Me and PieClock just finished this morning, did an all nighter. We got the game for free by buying Simcity. Was a good experience.
Anyone wanna do some lean mean impossible coop action on the PC? I just beat it on normal last night cause i couldn't handle solo impossible, but i heard the coop was pretty damn good and in solo i skipped a lot of the bonus missions. steam is KENNYSEASON2 [editline]29th March 2013[/editline] also is it just me or are the suicider guys like really creepy. nothing in the game really struck me as horrifying or scary as much as it was really tense and the necros looked sick, but whenever i heard one of the suiciders babbling i was back in a corner terrifyed, waiting to see its bomb thingy [editline]29th March 2013[/editline] p.s. what weapon combos did you all sport? I rocked a rivetgun/linegun and a rocketlauncher/smg did some mad fucking damage with no problems at all
holy ass bullpup rifle + evangelizer shotgun its not even fair
I'm rolling with an evangelizer shotgun with forcegun lower and my secondary is currently a compact rivet gun with machine gun lower. Haven't found a more favourable combo yet that gives me decent ammo consumption and damage from the very beginning of the game.
I'll recommend 2 secondary/under barrel weapons: Flamethrower, especially with the tip that creates afterburner. It has short range but crazy damage with few upgrades, slap stasis coating on it and nothing will touch you. Chain lightning gun. Perfect against Feeders and with few damage upgrades can clear a whole room of enemies with one shot. Since stasis coating applies more of the freezing effect the stronger the shot is it's a good choice here, too. Anything that survived the first shot will be slowed down long enough for you to fire again. Just be aware it's completely useless against Regenerator.
i actually thought it was kinda weak that my guns were probably powerful enough to blow away a regenerator and yet they couldn't... seriously that should have been something they put in the game. obviously you couldn't achieve it on your first playthrough, but it would be cool to have guns so powerful they basically vaporize the target. which brings me to another thought i had.. about dead space 4. instead of just the limb mechanic they should simulate the gore realistically. so instead of just gibs popping off necromorphs you're shooting actual bits and peices off of them. imagine how awesome that would be. basically dynamic dismemberment, kinda like how they did headwounds in soldier of fortune 2 (if you don't know what i'm talking about go play it, kill someone, then just start shooting away at the corpse's head. if you shoot downwards onto the crown of the skull you can actually blow away the person's head from the top down bit by bit.) but it would be fuck awesome with necromorphs if they had some kind of euphoria animation to it and any part could come off of them from anywhere. and stuff like shooting a leg just enough that when they put pressure on it to step forward it breaks out from underneath them. also because necros are dynamically torn up their movement would be completely unscripted for that. and they could make it so necromorphs never actually die, you just break their body so much they aren't a threat, or you just turn them into paste somehow. that's actually something i've always wanted with the series. in fact i thought that the enemies would be like that. that they're simply unkillable and combat is basically rendering their bodies useless. they never actually die because they're just a mass of pissed off tissue
Well, I always wanted all necromorphs to act like the alien from The Thing where every bit of the creature is a living being. We had an enemy like that in DS1 and DS2, the Divider. I would love that, but it would go agaisnt the whole cut off limbs mechanic.
I really liked dead space 3, not for the 'survival horror' aspect, but for the fact that at the start of the game there was ammo everywhere so I causally blasted ammo, used medkits a lot, and when I got to the end of the game I practically got fucked in the ass from running low on health and ammo and my god did I love trying to desperate craft more ammo from scrap metal and making better guns. Currently replaying each chapter over and over to farm resources while trying to collect all the logs and stuff. I found the game is by far much more enjoyable in coop- especially with the additional enemies. In DS4 I'd like to see more engineering. He's an engineer- yet very rarely does he show it off, it's mostly just using his kinesis module. Also I found that despite it supposedly being 'faster paced' I've spent more time aimlessly drifting around space and exploring wrecks that I have playing DS2 from start to finish.

[media]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z38tZPxDekw[/media] but instead of robocop's former self imagine a necromorph.
So what now? Mankind is a interstellar empire, or did everything go to hell with mineral crunch that we effectively only have Sol? [sp]also its painfully obvious that this DLC was just in Isaac's mind while he is unconcious. He and Carver are somehow alive and unscratched after falling practically from orbit. Ellie isn't mentioned at all and the Moons somehow reach Sol in really, REALLY short time (probably within couple of hours after Isaac has awaken.), somehow even being faster than a jump-capable starship. Too many gigantic holes in this.[/sp] But I really liked how [sp]Isaac started questioning if he was alive and if this is what people see when they turn into necromorphs[/sp]
Goddamnit now my interest in the story of Dead Space 4 is piqued even higher. If the events of Severed [sp]really were a dream of sorts[/sp], where the hell are they gonna go with DS4; is it gonna be like what happened in DS2 with the two being captured and have Marker info extracted from their minds again?

Bada-bing, bada-boom, [sp]one of the moons turn up[/sp] and you escape to another system. [sp]Where you do some salvaging & jolly good cooperation with the remains of earthgov and go cyclonic torpedo on the moon's ass.[/sp] Alternatively, everyone dies but humanity survives.
Thing is, since it was evidenced that there have been aliens in the past with the ruins on Tau Volantis, I'd still be up for mankind having a "first-contact scenario" with a "modern-day" alien race, one existing in the same 26th century timeframe, possibly one that was immune to the Infection whilst the planet's wildlife was not. Also, I'd still be interested in a Dead Space game that plays out similar to John Carpenter's The Thing, with an insidious "Genestealer" strain of Necromorph that hides inside people, being indistinguishable from normal people only to pop out horrifically when discovered or exposed. Actually, couple the "active alien civilization" element with the "infiltrating Genestealer strain" element, and that'd certainly make for a cooler game, right? It could be more of an investigation, subtle horror, as Isaac tries to find the Genestealers in the alien research base before it can escape and infect the galaxy by uniting with the [sp]Brother Moons[/sp].
Visceral really put themselves into a corner unless the events of Awakened are mostly hallucinations. [sp]If the Moons are really in the Solar system and given their current writting in DS3, I can only see them coming up with some deus ex machina device. I think it would be much better if Isaac stopped being the hero man and focus the story of DS4 on him and Carver trying to find Ellie in all the chaos above and on Earth. End it with most of humanity dead or forced to escape to some far away colonies.[/sp]
