I bet they are going to. But is going to be something small like a powerup or something.
After all this game have alot of reference from other games and media.
If it something like an item, I'm okay with it, you can just choose to not pick it up.
Perhaps the Spy's watch (or Dead Ringer?) as a spacebar item, that would allow you to move around a room without enemies reacting, or allowing you to take a hit without losing health. Would of course give you a Spy-Style Balaclava to wear.

on an unrelated note, what does the wafer do? it says damage resistance but you take half a heart anyway. would it make you take half a heart away in the womb/sheol?

If you have the wafer as ???/Blue baby, devil room items only take away half a heart as well :eng101:

Oh god I am so mad right now. I ended up in the sheol with one heart. I finally get to Satan and I kill him at the exact same time I was dodging one of those exploding leeches which caused it to die.
Wow.
Just started a game with Cain. Found the xray glasses in basement 1's treasure room. Revealed secret room right next to it. Found The Noose in there.
I can already tell this will be a good playthrough.

Does it work on certain items in subsequent runs aswell? (I'm pretty sure about that but not how it works.)

5¢ (Bombs, keys, soul hearts, tarot cards and pills) items now go for 3¢,
3¢ items (Hearts) become 2¢ items.

Only the shop you are in when you pick it? Every shop in that particular run?
I think I once entered a shop and there were some items half price (red colored price) although I did not pick up a Steam Sale in that run.

It cuts the item price for every store in that run. Items can also have half price randomly throughout a run without the steam sale.
