So they talk about how awesome the water looks like on the PC but they don't let you see it in the demo ?
What bullshit is this ? I try to view some water but when I get close to it I just get the countdown from 10 and get kicked out of the game.
You can see some of the water at a tiny little spot at the edge of the play area. (In the place you return the witness to)
Other than that, you're shit out of luck V:v:V
we're all waiting for your solution :P
The timelimit has already been solved. You just need to do some effort yourself in order to pull it off.
I know this because I just spent ~2 hours playing the demo :smug:
Stopping the timer is very easy and I will now provide the means to do it, Starting to record a video in a minute.
Only on Facepunch this one guys.
Just buy the fucker you cheap-ass bastards. its out in like a couple o' weeks.
So, y'know, wear loose trousers to make that permanant erection less noticeable.
That isn't really the whole point in doing this
It's not like people won't buy the full game just because the demo doesn't have a timer anymore. It's still very limited compared to the full game.
Stopped the timer, but I want to go out of the map, how did you do it Inacio?

exactly. i'd reverse engineer pretty much anything if it were challenging enough & in demand (and reasonably legal, of course.)
it's the fun of figuring out a little puzzle & enjoying the demo until the full game is out

I'll know whether it's working in 10-20mins. Can't guarantee that it will work.
Sadly I cannot record video but I guess I'll make a picture guide.
*san andreas comparison*
That's completely incorrect. Probably because you included the huge bodies of water on the sides as part of the 1000 sqkm.
The demo area is 35 sq miles. Over twice as big as SA, but it's just a fraction of the desert area.
you're all gonna have to rely on dizzer for now because my attempt didn't work.
but now I can can rule out 2 solutions, so I know something else needs to be changed. process of elimination
maybe, instead of modifying the exe (which is probably a license violation), someone could take the current cheat-engine solution that people are having success with and make a trainer that does it automatically
Hi all!
Just wanted to tell you how to stop the REAL timer with Cheat Engine and not just the displayed counter.
Probably why noone found the correct value in Cheat Engine before is because the timer actually does not decrease, it increases! It seems Avalanche was a bit tricky on this one
The adress seems to change every time so there is no definite adress to lock. It always seems to begin in 1A5 though.
1) Start Just Cause 2, trigger the timer by jumping off the platform. Open the PDA by pressing F1 and check what the timer says. Memorize it, or write it down.
2) Alt-tab out and start CheatEngine. In CheatEngine, browse the processes and select JustCause2.exe. Choose 'Unknown initial value' from the 'Scan type' drop-down list, '4 Bytes', and hit the 'First Scan' button.
3) Go in-game again, un-pause and let some time go by.
4) Again, open the PDA and check how many seconds have gone by. Alt-tab back to CheatEngine and search for a new value, this time a 'Value increased by...' (or, as listed by the program, 'Increased value by...'), and enter the appropriate value (the time in seconds that passed) in the 'Value:' box. Hit 'Next Scan'.
5) Repeat steps 3 and 4 until you find the correct value, usually an address starting with '1A5'.
6) When found, double-click it to add it to the box below. Freeze it and play for as long as you want.
I can assure you that it works. I have played through the demo for many hours and finished 100% of all the settlements.

Quoted because you guys are dumb and don't know how to read a thread.
And that does work, I played the demo for an hour in one session using that.
And that does work, I played the demo for an hour in one session using that.
It's just that people find using the cheat engine too complex and want a solution that involves the buttons "ctrl + c" and "ctrl + v"
Suit yourselves guys. The rest of us cool kids will be enjoying our infinite demo :c00lbert:
Holy fuck, the demo is actually GTA San Andreas map? And original game will be 10 times bigger?
Now that is just mind blowing.

Don't know whether to get this or wait until the last day of Battlefield BC limited edition to buy it (when I get the last $10 I need).
So guys, I've been playing for about 2 hours now, thanks to the Cheat Engine way of doing it.
Have any of you guys gotten the Razorback? Its kind of like a tank, its fucking BAD-ASS. Here's a pic:

( Its in the back, but you can still see me and my mad taxi driver skillz. )
where the fuck do you get the tank???
The razorback is awesome. Just search bases and you'll find it.
I can't seem to get the time limit thing to stop. And with the cheat engine whenever I 4) Again, open the PDA and check how many seconds have gone by. No matter how many tries i give it.
..and for those of you having trouble with the Cheat Engine solution - are you remembering to start with an unknown value search? That's pretty critical. The value that you enter in each search after that shouldn't be the total time elapsed, but the time elapsed since your last search
It is working for me. Luckily, I can use this method to cause my timer to run out. This gives me the ability to quickly test workarounds that attempt to bypass what happens after the timer is done
where the fuck do you get the tank???
If you do the first mission, the pathway to the enemy base will lead you to an outpost with it. If that makes sense.
I found it in the uhh... Look on Skwee's map, a few posts up, its in the base there. The one closest to the Water arrow, and it isn't completed. Heres another pic.
Outside of the Base:

Ta-daa! Epic w1nz:

Alright, now you can thank me. Well i'm off for the night. Hope that helped you get the Epic Razorback. Its pretty fucking resistant if you don't always shoot yourself...
[editline]07:21PM[/editline]
Oh, also, that's were -I- found it, it might not always be there, I haven't checked back yet...Maybe theres only a certain % of it spawning, too..
If you unlock the last vehicle in the blackmarket (That is available in the demo) it has a machine gun on top; If you upgrade it fully to 6 stars, then it has a rocket launcher on top as well. Fucking awesome car.
There is also one that spawns by the little base before the radar station at the biggest mountain.
This froze the timer. No real info on if it actually freezes it or just makes it appear frozen.
On a related note, gave myself infinite grenades by freezing their value. It's hilarious :v:
It freezes it, I just played it for 90 minutes
Picture guide is too bothersome to make so I'll explain it in plain text listen the frick up now kids.
Open you Just Cause 2 and watch the shitty video cutscenes all over again blah blah okay now you are standing there like a dick looking at a transformer turn the frick around and you'll see a huge fall now run off of the cliff so that the timer will start.
Alright we officially have the goddamn bothersome timer now lets put a stop to it, Press ALT+ENTER to make Just Cause 2 run in a windowed mode so we have easy access between it and CHEAT ENGINE which by now you know will be used in the process of stopping the timer and have downloaded it from
http://www.cheatengine.org/downloads.php
Now with cheat engine select a process called JustCause2.exe, You can select a process by pressing the button on the upper left corner with the magnifier on the computer which has happy colours around it.
Alright we have selected the JustCause2.exe process and now we can start taking care of the timer a slow but a rewarding and guaranteed to work process.
Let's say that our timer is now saying 29:55 for example and we need to find it's address to stop it, Let's go to Cheat Engine and run a little scan what you want to do is to select these options
Scan type: Unknown Initial Value
Value type: 4Bytes
Nothing else apart from these needs to be touched, Now press First Scan, You will get a shitload of found addresses but that doesn't matter lets move on.
Now you will go back to Just Cause 2 and play the game for example 4 seconds so say that you played for exactly 4 seconds and pressed F1 you could see that the timer now said 29:51
Now that the amount of time left has changed we can start by the process of elimination tracking down the timers addresses.
Now you must select these options in Cheat Engine
Value: 4
Scan type: Decreased value by...
Value type: 4Bytes
Obviously since the timer's amount of seconds was reduced by 4 seconds we will search for a value decreased by 4 seconds!
Now to find the correct address you must do this same process which is
1. Go to Just Cause 2
2. Play the game for a couple of seconds (Does not have to be 30 seconds it can be for example 4.)
3. Come back to cheat engine with ALT+TAB and use the scan options mentioned earlier to find the address.
So you will probably have only one address left in the list which you got by the process of elimination scanning and scanning till you found the right one. now press the red arrow button and the address will be transferred down to a bigger list.
When you have the correct addresses just press your second mouse button and click on freeze all values to play forever.
