Here is the backup of Venn's, at approx. 7:29 PM Pacific Coast time on the 12th
* Spiders have glowy eyes now

OhThankGod.
* The starting house will only spawn in nice places now. Mostly. ;)
I found it interesting (and useful at times) when your front door lead to a straight drop into nothingness on a floating map. Natural anti-enemy protection :buddy:

Glass is a truly beautiful thing. Also, that gold block with torches is my Minecraft 'Chandelier' You can use any type of block for the base like glass, diamond, steel, etc.
Also, you can check out my map if you really want to. I uniformed all my caverns so that they are easier to navigate for me and I also have a small fort at the top of the stairwell with a farm patch on the roof, safe from creeps.
thank goodness the animals make sound too. It was rather annoying last night, building a massive, well lit cave, thinking nothing can get me... I turn around and SHEEEEEEP!
it spawned in the farther reaches of the cave behind me, gave me a heart attack :v:
...god, things snuck up on me too much.
Also, what's the recipe for glass, burning a bunch of sand I presume?
I haven't played this game in about 2 months, but I'm one of the original testers from before multiplayer even started. Is there anything I should know before trying it out again?
Shut up, you already have minecraft. :buddy:
:ssh:
I've been working on this for about two days,

It really helps to have a massive cave under your spawn.
Progress is very slow.
For those of you who just want to mess around, here's the address to my server http://www.minecraft.net/play.jsp?server=1284ca0292b61b4328bd8ed3c97a563a
I am still unsure if i should buy this. I mean, it's still a browser game and i will probably forget about it after a while. Should probably wait for the standalone. But that might take forever.
I just realized that when survival multiplayer comes out, greifing takes on a whole new dimension.
Scenario:
Guy comes in.
Guy crafts 5 diamond tools of each.
Guy walks into peaceful and happy player base.
Guy starts systematically dismantling structures.
Guy raids tribal chest.
Guy dumps allocated resources into a deep ocean rift.
Guy seals rift.
Guy leaves.
Mass panic.
It sounds silly, but when everyone's in a mine, it could happen.

And that's why I'm going to play private servers with other friends.
Venn's server's spawn seems to have been fucked up, it's filled with yellow, white and brick and seems to be a sealed OpBlock chamber.

Well, from the massive amounts of stone collected from my mine/cave and stuff, I get to turn my little box shaped stone fort into a full on castle. I just finished the courtyard where I will plant trees and plants and grow food. Now I can stop using this dumb dirt ramp to get on and off my battlements.
Hey guys, DarkCybrid here (I got permabanned for racism, lol).
/indev/ is coming such a long way, lol. Except with the last update, Notch broke yet another thing having to do with light. When you have torches, and it transitions from day to night or night to day, the torches don't light anything until the transition is completed. Very annoying.
And that's why I'm going to play private servers with other friends.
When the multiplayer comes out, we should have a secret Facepunchian server.
Link distributed by PM to extremely trusted members with no record of greifing or stupidity.
Recorded members are checked upon logon.
Anybody else who comes in the server will be banned.
Everybody's OP (Because everyone's super-trusted). Citizen arrest.
Profit.

Of course, wouldn't it take a while for him to do that? He'd probably craft a table first, then a wooden pickaxe so he can get to make iron faster and from there he can get to diamond faster. Plus, he'd also have to be in a cave to do this unless there was an unnoticed surface deposit of iron and diamond, which means he'd probably be doing the same things as the rest of the server( having to make torches to explore, etc) until he's ready to strike. Plus all this assumes he's able to stay alive and be inconspicuous.
In short, if there was someone able to achieve all of that, then I applaud him for being so crafty.
side note: He could also try blast mining if he didn't want to make anything other than TNT and diamond tools. And the initial table of course.
But that's what would make multiplayer survival with indev features fun. Come back from mining to find a wall of tnt in your house/castle/whatever and one block flashing.
Woo, bought it.
Now... how do I make tools in the indev? :v:

There is no "griefing" in survival. Everything besides hacks is fair game. If somebody is "griefing", you just kill them.
Crap, I just broke my last diamond pickax and I'm all out of diamonds.
I <3 trolls. You keep me occupied.
"College intensive" made me laugh.
Protip: Don't argue collegiate with someone who works for a college.
I don't give a fuck if you think I phrased it in a funny way. That doesn't negate the fact that I'm majoring in Computer Science and have over 30 credits with a 3.81 GPA so far. I am not trolling and I am not dissing the game. I'm just questioning the programmers abilities. Generally, the bigger opinion someone has, the more of an ignorant asshole they are. Protip: Don't make protips.

This. IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE HEAT, play in private servers with friends.

I'm gonna calm this argument down while we're at this point, I don't feel like resorting to what could end up being troll-trolling. I'm glad you actually spoke up with more than "My opinion > your opinion because" and "I got an A+ in a college intensive class".
I know it was an odd turnabout from simply questioning Notch as a programmer to being questioned yourself, but face it: you acted rather childish in your responses, and things just sank into a rather dirty pit. I'm not sure how you can say the programming is atrocious without looking at it yourself, unless you were bitching about the instabilities of the indev version, in which case there was no point to mock it. It's a lump of clay being molded into a sculpture, why berate it when it's not the final piece?
I think part of our reaction was due to your name being Newbz, your picture being limecat, and your statements being short and vaguely ill-informed. Kind of leads to the assumption you're a 12-year-old youtubaholic.
Generally, the bigger opinion someone has, the more of an ignorant asshole they are.
The more one swears and calls others names as a defense mechanism, the more self-fulfilling the statements become. Have you ever seen someone calling someone else an asshole, and thought to yourself "God, what an asshole..."
Protip: Protips about protips are still protips despite the satire, and are ill-advised due to the possibility of redundant replies.

And, bravo on the GPA, you're doing quite well [allegedly], though 30 credit hours isn't much to brag about... 10 a semester (provided you're on second semester sophomore year, would be impossible to have gained 30 credits first semester freshman and it's laughable as a junior) is bare-minimums, you're required to have 12 per semester to remain simply enrolled at most community colleges... With a GPA like that, you couldn't be failing several credits worth of classes, so I have to assume this to be the case...
[editline]1:11[/editline]
...unless you've earned 15 first semester as a freshman and are WORKING on your second 15 credit hours this spring, in which case you haven't earned them yet and shouldn't be bragging about it. Given the GPA, you'll have no trouble earning them, but if you use that in a resume' they won't like it.

Can't wait for what Notch adds next. [/ontopic]
