No literally, it might. 450k potates might be enough to boost up the power IF aux is turned on. By the looks of things, it ain't.
Still :niggly:
we won't, it's a stupid and terrible theory.
You know this how?
we won't, it's a stupid and terrible theory.
You think we will complete 6 games until Portal 2 release? It's not possible.
we won't, it's a stupid and terrible theory.
Why would you think that? Aux power might just be the juice up we need! [editline]18th April 2011[/editline]
Still :niggly:
Yes still. We need some evidence. But by looks, no aux power activity has been shown during this whole ARG.
Valve is spreading the "Stop playing" rumor. The game isn't ready to be released and now they need more time. :v:
I think it's a good idea to get good evidence for this claim before you tell everyone to stop playing, because if you're wrong then we would have wasted valuable time.
Yesterday, when destination was Cogs, I saw, that less CPUs gave more power. I already poster screenshot about this 40-50 pages later.
Can anyone post an old version of the thing on http://www.aperturescience.com/a/b/c/d/g/h/abcdgh/ Because I swear the third line wasn't there before...
09:00 – Hello again. 09:00 – I’ve been waiting a long time for this. 09:00 – I know it’s arriving later than expected. 09:00 – But I have a message for you: 09:00 – April Fools. 09:01 – I’m joking. 09:01 – Seriously, though: 09:01 – You’ve been surprisingly competent at 09:01 – generating electro-chemical energy to jumpstart the system. 09:01 – But now we need raw computational power 09:02 – to speed up the reboot process.
Wasn't the potatoes comfirmed to be a multiplier, no? Also, when loading Audiosurf, right before the dialog a link pops up in the right top corner and it says "Click here for science!", nothing happens if you click it.

I might be wrong, but here's what I think: We've been doing this thing for soon three days, nothing at all has changed, the potatoes are growing, but are seemingly doing nothing. We can all sit around and hope 500 000 is the overclock mark, we can try something new, or we can continue at this snail pace towards maybe another 50 minutes early release. If you guys have any other suggestions for new stuff to try, then please go ahead, but right now this is it. Valve could have known we'd grow tired. Hints are suggesting we stop playing games. We're going to get nowhere without a bit of risky playing, that's how games work, and this is a game.

For gods sake people can't you see The impossibly high limit was set in there for one reason, to trick us into thinking we could actually make it. We need to shut down as many idlers and players as possible, and only THEN will the bar actually start moving at speeds that are acceptable.

I suggest we all go fap in the meantime.
if it isn't then we wasted how long? :v:
No idea, but there haven't been any significant changes due to both Aux and Raw power.
The AUX power kicks in when the game is originaly supposed to release.
Can someone post this in wiki?
For gods sake people can't you see The impossibly high limit was set in there for one reason, to trick us into thinking we could actually make it.
The AUX power kicks in when the game is originaly supposed to release.
OR after Raw power is cut.
Here's the deal: If we try, we might get it 1-3 hours later than if we continue at this pace, but we might also get it quite a bit earlier. I know nothing though, you have to look at all of the evidence yourself and make up an opinion.
I think you're reading the bar wrong. The bar isn't about how many CPU's are playing, it's about how many hours the game has been played. The less CPUs gave more power is probably because people had quit the game and the hours they played for added up to the bar.
That would suck, suddenly those 5000 people who have been idling for 3 days in KF leave the game on Tuesday and it gets a massive boost.
Quite right. No way KF in 20 hrs.
Actually, I'm checking the KF bar with the scripts, and the hours until completion are ticking off in minutes real-time. Something isn't right, it seems that the more we stop, the faster it goes.
Here's the deal: If we try, we might get it 1-3 hours later than if we continue at this pace, but we might also get it quite a bit earlier. [editline]18th April 2011[/editline]
Actually, I'm checking the KF bar with the scripts, and the hours until completion are ticking off in minutes real-time. Let's see what happens if we don't play for 3 hours
The AUX power kicks in when the game is originaly supposed to release.
Well we're already ahead, so it matters not then.
Hum. Do you seriously think that Valve want us to stop playing ? It don't make any sense. They just want us to play, or better, buy the Potato sack. What kind of video game compagny want theirs players to stop playing ?
EVERYONE SHUT DOWN YOUR POTATO SACK GAMES, CEASE ALL IDLING AND POTATO HUNTING EFFORTS ON GAMES THAT ARE NOT COMPLETED YET
Emphasis was needed.
"Ugh...all cores stolen...shutting down in 5...4...3...2...1..."
