I've got like 30 deaths, and never got to mom. Why am I not good at this game? Always goes great then I fuck everything up in a single room.
My first time getting to mom was at about 35 deaths. Just keep playing, I'm getting better.
One tip (coming from a horrible player, I know) is dodging doesn't require dashing around the room, take little steps to dodge.
A couple of my "geeky" friends (the few that properly play computer games) always commented on my BoI playtime, and didn't understand how I could play it that much. One of them actually gave it a decent try last night and has been playing it for a while now. Hopefully I can convert the others.
There should be a colored Gurdy Jr. that never stops bouncing around the room.
Because fuck all of us.

Along with its speed increased like the yellow chub

And then two of them at once on the later floors.

friday update is now the monday update.

HNNNNNNGH.
Pretty OP combo I got there. Blood of the Martyr, Book of Belial (Judas), a few tears upgrades, Mutated Spider and Spider Bite. In-arguably the BEST combo against Gurdy Jr. because it does shit-tons of damage while also preventing him from charging while he's under the slow effect, and when you're spamming 4 tears at once, ONE of them is gonna slow him.
And yes, I got THE ending.
...So during the Spider Boy challenge, I skip to the next floor after I beat the boss using a well-invested We Need To Go Deeper, and I defeat Satan several endings early.
And in my stats it says I've unlocked Ending 7, Ending 8 and Ending 11 :v:

Also, way early Mom's Knife.
When this game first came out it reminded me of this: (Don't watch if you're easily freaked out)

Both are quite different but the resemblance is amazing. :v:

New DLC leaked footage
Again, goes great then it fucks up.
Had 4 hearts with Cain, Polyphemus, max damage, max speed, flying and phantom tears, got to mom's level. Suddenly, a room with 6 (I think, probably a pair more) of those things that open themselves to shoot out worms like boomerangs. Speed doesn't help me much, in fact I move so fast I end up slamming into them and I lose a lot of life.
Well fuck, but no worries, just need to find a hea-FUCK. Room with shooty things at all corners and at center, meaning I had a very hard time dodging without taking any damage (using speed to run around them only works once I'm out of their "ambush"). Didn't end that well at all.
Oh well, I'm getting closer and closer.
Also what would happen if one was to find both Brimstone AND Polyphemus? Death and destruction?

I foresee a good run from this.
Can you tell how good of a run it'll be by how much he doesn't look like Isaac?

"as far as endings go, a lot of the theories ive read are pretty interesting and have a lot of cool ideas that even i had noticed.. but its impossible to get it all right because all of the "stories" run parallel, really there are 4+ stories within the game that are all possible realities."
i figured there was more than one possibility going on with all these endings.

I won't say "You're a moron!" because I'm pretty sure I'm the only idiot who listens to his podcast, but that guy was just joking. In his recent one he jokes about people comparing him to Nova and used those exact words.
I just had a Secret Room with nothing in it. :I

D20 is overpowered.
Enter secret room with 3 hearts, Isaac base damage, +2 fire rate, normal speed and range.
Exit secret room with 12 hearts, far more spirit hearts, max damage, 1 in fire rate (polyphemus), max speed, max range, polyphemus, chocolate milk, quad shot, flying+spectral, and a joker card which brought me to an angel room with Sacred Tears in.
This was on Basement 1

I killed [sp]Issac[/sp]! That was the first time I got to him. As I went into the stage he is on, I had only 4 1/2 hearts. So I blew up the secret room and a fortuneteller machine was in it. It gave me 5 soul hearts, a child's heart, and a goat hoof before blowing up. Thanks fortuneteller.

I don't buy it, since when can the D20 turn coins into pedestal items?

A secret room with at least 30 coins in it and the d20 turning them into items? Are you playing a different build of the game?
I don't buy it, since when can the D20 turn coins into pedestal items?
gold chest
gold chest
That's still way too convenient to be true. Did you ever get such items in golden chests?
Entirely possible lucky things happened in a game that's based completely on randomness?
BULLSHIT I DON'T BELIEVE IT
[editline]edit[/editline]
Except that you would have to have at least 20 coins to reroll before you did so (taking into account the extra hearts as Hearts Up pills, the firerate and damage from Poly, max speed/range pills presumably from rerolled chests, and three or more keys). To get that many in a single secret room- because secret rooms only ever contain a max of nine coins on pre-depths floors -there would have had to be a slot machine, and to fill the room up with that many rollable items you would have needed to win at least twice that many times, dropping dimes or nickels as a prize excluded.
Items from chests could count for rerolls, but that would mean leaving and coming back to roll again, and Basement 1 doesn't have enough rooms to fill up the item for use again unless you found the secret room directly from the start without going anywhere else.
As a matter of fact, to get three (or more if flying+spectral didn't come from Spirit of the Night) pedestal items, you'd need three or more keys, which also requires three or more golden chests to ALSO come from that one reroll. In total you'd need three golden chests, three keys, four chests' worth of items including pills and the joker card, and a slot machine in the very first floor of the game.
On one roll.
So, yes, it's still possible to win the slot machine 20+ times, don't pick up any of the rewards, reroll them all into several golden chests, pills, and keys, and then leave with a successful run on your hands, despite how improbable it sounds. To the victor go the spoils I guess.

Forgot to mention that after i got enough money i bought the habit.
There were 9 cents in the room when I entered, after a reroll which gave me enough money to buy the habit from the shop, and a Temperance card which I used to charge myself with and spawn more items.
Also yes, there where also several spacebar items like [sp]Dad's key[/sp], Book of revelations, Yum heart etc.
I mean only reason I left the secret room was because I had spent 20 minutes in there.

Well, I wish you'd have elaborated on that little detail before I wrote three big long paragraphs about why it wasn't probable! v:v:v

Well, I guess that's it then. Looks like I won Binding of Isaac.
Picking up Technology and then Spirit of the Night in quick succession made me one speedy motherfucker. The only downside is that it fires damn slow thanks to Poly-whatchamacalit but I don't even care at this point.
[editline]1st July 2012[/editline]
Annihilated my fellow ??? in no less than four straight shots. Holy shit. That's what happens when you pick up Poly-whatever at the very tail end of a run, by the way.
