (1024x768 becomes 2048x1536 I believe) then rendering it on half the screen size.
the lavasquiggle moire was an example for the mip-mapping thought, not the anti-aliasing. I know my example was sandwiched between two AA thoughts :/ Nevertheless, I was talking bout the AA being useful for making the edges of the cubes look much sharper and more defined, not ruining the game's blocky charm... I'd suspect.

much more refined looking stone. 1 block = 1 block, worth it.

Does that guy have a bra...?
Does that guy have a bra...?
Yes.
That's the point.
"that guy" being Notch.
:raise:
you know, as much as I hate evony's annoying broken-nosed lingerie ads, they've been good material for jokes.
Multiplayer and near infinite maps, I die slowly waiting for them. It's going to be SO AWESOME.

Indeed. Plants Vs. Zombies had the exact same kind of ad campaign.

I'll take the zombie, thanks. :suicide:
oh, god, found the evolution of the evony ads... and the last one is only the beginning of the ones we know and love. :raise:

E-mail these ADs to notch and ask if he can put it on the minecraft site for laughs.
I found this on /v/.

He looks like a 40 year old man
That shit always happens an hour after your last save.
Which is why when I find an underground cave I go through the entire thing putting torches everywhere.
I found this on /v/.
-unfunny shit-
why are you there
why are you there
/v/ isn't the stupid part of 4chan
why are you there
Beep beep, last stop for the band wagon.
Because 4chan is funny. Or at least in my opinion.

And always ALWAYS ALWAYS save before going into ANYWHERE that has any DARK FORCES in it.

might I add that saving back and forth between two files is also advisable... I saved with a creeper two blocks behind me about to blow, couldn't survive reloading it :saddowns:

I always make seperate folders for all my lands, because I end up making nearly 200 saves of each stage I go through in their creation.
Notch needs to fix that bug where all the monsters respawn in dark areas when you reload, I've had countless times where I need to roll back a few saves because I forgot 1-3 torches in a place.
why are you there
4chan isn't that bad. Just in a select few areas, most notably /b/.
The other sections are tolerable, and at times, enjoyable.
This is not a 4chan hate/love place......please :frown:
I want more minecraft! :science:
Ever since I played half life as a kid I use two save files. ill alternate between the two.
Except once....:geno:
NEVER AGAIN! :suicide:

Infinitely deep or not?
The engine is very dependant on knowing the highest block on each column, mostly for lighting. Trying to come up with some generic way of keeping track on that in an infinite level is interesting to say the least. It looks like i have to keep track of columns of chunks no matter what i do, and that also means that fixed depth columns would be much cleaner and easier to code. 1000 tiles deep, perhaps.
I will continue butting my head against this a while longer. Figuring this out is difficult and fun!
Changing my development plan for the game.
The original plan was to make Minecraft a somewhat quick thing, perhaps a 6-12 months of work or so (it’s been eight months so far), then move on to other games. I’ve got PLENTY of game ideas I want to make.
But, well, the game is getting popular, and it has a lot of potential for a lot of cool features.
So I’m officially changing my plan now.
After the game is “done” (that is after beta, meaning when multiplayer survival mode works well and is fun), I will continue working on it as my main project, and release regular releases, for as long as the game sells enough for me to live off it.
I might work on other games (competitions, experiments, collaborations) at the same time to keep my sanity, but minecraft will be my definite primary focus until people get bored with it.
Oh, and.. even if it stops selling before beta is over, I will still finish all the promised features. ie multiplayer survival, the dungeons and levers expansion and so. Those are already paid for.

Interesting updates from notch, glad Minecraft will remain his focus.
