Steam Beta ALL THE WAY!
I used to use the new beta but it got really difficult when I couldn't use it for no reason in game sometimes. Then I couldn't even use the friends list outside of games so I'm using normal for now.
it isn't that bad, at least with punkbuster (from my personal experience) you never experienced hackers. but with VAC, it doesn't stop them...
Whenever I've gamed online in tf2 / l4d / l4d2, I've never seen an actual hacker. Punkbuster I've always found shitty though.
I love the beta theme
I loved the beta, but the overlay crashed nearly every time I was playing a game. When I'm in fullscreen, my only form of communication to others is via the overlay, and if it goes down then I can't talk to anybody. Unless they've fixed that, I'm staying on the old Steam for now.
Viva La Beta!
Beta.
I would love the beta except for the lack if game seperation options. It would be really cool if you could make your own subsections (like favorites) and drag and drop games around. I would never close steam again, and I would email Valve my babies if I ever made any (since I never leave my computer, that may be an issue). Im still in the middle, I like both.
Beta is cool, but sometimes I get the "Lost connection to VAC Server" or what not, more frequently on older Source Games like Counter-strike or HL2:DM when I use the beta Theme.
I love the new overlay. The only thing I don't like is how it stops working randomly while playing.
Since I got Windows 7, Beta is running smoothly :D I am loving it. I also love the fact that when you are in a game, and hit Shift+Tab, it tells you how long you have been playing the game for.
Beta for me. Really like the new overlay in-game and the additional features they added. As for the way your games are displayed, I also thought it was a bit confusing at first but I got used to it. It also runs a lot faster for me than the old version.
Have they fixed all the issues with 64 bit Win 7? Last time I tried it it uninstalled MW2 and a few other games.
The old IE-based in-game browser used to have typing lag which pissed me the fuck off. The new one doesn't :)
The new beta UI rocks, but i miss the very old, original steam UI
I haven't had any issues with the UI and I'm enjoying it. My only gripe is that I do miss the old games list and that I actually have to look for the "web" button in the shift + tab overlay.
Have they fixed all the issues with 64 bit Win 7? Last time I tried it it uninstalled MW2 and a few other games.
I guess so; works fine for me I love the Beta, just the random times when it stops working (EG Shift+Tab does nothing) annoy me.
Beta is sexier, and its a bit easier. You should have made a poll
I use the normal one, mainly because the beta version would either crash, or completely bug out. Causing me to restart steam.
Ontopic: I prefer the beta, all though I do sometimes have a problem in CSS and Garrysmod where shift+tab just completely starts to not work.
Dont feel bad, that happens to me in the original too... >_<
I like the original theme better. I use a custom L4D theme for it, but I've seen the beta and of all that I saw from it: I did not like it.
Beta was Awesome especially the new options in the overlay the only bad thing was that it was a bit choppy on my older pc :smithicide:
