If we stop giving the cycles, then the system will have to use the potato power to overclock its own processors to keep the boot going.
Basically, out theory states that if we were to stop playing all games, the thing would run on auxillary power and go faster. Correct?

They've not stepped into this ARG at all, only some of the games are a deal, most of which everyone had anyways, TF2 hats are retarded, and the ARG was cool, it could have ended there and it would have been fine, but they've trolled everyone into "playing" these games that they're not even playing anymore.

Usually, a system that has a aux power supply will activate it at a certain point. Not when all power is gone. It is meant to keep something running. Not have it kill over then start up.
