And I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but the Ripper seemed completely useless in DS3. At least against the tougher enemies, even on Normal.
Just keep your distance. I take down wasters quickly with hydraulic knife, then when the torso falls off, I use ripper to take down the tentacles.
I only tested the rivet gun in the weapon crafting area but it seems to be the Plasma Cutter of DS3. I'm pissed they nerfed the cutter to hell. Flamethrower at least still kills everything quick but I miss my huge clip size (which applies to almost every other weapon). And I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but the Ripper seemed completely useless in DS3. And then she got eaten by Necromorph Kids.
seriously though I thought the Elementary school was hillarious because A.) the developers have clearly never seen an elementary school, what the fuck was up with the colour scheme B.) I've never seen something try SO HARD to be poignant what with everything you step over being crayon drawings and pictures of happy kids and shit like that and having you run through all these happy smiles while curbstomping children I love Dead Space 2 but that was just plain silly
It wasn't elementary, it was a pre-school. [editline]3rd March 2013[/editline] And I don't think "poignant" was exactly what they were going for. It wasn't supposed to be depressing or anything. The silliness was most likely slightly intentional.

if there's one thing I'm willing to admit DS3 didn't do too well it was the setting. the first bits on Luna and in space were really great but after that it just gets kinda boring imo
The derelict fleet, especially the conning tower was pretty cool, in my opinion.
honestly I kind of wish the whole game was set in the Derelict Fleet because it at least felt like Dead Space Tau Volantis felt a little to Gears of Warsy for me
Dead Space 3 just lacked of cool/original locations in my opinion. I mean, Dead Space 1 had the Ishimura. And ofcourse the planet in the end. Dead Space 2 had the Solar power satellite and the Earth.gov Marker building. Dead Space 3 had, well shit I can't think of any really cool spots beside *end game spoiler*[sp] the alien city[/sp]
I really wish the soundtrack would have been almost silent during the derelict fleet missions, especially when spacewalking. It really felt like this for nearly the whole time:
I wish they'd calmed down a little with the soundtrack. As far as I remember, Dead Space 2 barely used music at all during gameplay. Which really kind of added to the whole immersion.

The only environment in DS2 I really really really liked was the Government Sector, it had a very creepy contrast to the rest of the Sprawl, which most of it felt like the Ishimura. Amusingly hands down the best part of DS2 is returning to the Ishimura. I was genuinely scared outta my mind. DS3 the only place I like is the derelict fleet, not IN the ships, just around it. All the SCAF ships are kind of the same, and once you've been in one abandoned bunker you've kind of been in all of them
I really like the early parts of DS3. I also like the first moments on the planet but after a while it gets a bit boring and I personally though the [sp]Alien City was a bit lackluster.[/sp]
this is the weirdest complaint but I hate when I'm playing Co-OP and people switch out of Carver's default suit it's like you got the best one by default don't ruin this no put that N7 away

The end labyrinth and puzzles in SH 2 were cool too. Ishimura part in DS2 was my favorite bit too. Glad that the dreaded medical bay was not included, otherwise I'd be scared shitless.
in DS4 there need to be scenes where all you can do is escape an endless horde. like the first sequence in DS1 but you have guns so you can kind of slow them down, but mainly the focus would be getting to a safe area...
I think DS4 should be only shooting unitoligists in city streets becuase that's what people want also don't get to excited for DS4 since EA said they're dropping dead space if 3 doesn't break 5 mill
to me the series is dead anyways if 4 isn't a reboot of some kind. isaac's story is done for all i care.
for me Isaac was done after 1 I honestly thought he died at the end of 1 and until 2 came out I continued thinking that in my opinion it makes for a much better story I really also hate Extraction because it sort of undermines the "Isaac was the only survivor" thing
I really also hate Extraction because it sort of undermines the "Isaac was the only survivor" thing
well McNeil apparently died somehow and was the necromorph at the end of Extraction, Gabe is dead as shit as of Severed, and Lexine is a fugitive like Isaac. I don't think one person just very barely surviving is really that big of a deal, especially when Visceral have apparently forgotten about them for now.
Up to about chapter 14, and have some assorted thoughts on DS3. -Lots of reused environments, true, but you get less of that later in the game, and it's nowhere NEAR as bad as, say, Dragon Age 2. -Weapon crafting is great. I made a revolver with attached revolver that shoots stasis rounds, and a gun that shoots rockets and/or buzz saws. Still, though, the microtransaction thing makes me feel like there is a lot to the weapons system that I'll never really get to play with unless I shell out more money. -Issac has the worst balance in history, I can't count how many times we've had a "Oh, no! I've fallen and gotten cut off from my group!" moment. It beats doing the FPS Follow routine for a whole game, but after the fifth time Issac falls off a cliff or something it starts getting ridiculous. -Is it just me, or is dicing up necromorphs less fun this time around than in DS2? It's hard to put my finger on, but it just feels different. -This game legitimately has a lot of content, the story has gone on longer than I really expected. Maybe I'm too used to blasting through CoD campaigns in 5 hours, but it's a pleasant surprise. It's not a bad game, really, just has a few flaws. I deeply wish the microtransactions were gone and things were restructured so that by the end of the game, you'd had a chance to experience and enjoy everything without constantly being solicited to spend money. I'm not enjoying it quite as much as DS2, but it's still a good time.
the ragdolls are getting shittier each game also some weapons don't seem to register hits right.
yeah necro combat does not feel right at all I think it's the lack of a proper Plasma Cutter. The plasma cutter is what made dismememberment for me, a loud CRACK! and Necro arm would fall off in this it's all shooty guns not eventhe ripper feels right
-Weapon crafting is great. I made a revolver with attached revolver that shoots stasis rounds, and a gun that shoots rockets and/or buzz saws. Still, though, the microtransaction thing makes me feel like there is a lot to the weapons system that I'll never really get to play with unless I shell out more money.
There isn't. Besides, you don't even need to spend money as you can just buy the boosts with ration seals, which is a type of resource that scavenger bots bring in. So unless you think upgrades to the scavenger bots and/or reskinned weapons w/ slightly different stats + reskinned suits is a lot to the weapons system you think you're missing, then I don't see how that makes any sense.
-Is it just me, or is dicing up necromorphs less fun this time around than in DS2? It's hard to put my finger on, but it just feels different.
Necromorphs still die the same way. Shoot limbs, dead. Rinse and repeat. Doesn't feel different to me. Maybe you're using an unfamiliar weapon? Although they did nerf some weapons like the plasma cutter.
It's not a bad game, really, just has a few flaws. They're aren't shoving prompts in your face asking if you want to spend money every time you open a menu. Also, 19 chapters is plenty enough time to experience and enjoy everything, so I'm not sure what you're getting at? If you're talking about not having enough time to gather resources to upgrade your weapons or make better weapons, then do another playthrough. It's exactly like doing another playthrough in the past two games, where you sweep up all the power nodes again and continue to upgrade every single weapon and finishing off upgrading your suit.

And the ripper just grinds and grinds and grinds until eventually a leg falls off, it doesn't feel anything like it used to. The basics are the same, but the feel is totally inferior to DS3. To me, having a screen that says "You don't have enough resources" with "cancel" and "DLC (buy resources") feels like being solicited. It's always dangling right there in front of you. "Don't have enough? Can't get that next weapon? You can always just give us money!".
I just used ration seals.
