I still haven't beaten the game with the polaroid. I almost never find the thing, so it's really frustrating playing through repeatedly just hoping for this one item.
I hope this polaroid fix today is a good one. Even though I've already fully beaten the game with everyone but eve, i've kinda run out of patience for it.
Only time I got the Polaroid and beat the Chest with it, I had Bum Friend, IV Bag and Bloody Penny.
I got to the chest and got beat down by the final boss. Facing Super Wrath 3 separate times didn't help either.
I just found a way to get invincibility.
If you have that shield and you use a full health pill, you then can't take any damage (not even spirit hearts).

What shield, the Polaroid one ? Because if yes, Book of Shadow is god tier now.

After like 20 tries I finally had an eve run where I got decent starting items and a polaroid. Lost to final boss when he had only only a bit of health left. Fuck EVERYTHING i'm waiting for the patch before i try this shit again aaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I had an idea for the final boss. I'll put some spoiler tags around this huge ass explanation.
[sp] Isaac in the cathedral would be left unchanged, but ??? in the chest will change almost completely. While ??? would still fire tears at you whenever you damage him, the rest of the fight will change by adding many new attacks to ???'s arsenal.
??? will use various items from the game in his arsenal of attacks.
Anarchist cookbook: Same function as it regularly does, spawning bombs all over the room. ??? will not take self damage from this attack.
Book of Sin: Will spawn a random regular sin. Has a cooldown.
Book of revelations: All four horsemen charge from random sides of the screen, exactly like Famine and Conquest.
Yum! Heart!: Upon hitting 50% HP, ??? will use this item and heal for 25% of his health. He cannot use this item again for the rest of the fight.
Monster Manual: Three random familiars appear and circle around ???, firing as they spin around ???. The fire rate for familiars is much faster when ??? uses them.
Crack the Sky: Same function as the item regularly does, raining holy beams down randomly.
The Candle: Three flames shoot out from ??? in random directions, leaving a burning trail behind that lasts for a few seconds and will hurt isaac.
Guppies Head: Spawns 2-4 flies that will home in on isaac. Only regular flies.
After defeating ???, he will use Daddy's love which will backfire, resulting in Triachnid stomping on ??? and destroying him. The chest will then appear and can be collected so you can view the final ending in the game.[/sp]
I figured that would have been a more suiting final boss.
I agree, that [sp]???[/sp] should be more varied, harder and different than the [sp]Isaac[/sp] fight.

Finally beat the Purist challenge. If I didn't have that 1up I'd be so screwed.
It took a good 5+ minutes to beat It Lives, my damage was so pathetic.
Now I wait for the patch.

I didn't find the Purist hard, actually I completed it on my first try.
...maybe that brimstone that demon beggar gave me helped a bit.
Plus It Lives is piss easy to defeat, even with shit damage, all you have to do is camp it with bombs so almost everything it spawns is killed instantly.

Beat the chest for the first time, as samson. Had tech2 for the entire run, then switched to mum's knife in the chest.
Stood right next to the boss and kept clicking, was over in seconds.
Small idea for the fix, Polaroid is still needed, but character specific items let you into the chest as well, like Isaac's head, Maggy' Faith etc.
What about you just need to unlock the Chest once and then it's available every other time, like everything else in this game ?
So I reached the cathedral for the first time. I can finally play Isaac with the big boys!
