I'm not sure what to build but I do this;
I claim solotop for all my games and start with boots + pots.
Get 2 heart of gold
Then I build these items in random order; Frozen Mallet, Sunfire Cape, Force of Nature and sometimes I bought Youmuu's Ghostblade.
Pretty solid core imo. Should I do something else?

You should prioritize your W more than E and occasionally more than Q too if you're doing well in laning and not getting harassed a lot, since it is your only nuke. And it hits pretty hard too.
You shouldn't get frozen mallet that often. Instead, go with Randuin's Omen since it costs slightly less and gives you a shitload of armor. If you're doing extremely well, a Black Cleaver is also a good option, since your W procs on-hit effects, so thats 45 armor gone right there. Proceed to deal true damage to that Ashe.
Sunfire, Randuin's, Boots of Lucidity, and Brutalizer should be your core, and you should destroy pretty hard.
Also, rush your HoG, and delay the Omen. Then build your Sunfire, then finish your Omen. Of course, Lucidity boots and Brutalizer come first for Armor Pen and CDR you desparately need.
And obviously, your situational Thornmail or FoN.
