Didn't show up for me either. Also in regards to it showing up in odd places before the last two patches, everytime it did that for me it turned out it was because it was next to a secret secret room, which it was counting as an adjacent room. you sure it wasn't just that.
Two more people to beat the game with (??? and Cain) and I'll have Platinum God. I told myself I wasn't gonna play anything else till I got it so I've been playing it non stop today. I just finished a Maggy Chest run now I need to figure out which of ??? and Cain I wanna do first.
Well, it seems like Super Secret rooms have completely disappeared (either that or the Spelunker Hat doesn't detect them anymore).
Beat The Chest as Judas today. This run ended up getting pretty close, but I found a library right before fighting Isaac and got the Book of Shadows, which saved my ass in both boss fights. Now I just need to finish with Eve, ???, and Samson. Dunno if this got posted yet: Wrath of the lamb Update v1.45 Notes: -fixed “other” invincibility bug -raised music/sfx quality -refixed secret rooms blocking off areas -refixed placement of old secret rooms -fixed “secret chapter” secret rooms. -fixed normal rooms appearing in secret rooms in xl floors -lots more little tweaks and fixes Once again id greatly appriciate a bug threat for 1.45 made here http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1231 the last ones helped a ton and id like to do on final update to attempt to fix all remaining minor bugs without breaking the game and making more :) (From edmund's blog)
Killed mom in one hit. Never been that powerful before. I'm happy.

During my time in Iceland, I was doing a bit more theoretical writings concerning that "Isaac & Meat Boy Go To Hell" idea that's become a real worm in my egg salad (it wriggles around in my head and won't get out), and thought of something involving Chapters having "final bosses", namely those bosses being representative of bad things in Isaac's life. Note that this is related to that one theory someone posted a while back, that the alternate characters were representative of Isaac's coping with a traumatic event in his life, and it assumes that Maggie was actually alive at one point and not simply just one of Isaac's multiple personas. In the IAMBGTH thing, the alternate characters are unlocked when you beat them as Chapter Bosses, and are representative of how Isaac deals with the loss of his sister. In fact, the names of the Chapters are related to how Isaac and certain stages of getting over the event, as well as the natures of the "alt characters". After defeating a Chapter Boss, Isaac has a flashback to his early life, represented in the form of polaroid pictures showing how events panned out, kind of how Psychonauts delivered the backstories of the different characters using the "memory plates" found in the walking safes, including everyone's favourite "okay what the hell was that"; "The World Shall Taste My Eggs". In addition, Isaac acquires a "Personality" item, which essentially allows you to choose an alt character when you start the game, like Maggie, Cain, Judas, etc; however they also tend to drop items that can be obtained only when playing as said character, such as Maggie players being able to take the life-restoring Sister's Heart, or Cain players being able to remove the Keyknife from the lock in Chapter 2's Trapdoor (the way down to the next Chapter).
Firstly there's Loss/Innocence, which has Maggie as the Chapter Boss, representative of Isaac's innocence and loss thereof, as well as being representative of his sister. Crayons would be a theme here, being related to what Isaac liked to do and what ultimately killed Maggie; the crayons Isaac used weren't non-toxic and posed a choking hazard, y'see. Crayons stick out of this boss's body like spikes from the Regenerator from Resident Evil 4, and in Maggie's first form the Isaac would need to avoid her deadly hugs, representative of how he initially didn't like Maggie and how she'd interrupt his drawings, but even when grabbed Isaac can still break free from her grasp. In her second form, Maggie grows to massive size and chases the characters over death pits (filled with crayons, fyi); Meat Boy'll need to carry Isaac as he does the amazing athletics he's famed for and avoids dying to spikes. This second-stage of the Maggie boss is also a throwback to Super Meat Boy, relating to the Lil' Slugger boss fight and how it was essentially running away from Dr Fetus's giant chainsaw mecha; however, this time Isaac has to shoot tears to soften up Maggie for the final blow; a series of large crayon stalactites at the end. Once "Mega Maggie" falls flat on her face, choking to death face-down in the crayon-pits, Isaac ends up having a flashback about how he saw his sister choking to death on a crayon, which was his first true loss that scarred him for life, and the death of his innocence. When Isaac and Meat Boy end up walking across the dead body of Mega Maggie, Isaac finds the Sister's Wig, the first "Personality" he acquires, and the two descend through the trapdoor on Maggie's back, down to the next part of Hell. It's implied that by wearing the Sister's Wig, Isaac thinks he's Maggie, whilst Meat Boy thinks Isaac is insane, which is totally legit and a running theme; Isaac doing something crazy and Meat Boy being all "this kid is MESSED UP". With the wig, Isaac starts with more health and has an extended state of post-hit invulnerability, but has less move speed and attack speed as a result, meaning Maggie Isaac starts out tankier at the cost of being slower. Maggie's Special Item, which is acquired by defeating Maggie as Maggie, is the Sister's Heart, which is a very special pickup that allows the player to carry dropped hearts around for later use, however using the Sister's Heart requires 1 piece of "Candy" for each use.

Second Chapter, Denial/Guilt, revolves around the legacy of Cain, which is Isaac's sense of guilt and denial, both emphasizing and diluting the fact that Isaac was responsible for his sister's death. On one hand, Isaac feels guilty, but on the flipside, Cain feels no shame, and thinks that Maggie's still alive. In fact, wearing the Wig makes Cain think Isaac is Maggie, but only for a moment; otherwise, Cain thinks Isaac is Abel, and tries to stab him, still jealous of the fact that God accepted Abel's sacrifice of a sheep, whilst declining Cain's offerings of wheat. This is revealed in a speech-bubble, and carries a jesting moral along the lines of "God hates vegetarians". Cain's way of attacking is again melee-based, though with added agility; he'll usually try to attack Isaac, leaping from wall to wall trying to stab his "brother", meaning that he doesn't pay much attention to Meat Boy, so the latter can easily land a few hits on Cain when he's on the ground, ready to leap at Isaac; if Isaac gets too close, Cain'll simply leap backwards. Cain's second form isn't so much a second form so much as a change of play; when sufficiently damaged Cain will extinguish the Sconces and Braziers in his arena, meaning that one can only see his eyes, his teeth, and his knife, which is shaped like a key. Thankfully, one can still see the teeth and eyes of Isaac and Meat Boy too, plus they can relight the Braziers and Sconces using Matchsticks; oh yeah that's another thing, some rooms in IAMBGTH can get dark, and thus Matchsticks are an item to be used for illuminating areas and setting things on fire. Cain may often go to the light-sources and try to extinguish them again, giving an opportunity to land hits on him. Once Cain bites the dust, lethargically crawling towards Isaac and pulling himself along with his knife, before collapsing into a puddle of his own blood, Isaac gets another flashback, showing scenes from Maggie's funeral; in particular, one of the pictures shows Isaac looking mournfully at the grave, whilst the subsequent picture is exactly the same, only he has an eyepatch. After recovering from the flashback, Isaac walks over to Cain's body, turns it over, and takes his knife, foot and eyepatch, recoiling in terror when he sees what lies behind it, which we don't see, but upon further analysis of the Killer's Mark, one can find a corkscrew on the inside of the patch, which speaks for itself. Though Isaac thinks the knife is kinda cool and wants to take it with him, he's forced to leave it behind when he uses it to unlock the trapdoor to the next Chapter; when he tries to pull it out of the lock when the door is up, it burns his hand, leaving a telltale burn mark in the shape of a key handle, which looks like a Q when Meat Boy looks at it. Isaac looks a little depressed when he realizes the significance, and the curse he now bears, as he jumps down through the Trapdoor to the next Chapter. From this moment onward, Isaac has a permanent item known as the Mark of Cain, which activates when Isaac dies and loses a life; the large foot of an old man comes crashing down upon whatever killed Isaac, dealing 7 times the amount of damage the killing blow did to Isaac, since that's what the mark of Cain did; whoever killed Cain would receive vengeance seven times over. It also makes heart drops rarer, since in the tale of Cain and Abel, God's curse meant that Cain could no longer grow crops, which was his main skill originally. Concerning the "Personality" item Isaac gets, the Killer's Mark is the main Cain item, comprised of the Patch and the Luck Foot, and when selected at the start will grant Isaac extra damage, speed and luck, but will decrease the range, health and attack speed of the player, being that Cain's left eye is essentially broken. This way, Cain players are roguish, being less durable yet more quick and powerful, making dodging more important than taking hits. Cain's Special Item is the Keyknife, and can be pulled out of the lock if you play as Cain. It acts as a rather special subweapon; not only is it similar to Mom's Knife in that you throw it and it comes back, but also that it acts like a permanent Golden Key that only works when thrown at an unlockable object like a Chest or a Door, meaning that your key troubles are more or less over; however like all Subweapons and Special Items, the Keyknife requires "Candy" in order to work, so you'll need more Candy than usual, and Key drops won't be as useful as you think unless you have a Special Item that requires Keys to function, or encounter the Smelter, which melts down unneeded Keys in exchange for money and coin-based collectibles.

Chapter 3 is Bargaining/Betrayal, which is related to Judas, the part of Isaac that was willing to make a bargain and betray someone he knew, the former involving his lingering grief concerning his sister's death, and the other involving a certain bully at school. Judas as a boss is first seen scrawling things in what at first seems to be a colouring book, related to how Isaac enjoyed drawing pictures, but it turns out to be a grimoire filled with black magic. When Judas starts fighting, Grimoire floats alongside him, since it's the main focus of his power. In the first form, Judas is very hard to hit in close quarters; get too close and Grimoire will teleport him away from you, unless of course he's facing the other way, in which case you hang a beating on Judas as Meat Boy. Judas' main attack involves summoning burning Blood Crayons and throwing them at the targeted character, which makes the arena all the more dangerous since the crayons can hurt you even if you didn't get hit at first. (floating magical book, throwing projectiles of burning blood, ring any bells?) The second phase of the Judas boss fight results in the previously-closed Grimoire opening up, meaning that the boss can now use new spells, including unleashing a rain of burning crayons from the skies, summoning enemies, etc. In this phase, Judas' own health is close to zero, yet is protected by a forcefield akin to if one used Book of Shadows; to defeat the boss you must focus your attacks on Grimoire, meaning Meat Boy will need to do air-based attacks like Uppercuts and Glide Kicks to properly hit Grimoire, whilst Isaac just needs to shoot higher than normal. Grimoire tends to teleport if it takes enough damage, but it's easy to get to him if you can get past Judas' firey crayons. When Grimoire explodes, Isaac walks towards Judas, who starts scrambling backwards frantically until he hits a wall. As Isaac gets closer, he experiences a quick flashback; he remembers when he was being bullied by some beefy kid (Judas scurrying from Isaac echoes Isaac scurrying away from the bully), and ended up paying 30 cents to his friend Jessie, in exchange for her beating up the bully. She gets in trouble, taking the blame, whilst another friend of his accuses Isaac of betraying his friend by not taking the blame; this image is shown twice; the second version showing Isaac wearing a fez. Isaac snaps out of it, only to see Judas grinning and about to throw a Blood Crayon at Isaac. The crayon is thrown, Meat Boy dives in front of it, and gives Isaac a thumbs-up before exploding; this causes Isaac to reach into Judas' throat and rip out his tongue; the latter then chokes to death. Isaac runs over to Meat Boy's gibs, falls to his knees, and has another flashback; it is a time shortly after the funeral, and Isaac is in his room, writing a letter to God pleading for him to bring Maggie back. After receiving no answer after many days, neither in the mail nor whilst praying, he writes a letter to Satan with the same pleading, and puts his pet goldfish in the envelope as a sacrificial offering. Shortly afterwards, Isaac receives an ironic gift; a wig that makes him look like Maggie. The flashback ends when Meat Boy taps Isaac on the shoulder (he always comes back since he has infinite lives), and after a hug Isaac takes Judas' fez and throws away the tongue before jumping down the Trapdoor. The Betrayer's Fez is the Judas Personality item, allowing Isaac player to start out as Judas, with increased damage output and higher Energy (Energy determines how many units of energy it takes for a Special Item to recharge, as well as how many pieces of "Candy" most Subweapons consume per use), but as a side effect Judas is cursed with low Health and bad luck. Judas players would do well to avoid close-range brawls, instead using ranged attacks, subweapons and special items, as well as not relying on chance to make things go their way. Should you kill Judas as Judas, however, Isaac does something different with the tongue; he eats it, much to Meat Boy's dismay and disgust. Isaac then utters something dark under his breath and the exploded Grimoire comes back together; now the player has Judas' Special Item, Grimoire Gerald. Gerald is rather unique, since he counts as a Subweapon, a "Spacebar" Item, and a Collectible all in one. The Subweapon fires Bloody Crayons, which can be charged up to let loose up to 5 crayons at once, the Special Item summons Clotfiends, which are kind of like friendly Leapers that shoot enemies, and the Collectible part generates a temporary Book of Shadows shield over Judas if he has 2HP or lower (about half a Heart; Heart Containers now hold 4HP rather than 2, similar to later Zelda games).

In the fourth Chapter, titled Depression/Pain, has Eve as the Chapter Boss, representing the pains Isaac felt when bad things started happening, both the emotional sort in the case of Maggie dying and his dad (Abe?) leaving, and the physical kind when his mother became abusive and the bullying began again at school. Eve is not seen at first, but is heard in the darkness of the arena, weeping and crying. Suddenly, the crying stops, only to be followed up with a scream of agony that synchronizes disturbingly with several Sconces bursting into flames, and a murder of cawing crows fly out of a distant tunnel. As the last of the crows exit the tunnel, Eve is seen emerging, teary-eyed and bloody-wristed, yet nonetheless gazing hatefully toward Isaac and Meat Boy; if playing as Cain, she is shown smirking as she approaches, but when she sees that it isn't actually Cain she looks surprised, then gives a stronger hateful look as the fight starts. If entering as Judas, she looks very angry indeed, for reasons soon to be revealed. Similar to Magdalene, Eve's melee attacks involve grabbing, though this time she throws the character to the ground and starts beating the living daylights out of them, but she can be repelled if the character kicks her off of them, or if Meat Boy hits her. However, when she takes damage, crows fly in from different directions to attack you, so don't damage her too quickly or you'll be overrun with crows. When she reaches half-health, she enters her second form, in which she becomes faster and shoots tears at you, with larger crows being summoned as she takes damage in this state. When her health is critical, she collapses, seemingly defeated, and Isaac has a flashback; Jessie is crying, having hurt herself after falling off the jungle gym, Isaac walks over and tries to comfort her, giving her a band-aid and a hug. Flashback ends, Isaac is shown hugging Eve; initially she's still crying, but then snaps out of it and punches Isaac in the stomach, causing him to recoil and have another flashback; this time Jessie is angry at Isaac for getting her in trouble, possibly related to the time he paid her to beat up the beefy kid, and slaps his face as Isaac is shown wearing the fez. Isaac comes to his senses, with Meat Boy trying to make him snap out of it, and sees Eve get to her feet, holding a razor blade. She slashes at her palms, and as she starts to warp and darken Meat Boy picks up Isaac and starts climbing the walls in an effort to get away from Eve's rapidly-growing Final Form, the "Whore of Babylon". This third stage of the fight is similar to part 2 of Maggie's boss fight, only this time it is vertical, platforming up the rugged face of a massive obsidian volcano to get away from the huge winged demoness of the night winds that is the Whore of Babylon, with the perspective being that of the WoB herself as she shoots Brimstone and sends massive black eagles at the duo. In this part of the fight, you can't attack Eve; only by reaching the top of the volcano can the final part of the fight begin. Within the dormant caldera of the volcano, Isaac and Meat Boy must use the platforms to their advantage and dodge the Brimstone beams sent down by the Whore of Babylon; though Meat Boy can only seem to fend off the eagles, he can also toss Isaac up to higher platforms at shoot tears and subweapons up at the boss (unless Isaac has amazing range by this point), though Isaac may need to drop down from time to time and hide under platforms to avoid the vicious rainstorms of scalding blood that she calls down from time to time, during which even the eagles must take cover. Once the Whore of Babylon has been defeated, it falls into the volcano, causing it to tremble and groan, motivating Meat Boy to grab Isaac and throw him off the rim of the volcano onto an eagle, flying away before the massive flaming cone blows its top, whilst Meat Boy ends up a good deal more than well done. The eagle lands on a cliff and shakes Isaac off, and as the bird flies away, Isaac looks up and sees a bright light hurtling towards him. With a quick dodge, he narrowly avoids the massive charred skull of the Whore of Babylon, overdone to the max and weeping postmortal tears of blackened gravy, whilst Meat Boy spawns nearby. Whilst Isaac stares agape, Meat Boy simply snaps off one of it's horns and uses it to pry open the nearby Trapdoor, jumping down to the next Chapter. Isaac follows, but not before looking back for a moment. He briefly contemplates what he's seen, both in life and in Hell, then shakes his head and jumps down through the Trapdoor.
Those were the first 4 end-bosses; i'd do more but i've got other things to do. However there are more Chapters; Chapter 5 being about Anger and Violence, with Samson as the end-boss; Chapter 6 being Acceptance and Death with Blue Baby; Chapter 7 concerning Atonement and Sin with Luke, the "demon baby" representing Isaac's Sin; Chapter 8 being the assumed final chapter, culminating in the final battle with the evil Chef to rescue Bandage Girl; and finally there are three Chapter 9's, each with a different incarnation of Satan residing within; the kind of Chapter 9 reached depends upon which items were acquired throughout the adventure; having mostly Holy items permitting passage up towards the "Light" Ch9 in the Garden of Eden, mostly Sinful items leading down to the "Dark" Ch9 in Cocytus, and mostly "Meat" items resulting in a journey into the "Meaty" Ch9 within Bandage Girl. All I have for now; tirrah. (PS sorry if it's long)
Did someone in this thread mention a file you could delete that would make your secrets unlock correctly? My secrets haven't been unlocking in the list in game since WotL.
So apparently Isaac has a very good chance of coming to consoles/vita/something. Ed's talking on his forumspring; things to note -He and Florian won't be touching it for the most part, Ed said he'd be overseeing it, but that's about it. -The art will be redrawn by a different person/team, they'll use his old sprites as a guideline but will be different somewhat. -He wants to add "a shit ton" of content, and stuff he couldn't fit in due to flash. Co-op is one of those things he name dropped. -He doesn't know how spiders work. That's why widow only has 4 legs.
I know you've all heard of the I AM ERROR room, but I've never seen a .gif of it. I was surprised to see how weird it really is.

Sounds pretty cool.
So Isaac is getting rewritten? Sweet, that's what I always hoped for.
I tried drawing some characters, but fuck all, am I bad at it.
words
I've always thought you were completely insane when you wrote those TF2 weapon ideas back then. Always incredibly far fetched ideas. I see you haven't changed. :v: I'm liking this though. You should totally team up with a few motivated artists and programmers, that would be potentially quite awesome.

[editline]13th July 2012[/editline] Preferably at the same time as consoles, I might add. I hate when consoles get upgraded versions that take forever to hit PC. I love Spelunky, and I bought it on XBLA, but I'm a bit miffed it won't be hitting PC until some time next year, for example.
I'm all for the recoding of the game so he can add more features, but I always liked ed's artstyle, I don't know if I'd look at the new binding of isaac in the same way I do right now. I mean, the current artstyle of b.o.i. makes it look like it was drawn by a little kid, which I'm fine with. Maybe I'm speculating too early, maybe the new artist will be on par with edmund and the new b.o.i. will end up being much better.
