I'd say DS3 is a 6 or 7/10
1 is an 8
2 is a 9
DS3 is playable but definitely falls flat
it's better than I expected but i expected it to be DNF so there you go
it has the makings for a good dead space in here soewhere
I think Dead Space 3 could've been significantly improved by the removement of Danik and Norton, because they're just so fucking childish and poorly written
Awwwww....I liked Norton. [sp]I wish he survived. His voice actor had perfect delivery. Seriously, that line right before he dies? "Now between Danik shooting at us and whatever the FUCK that was--" I was laughing my ass off, it was brilliant.[/sp]
[sp]So who else dragged Norton's dismembered corpse over to Ellie for shits 'n giggles? I thought it would provoke a reaction, but Nope. She still asked me where Norton was as his head bounced off her shoulders.[/sp]
not to mention a lengthy sequence where Isaac floats around in space without a helmet
he's in freefall in a place obviously with atmosphere.

i teabagged his corpse right in front of her.
i knew nothing would happen though.
I don't know. It might be what I like in storytelling but I liked in DS1 where the Unitologists were just batshit crazy and not a plot device that could fill in any holes, like they are here or in 2.
Why would governments build markers?
UNITOLOGY
I just find it rather silly that we're supposed to believe this group of zealots are so devout they've overhtrown the entire government for their religion
and why
cause danik said so
it's just silly, too much suspension of disbelief that 100% of everyone is totally on board for mass suicide and all
I'm not entirely sure why, out of all of the things the Dead Space story kinks up, you think that this may be the strangest. Dudes like the Unitologist fanatics are just a subsection of the many people in the series taken under sway by the Marker's influence and basically given two directives by it:
- Make more Markers
- Make more corpses
Marker cares not what banner. Marker cares not what methods. Marker cares not what corpses. Blood for blood god.
(I do readily agree that DS3 is the weakest installment in the series, though)
Dead Space 3 just ruined it all for me
it's just too dumb
there's no way Unitoligists are so devout and magical that they control the entire government and wanna kill everyone because religion
I just can't buy it anymore.
Ever heard of Muslims? Ever heard of how they conquered all of north Africa and some of Spain for religion? Ever heard of Catholics and how there were several wars with Muslims over religion?
Not that out there, especially when like 80% of the human population is Unitoligist. Also, only the higher ups in EarthGov knew the markers were not what unitoligist believed them to be. I can see a large portion of EarthGov's armed forces defecting if a large scale revolt broke out.

Wow, I had never heard of that. I knew Unitoligy was clearly somewhat based on Scientology, and it itself is a very shady deal, but I didn't know about that scandal.
i think in general it's common knowledge that scientology is indeed as whacky as they say.
it's probably downplayed by the fact that celebrities are scientologists. my money is on them not even being members, the church just pays them to say so.
Well, its a religion based around a crazy guy who wrote scifi stories and decided to make a religion. Just that premise itself is wacky.
[editline]6th March 2013[/editline]
I could really get into how feeble the basis of the worlds largest religions are, but I wont.
maybe it's a giant fuckoff in joke to be a member of scientology...
[editline]5th March 2013[/editline]
so basically all the celebs who are in it are like the hipsters of famous people...
too little too late....
Im enjoying the game and all but the fact that they paid no attention what happens to things after 200 years bugs the everloving shit out of me, there would be almost no trace of human interference on that planet, you would be lucky to see skeletons and nothing would fucking work, to top it off im in the supply depot atm and there are lamps that are on for some reason.
I really wish they didn't have to make it that it was 200 year old ruins, something a bit more recent would make sense.
This, from what I read I thought impossible was going to be a challenge, but on new game + it's just stupid, everything still died in 1 shot up just after the climbing sequences when suddenly everything took, *drumroll* 2 hits (and they're stasis'd after the first that's no challenge at all).
Might've been challenging as a fresh game, but the reward wasn't worth it at all, I had seemingly already gotten the extra +3 circuits from randomly finding them on new game+ that or i'm really missing something because not even the ones gained from getting 100% of the collectibles were anything useful.
every single dead space is easy as fuck on new game +, hell every dead space is piss easy from halfway through the game on the first playthrough and I've only ever played them on the hardest difficulty (except that difficulty on ds2 where you only get 3 saves, didnt have the time for that shit)
[editline]6th March 2013[/editline]
also something thats bothered me since dead space 2, if you can rip off the limbs of necromorphs when they are dead, logically you would be able to do that when they are alive so in real life they would be extremely easy to deal with
I gotta admit 200 years does seem a little overkill. I'm not sure about this but the cold could preserve some of the bodies and we don't know what necromorphs are capable of.
About the enemy spawning in DS3. I realized that in previous games you wandered around having few encounters, then occasionally a bigger fight. In DS3 you enter a room, look around, ask yourself if it could be used as an arena/ambush (which is true for most of DS3) and get ready to fight anyway.
you could do that in dead space 2 as well
and the place where the bodies are is not in the cold its in the facilities

Devs really didn't bother with enemies. Arena/ambush, okay, that's indeed true for just about any room in DS3. What I can't wrap my head around is that you can't even predict shit. Vents - okay, they will go from there. And that vent on the ceiling, and that door barely holding on.
As soon as it starts, two 'morphs simultaneously get out of, indeed, vents. And two more just appear behind you. In coop second player can sometimes clearly see 'morphs coming out of thin air.
How could they do this in a coop-centered game, is beyond me.

Most of the popular ones are just cults devoted to the sun; the others actually tried to anthropomorphise the forces of nature in an effort to make sense of the crazy world around them.
I have more respect for cults with a vibrant pantheon of gods rather than one streamlined all-purpose piece of "plot insulation" that is essentially the sun dressed up in different garments, be he a flaming bush, a radiant old guy in a dressing gown, or some sort of fire genie. Multiple gods that each represent a specific aspect of the world makes more sense than one big omnipotent jealous bastard who thinks he's so big because he makes a fuckton of light, even though we don't need gods anymore because we have science.

That's funny how you put it, I myself am extremely okay with solar cults. Because face it, our conveniently placed Sun is the only thing worth worshiping (not that it will grant any wishes though). And it's ultimately ahead of various other deities. You see it. You feel it. And it affects you directly. What's not to worship?
It makes sense, but it's still boring. And worshipping it is pointless anyways since you don't offer up bits of your spiritual essence to give it the power it needs to do things; there is no science that says human souls power the Sun, regardless of what the Aztecs believed with their kooky sacrifices.
If there were actually real gods there'd be valid reasons for religion to exist in the present day, but as far as I'm concerned in this reality, religions are now just fantasy fandoms gone way too far.

the religious atrocities during the crusades and religious expeditions by missionaries?

Meh, science makes everything boring. That if one finds living on a planet that runs through the space at relativistic speeds alongside huge fucking ever-burning fusion reactor, boring. Though you can argue that Sun exists and works because every single living thing believes it exists. Except for butterflies. They believe in Moon. Heretics. If people will stop believing, the Sun will die and blow up. And we all die.
That's pretty much (oversimplified) sum of how religion works. And that's why I think Unitology is believable: make a person stop questioning your words, and you can make them zealously believe in any kind of idiotic bullshit you can come up with.
I have a question about New Game+, because I want to get the Devil's Horns. On my 98% complete save, what happens if I do New Game+? Does it wipe the save and start over on the Classic setting? Should I do a new save for New Game+ for the hands?
I have a question about New Game+, because I want to get the Devil's Horns. On my 98% complete save, what happens if I do New Game+? Does it wipe the save and start over on the Classic setting? Should I do a new save for New Game+ for the hands?
It saves to an empty save slot when you start any New Game+ playthough. You'll still have your original playthrough in addition to the Classic playthrough.
So I went through the "pure survival" mode to get the MK2 parts, then tried to start a new game plus.
The normal game was greyed out, only the bonus modes were available. So I go back to my normal save and the parts aren't there. Am I going to have to play pure survival forever now to have those parts?
what do
the one thing i dont like/get is that mk2 parts are unlocked by doing stuff in the game, and mkiv parts are obtained through dlc
priorities...
the MKV parts also make your weapon look like a nerf gun
Yeah, they should have gone with black, it's nothing special but it is kind of neutral. The blue and gold combo is terrible.
the MKV parts also make your weapon look like a nerf gun
i can't see the fuckin difference
also - who gives a fuck
personally I think all my weapons looked horrendous
big blogs of metal and pipes
my chain gun + evangelizer shotgun with ammo and acid packs on it just looked like a big mass of rusty metal with shit scribbled on it

Don't know how I feel about this DLC, I'll be getting it since I still have quite a bit of MS points left. But EA basically published an incomplete game, as the paid DLC takes place right after the end of the game.
lol that's EA for you
I'll get it and co-op that shit up
[editline]7th March 2013[/editline]
will this lead Isaac and Carver home though?
