Curve is a tool in photoshop, it's what they use to turn night to day.

The mobs are a lot smarter and more aggressive now, it seems. My house is on a hill, and a creeper found his way all the way up from the bottom, jumping from block to block. Despite my efforts he managed to blow a corner off the house. They still get stuck sometimes but you can't just build a house on a hill and ignore them any more.
This may be late, but has anyone opened their inventory while riding the Minecart?

On the other hand the random sounds they make, the skeleton's clattering and the zombie's groaning, let you hear them coming. Maybe aggressive is an overstatement but it's seemingly not wise to leave your house completely unfortified anymore.
Just build moats people.
It'd be nice if there was a drawbridge, as simple as a vertically hinged door... The doors we have only keep them from walking straight into your base, but a drawbridge would get them to fall into your traps or whatever.
