So what was the point of releasing on a weekday again?
I mean, there has to be a reason for it.
Is Tuesday also the most profitable day?
The time between each game completion is decreasing very regularly. Here is the amount of time between each game completion, in hours:
15.56
9.05
6.95
6.2
5.3
This data, when graphed, fits a power regression model very well. You can find a fitting equation using your graphing calculator. Then, using this equation we can predict when the next game will finish. My last prediction calculated game completion at 22:32 GMT, within 6 minutes of when Toki Tori actually finished. Here are my current predictions using this model:
Next game completion will occur at 03:14 GMT (7:14pm Pacific)
All games completed at Mon 23:53 GMT (3:43pm Pacific)
Ok, so BIT.TRIP BEAT will be done ~9:14 PM EST and all will be done at ~5:43 PM EST.
Damn, I had hoped Portal 2 would be released early Monday Morning. But something can always happen to change the launch, right? :)

It's when US stores do their counting so Publishers get a good idea of retail sales.
EU stores do this on a Friday.

It's not really rigged. Each game we complete reduces the time until it's release. Also, if/when we are to complete all the games, it'll be released right then and there.
^Friday makes more sense but at this point I'm used to Tuesday.
Hey guys, has anyone come up with a new weird-ass theory which includes some random numbers? We need a new number to wait for. :unsmith:
They should have released Portal 2 on steam before they shipped out to stores, this way it would:
1. Give heir loyal steam fans a treat
2. Prevent these GOD DAMNED leaks.
Anyone else notice how we got almost nothing out of this? Some stores are opening sales on Monday, most stores give people an extra skin for Co-op, and we got... 4 hours early.
After massively organizing hundreds of people to do things...
WOOOOOO

There is no evidence that says finishing all games releases it right then.
For all we know we can only reduce X amount of hours.

If they released it on Steam like that they would have an unfair advantage over brick-and-mortar stores, as well as online retailers like amazon.

Oddly enough, I dont think we have nearly as much influence on when games complete as we think we do. Take a look at the graphs on this site:
http://cpucount.zapto.org/
Use the overlays to look at the graphs for games we have already completed. You'll notice the green line, percent completed, always rises at a very regular rate, despite actual player counts (cpu lines) rising and falling wildly. Also note that as one game completes, another game speeds up immediately after.
If percent completed was simply a direct product of players playing the game, we'd see those green lines spiking and plateauing according to the cpu data. However, it appears to me that it only has a very small influence on overall completion, hence why this data fits a mathematical model very well. The percent completed is a product of some equation valve has created, influenced only partially by our participation.

Actually... Doc... About that.. I broke the flux capacitor when I crashed into a bill board when going back to 1986.
Also, Portal 2 will be fun.

That's pretty much all marketing is... Getting an unfair advantage over as many people as you can to get as much money as you can.

Your right, we do have influence though. Very little. You can see the line getting steeper as more people are oiling, then falling again ever so slightly

and honestly no one gives a fuck about brick and mortar stores anyway.
they're the reason we have 60$ games everywhere.
So...this is what...the second time Valve gyped us? Right after the Golden Wrench catastrophe?
At least we've got that. Valve's only screwed up twice. They have our best interests in mind 95% of the time.
It could be worse. They could be like Activision and rip us off once a year.

I dont see how this is "screwing us" considering they are giving us the chance to release portal 2 early.

I guess you're right there. Their still MUCH better than others. But I think that's mainly because they are a privately owned company, no need for dickhead publishers.

More than twice but still not much. I mean, TF2 has been pretty much going downhill for a while because of a few bad decisions by Valve.

To be honest I'd have been happier with the solid release date. This uncertainty of when it's going to release is causing way to much excitement, then disappointment. It's just not fun and my weekend was pretty much eaten watching this thing in hope of something happening, and all for what, a release a few hours earlier?
We do Audiosurf next right?
I guess so.
That's the only one I can contribute in :buddy:
