I'll try this but I feel that the "Cops and Robbers" gamemode might give me more of an adrenaline rush. [editline]14th February 2013[/editline]
oh goodness, imagine if when gta v came out it got a dayz mod
Yeah, this is what I'd probably wait for :v:
I remember playing in this server I wanna play again, but damn, i can't play SA anymore ever since i removed Securom.
oh goodness, imagine if when gta v came out it got a dayz mod
We need one for GTAIV first, I don't think we can even do custom MP gamemodes with peds in GTAIV yet.
We need one for GTAIV first, I don't think we can even do custom MP gamemodes with peds in GTAIV yet.
From what I remember you can, but stuff like dead bodies are client side, which would make looting bodies in a game like this difficult.
We need one for GTAIV first, I don't think we can even do custom MP gamemodes with peds in GTAIV yet.
There's IV-MP, but it still has a long way to go.
oh goodness, imagine if when gta v came out it got a dayz mod
We should start a petition to get Rockstar to make a zombie DLC for V, like they did with RDR. It wouldn't even be extremely hard to do, unless they make zombie-related missions and redo the entire city to make it look burnt and destroyed. Once that comes out, I'm sure that someone in the modding community can add looting bodies and audio-visual detection.

I'd love to have 100-150 square miles of land to explore, looting bodies, and adrenaline pounding player to player encounters... 200 days is so far away
So me and my friend were at it again. I was already in San Fierro, and he had spawned nearby I was near the SFPD, waiting for him. I decided to make a group and invite him (you can see eachother on the map this way, FP group would be cool) I turn my camera around; Someone's sneaking up on me, he pulls out his gun as soon as I turn around I freak out as always and open fire, he dies. When my buddy finally gets there we go to the base next to the SFPD There are two Humvees, but they're both broken. I hear gunshots, and my friend tells me someone killed him. I try to sneak up on whoever it is, but can't find him. My buddy spawned near mt. chiliad and he decides to climb it. I head towards mt. chiliad and arrive when he gets to the top. I wait for him at the bottom, when suddenly an airplane falls next to me and explodes, but there's nobody in there. My friend had pushed it off the top of mt. chiliad :v: I give him one of my maps, this is when I see an ''S'' on the map, we decide to head towards that. On our way there we meet someone else, a friendly. He tells us the ''S'' is a shop and continues with his journey. Me and my friend take a shortcut through the woods. It was filled with dead foxes, wolfs and (to our surprise) bears too. We sneak through the woods in order to not draw attention to us. We end up in somekind of farm, where we spot two other players (one with a bandit skin) We sneak past them and try to get as close as possible. Blue screen of death My immersion
after you know where to look ammo doesn't really ever become an issue
like, everywhere?
And to clear this up, no they wont. As long as they are still alive on the map and have moved away from their spawn. They wont despawn. When they are destroyed however they will when the item refresh happens.
You sure? because we left out helicopter on top of the highest building we could find when we logged out. I figured it would have despawned by the time we got back on, so I don't care about the loss as much. It just seems weird that someone who already has a helicopter would come along and take it. We didn't even have particularly valuable supplies in it.
fuck imagine a DayZ version of RDR the zombie models and animations are already in it instead of oil and cars you would have hay and horses damn that'd be sick also hunting would be a great source of food
Day 1. Joined the Portuguese & Brazilian DayZ server, spawned at the north end of Bone County. I passed over the hill to see an airplane graveyard. It was already dusk, so I decided to take shelter inside the airplane guts. Shortly after finding a can of beans inside of the plane cabin, another survivor rushed inside with half a dozen zombies right behind him. He attempted to attack me from behind with a knife, in hopes that I would have some sort of barricade he could steal. However, I had moments earlier found a pistol, and managed to shoot him in the chest before he escaped out the window. With the zombies swarming behind me, I followed him. However, a squad of bandits ambushed the both of us, killing him, chasing me into the hills. His friends were in pursuit, and I lost them by hiding in a truck while they ran past the area. Being in the middle of the desert, I had no choice but to secretly tail them to their destination. They finally stopped, at sunrise, at the entrance to Area 69. They started attempting to breach the barricade with explosives while I found the corpse of a sniper conveniently nearby. Taking on all 4 of them at once seemed like a bad idea, so I waited until they infiltrated Area 69 - after this, 2 of the bandits found a gutted helicopter, which they started collecting parts for, and the other 2 went down into the underground bunker. I snuck past the the two repairing the helicopter and went into the secret base. The work had already been done for me; The two well-equipped bandits had breached all of the security doors, slaughtered the zombies and groups of survivors trying to hide within, and left a clear path of carnage toward the storage room. I used my ghille-suit stealth skills to get past the bandits and nab some armor and sniper ammo from the supply room before they noticed me and started shooting at me. I ran out toward the entrance, managed to heavily wound one of the bandits chasing me, and found a bicycle near the warehouse. They had repaired the broken helicopter and pursued after me and my bike. By steering swiftly along the cliff formations, they managed to crash their helicopter right into a rock and tumbled into a canyon. They did land a few hits on me, so I was hurt bad. I peddled to Fort Carson, where another group of survivors was recently ambushed, and had left behind a hearty sum of medical equipment. My bike was destroyed in the process of retrieving them, so I set out on foot toward San Fierro, in hopes that I could find allies. After reaching the Gant Bridge, I found a beached boat laying on the coast. Anyway, after climbing in, to my surprise - it was actually functional. So I pushed it back into the bay, [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/900988606670797422/F3C107DBC6683B01ADA30B17C3FAF95952B01E06/[/t] And rode it to the San Fierro coast. [t]http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/900988606670798724/B767ABF5D76991C2DE01C4D57D58B3D22AC705ED/[/t] Upon my arrival, I attracted too much attention by playing La Cucaracha on the boat horn. A group of friends decided that they want a boat and started shooting at me from the bay above. I evaded them, but I was bleeding out fast, and nowhere near a hospital. So I did the noble thing and quickly disconnected. If any friendly Facepunchers are on the Portuguese/Brazilian server, I need medical attention in the East San Fierro bay. If you help, I'll let you ride on the party boat. [t]http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/900988606670903676/7CFC53EF424942FE0F4A5EB2C30836E418947E0D/[/t]
Im getting like 0.5 kbps when downloading that 80mb file, solution?
Anyone know of good vehicle spawns? I was running around LV on the UIP server gathering so much gear and looking for a vehicle (and no one is about, like there's actually 0 people in the city) to no success. I saw one guy running down a road but I wasn't going to kill him, no need, he (I think) didn't know I was behind him watching. I don't play like that, I play to survive not death match so I left him alone. So again, anyone need of good vehicle spawns? There seems to be no vehicles in all of LV. Also story time - on the MTA Day Z server UIP Europe: Spawned near the shore out in the forest near some isloated buildings, ran about getting some gear like a rifle, pistol, backpack and some other essentials. I just run about looking for something interesting and I find a deserted town where I attempt to gather food/drink to no avail so I just run about looking for resources for a few minutes, only finding empty soda cans. So, nearing death by thirst I just run about and come across MT Chillad (no map) so I climb it for some time until I find two bothers, one a stand skin and another a sniper skin, neither had anything good, sniper skin body had like a lighter and radio device I took from him. I continue up the mountain until I reach the very top and find a crash miltary helicopter (I was disappointed, really. I wanted it to be an actual working helicopter but instead I got a shitty crashed one) and search it: Heat-seeking RPG with one rocket, parachute, skin, some weapons and ammo but no food/drink so I realised I was pretty much fucked - I was out in the middle of nowhere with nothing to survive. So I took the gear, dropped the parachute (or took it I had no idea) and jumped off the ramp and killed myself. I spawned near my previous spawn on the beach, I was pissed as hell but there were two guys there as well: Jetta and some guy with no name just standing there, they must have spawned there too. Jetta says hello, and then asking if I am Spanish I think to which I didn't answer. After that we all just run up the small hill near the beach and I am still annoyed that I get the same shitty spawn, so when Jetta and no name go somewhere (no idea where, didn't check) I jumped off the hill and fell to my demise. I spawn near LV, or in it more, near the shore of course. I run about getting all this high level gear, alice then a coyote backpack, rifle, ammo, meds, more guns (spas12, uzi, deagle), map, watch, pretty much most things you would want. Then I wanted to find a vehicle, so far no one else was in the city but that wasn't going to last. I looked about the main roads - EVERYWHERE - there were no vehicles (GG no vehicles what the fuck). I ran near the LV airport following the road to the right and looking down the next road, seeing as guy perhaps in an army skin (not sure) but I didn't want a fight, I wanted to survive so I left him the city to loot alone. No vehicles, no idea where to go for vehicles, all this gear, I go near a warehouse of sorts and quit before a zombie is about to attack me. And then I wrote this. So I ask you Facepunch: Where are the vehicles?
I usually always find a vehicle in SF

It shouldn't despawn but knowing how terrible this gamemode is coded (it shits errors everywhere constantly and the maker says this is "acceptable") there is a likely chance they might be despawning, but I don't really understand why because patriots, bikes and tents dont appear to be affected. Also the guy who made the gamemode is apparently selling the non-obfuscated versions, don't really know if its worth asking, because if he still is it means we can edit the vehicle spawns, add more vehicle types and a lot more (if I can find someone who can understand his god awful lua code)...
Me and jeffreycross used to have a bobcat clipped that we used for storage and that despawned. Nobody could have stolen it, it was clipped into the terrain.
Ok so clearly there is something up with the vehicle spawn system. I'll look into it tomorrow (well later considering its fucking midnight).
Im getting like 0.5 kbps when downloading that 80mb file, solution?
No solution. It's not an 80mb singular file. It's a ton of small .lua and .xml files. MTA has no compression for scripts, so they get sent slowly, 1 file at a time. Edit: It will speed up when it gets to big files. I've tried to influence the devs to do some form of compression like gmod to no avail.
Whenever I log into the FP server, it redownloads the same map files, is this an abnormal thing or am I just really uneducated in how MTA works?
It's normal. Anyway if anyone wants to play with me later I'll be in the UIP server, pretty sure that's one of the offical servers.
There's a few maps that pinpoint some areas, hold on I'll upload the most updated one I know of: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8bYfaGDhGkYUnhKblMwUjBWU1E/edit?usp=sharing. That's the most up-to-date I understand. There is the Busta map but that doesn't show vehicle locations and another map like the one above but less updated. Just replace the default map in the MTA folder to this one and there you go! I have yet to use this however so I cannot confirm any locations but it should all be reliable. I got it from the MTA DayZ forums. P.S. It seems that the map is a bit messed up, let me check up on that. Updated: Removed the white empty space that fucked up the map, you should actually be able to follow it now. Also this doesn't everything located on the server, just the ones the creator knows about.
Ok I'm just gonna say this again. Marwin, the guy who made this gamemode has stated that for a price he'll give out the original uncompiled/non-obfuscated version of the gamemode meaning it can be edited fully. I want to know if its going to be worth it depending what he's asking (if its fuck all like $20 then I wouldn't be arsed about it), this will likely also help us pin down the problem with the despawning vehicles as well because currently, I know what's erroring but I can't bloody see the line it references.
are there any boats? i havent found any.
There are boats.
In the server now with 3 other people. Damn, this can be quite fun sometimes. [editline]15th February 2013[/editline] Oh god I only have 991 in blood level [editline]15th February 2013[/editline] Found a Deagle
Hahaha fuck off.
There are boats.
yeah!, i know that now, i found one near the tierra robada lake.
Wonder if he'll reply back to me, I'm offering much less but the guy clearly has a superiority complex going on so he likely wont. :v:
what a dick, not even rocket charged
what a dick, not even rocket charged
Indeed, and really I only want into like 3 maybe 4 files of the gamemode, it's possible to remove the obfuscation but its just a real pain in the fucking ass and then there is the matter of his joke of a terms agreement.
