Fuck, looks like twitchers are back.
Just because ME3 wasn't enough for them... they did it again.
so my friend and i have dead space 3, and we wanted to go through 2 before we start. he only played dead space, but i played both when they were bundled together on steam for $5. i'm doing it on hard, which i basically consider to be normal in this game. or at least, the way it was meant to be played, like heroic in halo. for extra immersion i've only played it at alone at night in the dark with headphones and to top it off, my little survivalist lantern set to red or red strobe light. i'm a movie nerd too so i'm all about experiencing something the way the creators intended most. it's kinda silly but way atmospheric, and it reminded me of how much i loved the fully diegetic UIs of dead space (diegetic = contained within and part of the scene; a soundtrack played over a movie is non-diegetic, but when the music comes from a radio that the characters can hear it's diegetic). there's only one thing that blurs the line, and that's the panels that come up when you go to overwrite a save. i also wanted to ask you guys something. the first time i played, i wasn't excited that they removed zero-g restrictions and added the free-maneuver jet thrusters, but then i remembered how much i love zero-g games and their consequential orientation screws. are those sections still in dead space 3? i know it's on a planet now, so i'm afraid one of my favorite gameplay elements is gone :(
Fuck, looks like twitchers are back.
They were already in DS3. But the trailer showed some new freaky enemies. But yeah, it confirms [sp]Isaac and Carver survived.[/sp] It also seems Isaac is crazy again. Funny to hear it from Carver. Not sure how I feel about what they did with this DLC though.
i also wanted to ask you guys something. the first time i played, i wasn't excited that they removed zero-g restrictions and added the free-maneuver jet thrusters, but then i remembered how much i love zero-g games and their consequential orientation screws. are those sections still in dead space 3? i know it's on a planet now, so i'm afraid one of my favorite gameplay elements is gone :(
Don't worry. There's plenty of that in DS3.
I hope Awakened actually gives some fucking closure to this series. It won't, but I wish it did.
Something I caught in the new trailer. Spoilers obviously. http://i.imgur.com/9CC7PBu.jpg
Looks like the enemies from condemned. And then we know at the end that Isaac was a necromorph in closet.
Something I caught in the new trailer. Spoilers obviously. http://i.imgur.com/9CC7PBu.jpg
but I removed his head and tossed the body off a cliff then left the head with [sp]Ellie[/sp]
^^but then Isaac entered Silent Hill.
^^but then Isaac entered Silent Hill.
I've imagined James Sunderland and Isaac Clarke go to the same therapy sessions. And they occasionally double date with their hallucinations.
Uhh, so how do I get my Devil's horns on my 100% save? I just finished Classic and its only in the safe of that save...
Did you try loading up your 100% save? I got a notification I unlocked it in there, too.
Did you try loading up your 100% save? I got a notification I unlocked it in there, too.
Of course. I went on immediately and went into the weapon crafting arena, and it wasn't there. I also tested it by making a new save, it said I unlocked all my DLCs and stuff, but no glove.
Looks like the enemies from condemned. And then we know at the end that Isaac was a necromorph in closet.
Oh god the needle guys.
And they occasionally double date with their hallucinations.
"*in evil hissing static voice*Why'd you order the chicken Isaac? Is it because you're watching your weight? Or because you're still feeling guilty for killing me? *to waiter in normal voice* Ok, I'll have the chilli soup." "*Isaac flips the table* GODDAMNIT I TRUSTED YOU! FUCK YOU! AND FUCK YOUR SOUP!*stomps out of the restaurant and ends up tripping over a Lurker*" Got nothing for James and his wife, since I've never gotten into the Silent Hill games due to me not growing up on consoles.
Something I caught in the new trailer. Spoilers obviously. http://i.imgur.com/9CC7PBu.jpg
It will probably be just a hallucination, because Isaac feels guilty for some ill-conceived reason.
i can't see the fuckin difference also - who gives a fuck
you're blind and i do. [editline]7th March 2013[/editline] you're also complete and totally wrong
Has Isaac lost all emotions towards Nicole? I mean, they didn't even reference her in DS3.
Has Isaac lost all emotions towards Nicole? I mean, they didn't even reference her in DS3.
I think he's just tried to put it behind him and forget about the past.
Has Isaac lost all emotions towards Nicole? I mean, they didn't even reference her in DS3.
well i'd imagine shooting the eldritch shade of your girlfriend square in the face with a surgical laser is kind of a traumatic experience, certainly one i'd try to forget and move past
related
Oh those crazy Silent Hill guys; those UFO endings are so weird.
has anyone else noticed that at times isaac sound exactly like tom cruise
Holy shit; it ties into the whole Unitology connection with his family. All Isaac needs to do now is wreck Oprah's couch and break her wrists. If they do another Dead Space, they should cut out the middleman and hire Tom Cruise to voice and be the visual model for Newsaac. In fact, Tom Cruise could play Isaac in a Dead Space movie, and nobody would be able to notice. Now requesting fanart of Tom Cruise as Isaac Clarke.
i'll take that as 'i agree'
It seems legit.
has anyone else noticed that at times isaac sound exactly like tom cruise
doesnt sound like that to me also - who gives a fuck
I tried turning the music level down to 0. A few things get lost in translation, but for the most part the experience is drastically improved without a soundtrack.
Has Isaac lost all emotions towards Nicole? I mean, they didn't even reference her in DS3.
Pretty sure [sp] Goddammit I trusted you! FUCK YOU AND FUCK YOUR MARKER[/sp] Wraps that up completely.
I find it funny how the importance of sections in space and oxygen has been neglected over the course of the series. In DS1, you started off with maybe a minute's worth of air, so suffocation was an actual threat. It was worth a power node to upgrade your air capacity, although you could buy portable O2 canisters (which I never did and I can see why the devs got rid of them), or get through spacewalk sections using only air-refilling stations and speed. You would also usually be fighting enemies, and the combination of limited hearing and the steadily increasing speed and volume of your oxygen monitor beeps created some really tense moments. In DS2, you get several minutes of air, as well increased movement/freedom in zero-G/spacewalk sections, which there are less of (though I'm not saying that DS1 had all that many to begin with). There are also plenty of air stations around those sections, so you would only suffocate if you didn't pay attention to Isaac's back or are unlucky. I only upgraded air capacity because I was in NG+ and there was nothing else to upgrade. In DS3, there's even less of a threat of suffocation. You start off with 4 minutes of air, there are a bunch of air canisters floating all around you that you can use from several yards away, and the only way to die is get hit by mines/necro attacks or just sit there until you run out of air. You also pretty much never have to fight enemies when inside a vacuum. Upgrading your capacity has barely any benefit since you already have much more than you need, and by the time the first quarter of the game is passed you literally have no need for it anymore.
Has Isaac lost all emotions towards Nicole? I mean, they didn't even reference her in DS3.
This is something I thought was handled incredibly poorly. In Dead Space 2, technically, Isaac's brain should be in a state that the Ishimura is still fresh in his mind, since they gave him memory suppressants and kept him in stasis. Even in Dead Space 2 it seems like he hardly gives two shits about Nicole except for when he needs to. Come Dead Space 3 he literally does not even mention that his girflriend died, he should've ahd moment with Carver about that. I thought Isaac's insanity was something the series could've went with but completely dropped the ball on. I never for a moment bought that Isaac was crazy. You want to see good examples of crazy? Silent Hill 2, Spec Ops : The Line. Those games have two protagonists who are actually delusional, and it's done well. In Dead Space every now and then the screen would go red and shake. And then in DS3 Isaac's all cured of the crazies for no explicable reason.
