katarina is a better mid than morganna. shes supposed to stack ap.
and you dont HAVE to upgrade boots if you're doing well or have a decent escape mechanism.

Well no, for Kat it would be purely defensive. Ninja/Merc's aren't going to make her stronger, just harder to kill. And if she's not dying a lot, I don't see a problem with not building Tier 2 until you've got core items.
The Rain Man has a Teemo guide on Solomid. I hate seeing so many Teemos in ranked using his build. Seriously, Teemo is so freaking annoying.

Seriously, there is no reason to buy Merc's if you aren't even getting hurt. If I'm taking a lot of stuns/damage, of course I'll pick boots up ... but that rarely happens on Janna. I'd rather spend that 800g picking up an early Aegis and helping my entire team instead of getting that extra boost of speed Janna really doesn't need. I'll almost always pick them up after Aegis and Soul Shroud, but rarely earlier than that (as I said, it depends on whether or not I'm being focused).
I can't vouch for Kat, but judging from her score, I'd trust that she knows when she needs boots.

What was your AP at? I tried Veigar once and couldn't get the farm on minions with the skill that builds AP. I've stuck with Morgana since then, but her damage is sub-par to Annie/Veigar even with a full build at 450-500 AP.

It was low, the only thing I have is 8,5 Spell pen early game, and CDR per level + Mregen runes.
Just learn how much his abilities damage, then kill. ;)

I might try him out, I have all the mage runes I'd need to build him. It's infuriating to see an end-game Veigar at 900 AP.
Then again, he has the single most annoying voice in the game, and I'm not sure I could tolerate it for an entire 45 minutes.

Also, last time I checked you had 19 + wins in ranked, while I had 17. 300 Elo difference, so you just got lucky when you started ranked, while I got dragged down because I was the big fucking idiot that started ranked instantly where level 20's could still play, and that dragged me down quite a lot.
The only thing I can say I know you're good at is farming and last hitting.
