There aren't sponges in indev.
fuck indev [editline]05:36PM[/editline] well fuck it I can't afford it
I just bought this, holy shit it's awesome. Day and night, light, monsters that spawn in darkness, crafting mining... I love it. The free version does this game no justice.

But be weary. dont make the game too easy, it will get a bit boring (for me) It took me a while but eventually I had this nice sized castle that couldnt be broken into (stone :woop:) and I wasnt getting attacked. got bored. Turned up the difficulty, and removed some of the torches I had throughout the level and Its fun again.
But be weary. dont make the game too easy, it will get a bit boring (for me)
Not saving your game turns nights from "avoid outside activity" to "OH SHIT WAS THAT A CREEPER I HEARD? :tinfoil:" and it gets progressively worse the longer you play. The downside to this is that when you do die you'll be extremely pissed. Try it if things start turning boring.
Progress update on infinite maps I’ve got a decently fast simple level generator going that feeds an in memory level map with chunks as they get requested, and I’ve got the renderer mostly working for all this. There are a few issues: * If you walk far away from the origin (100 kilometers or so), the ground stats jumping around randomly. This is because the precision on the floating point numbers in opengl isn’t exactly great, and it’s expected. I need to make coordinate system local within each chunk. * There’s some z fighting for similar reasons * Chunks in negative locations don’t get updated at all. * I set the map height to 256 and the fog distance to 128. This means you usually won’t be able to see the clouds. Not good. Other than those bugs (and a total lack of things like lighting and entity rendering), it works much better than I hoped it would this soon. Removing and placing blocks works just fine, and the physics work great even far away from the origin. It’s obvious that a big challenge is going to be writing an interesting level generator. Dense forests, islands, large deserts, abandoned settlements (and inhabited ones later on). Just infinite terrain on its own is fairly boring.
^ Pure sex.
Is everybody else able to connect to Nick's Server with WoM? It freezes for me. http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=9cc8ab1a6bb4451d1f807be5249c713e
the server program crashes every 24-48 hours [editline]01:49AM[/editline] server is back up
What OrDnAs is trying to do but failing at. [editline]02:14AM[/editline] More or less it's the other way around
I just bought it as well, indev was kinda confusing at first, but I looked up on what items/resources to combine together, and it's pretty fun.
My only problem with this is that it would be difficult to spot other settlements by say, climbing up the top of a mountain, and watchtowers would be useless.
the server program crashes every 24-48 hours [editline]01:49AM[/editline] server is back up
It seems Admins and OPs were wiped in the crash. Also I hope it doesn't crash anymore... :saddowns: [editline]09:33PM[/editline] Your server has many problems that I hope to see fixed, Nick. [editline]09:35PM[/editline] Sorry if I seem demanding. :saddowns:
I don't think he's closing the server with ctrl+c. That's what he's supposed to do.
that would explain it
I was playing survival, made a fucking awesome base, had roughly 2100 points... Then a fucking spider pushed me off my tower and killed me. :smithicide:
I am trying something different: Lighting up my entire mine/fort with lava
noscript?
I'm using IE, I never like Firefox's feel. Survial mode doesn't do anything it just displays"Thank you for testing" and the random message below it. Single player gives me a "This game requires java. I uninstalled the old java verisons and reinstalled it. Nothing
I had the same issue [editline]10:49PM[/editline] run an app that needs java or go to a webpage that uses java
I tired BmTron, it didn't work. I play Freeware games on an second hand HP compact, Java's installer is in chinese. I doubt the installer's path is different though. [editline]03:57AM[/editline] I did the test on Sun Micro's site, it passed. Although it still didn't work. [editline]04:04AM[/editline] I do use Spybot's immunization/blocker if it helps.

Aww fuck. Notch is seriously adding NPC inhabited settlements? I hope they're like Goblin/Elf/Dwarf towns, similar to Dwarf Fortress.
