the boss battles are kind of an internal apocalypse for him, but not his innermost;
Oh, come on. You aren't even trying to wax poetic!
It was an intended reference, actually.
I used to always imagine TBoI was taking place during the rapture, or apocalypse of sorts. Where the very fabric of reality is coming undone and the world is twisting into a nightmarish mockery of itself. You're just locked away in a basement over hell itself while this happens. After WotL came out I switched to the fever dream idea.
Fever dream does indeed seem likely; either that or Isaac died long ago and is stuck in a loop of runs as his "penance" in some dank limboish corner of Hell, every time descending into the Basement (or Cellar) to live out a horrific drama of conflict and abuse, with death/completion resulting in being returned to "the Room", as "innocent" as the day he first entered the Basement, with no upgrades and no memory of what happened, though sometimes he lapses into alternate personalities.
Beat Mom my second time with 2 hearts from near start to finish as Isaac. Once I got the book that grants invincibility and poison touch, it was just a matter of get to boss, use book and chase after him.
God damn, I'm loving this game. On my 6th playthrough ever, I beat Mom's Heart for a second time. The robo-eye-lazer doohicky made it really easy, especially as Judas using the Book that grants double power. I also now have all of the characters except for Eve.
The fuck. In 6 playthroughs you beat Mom's Heart? TWICE? I have 50~ deaths and only got to Mom's leg once and died halfway through. The fuck mang.
The fuck. In 6 playthroughs you beat Mom's Heart? TWICE? I have 50~ deaths and only got to Mom's leg once and died halfway through. The fuck mang.
The section of the game before and including Mom's heart/It Lives is incredibly easy if you know your way around mechanics and how to minimize damage.
The Womb is so easy compared to the Depths/Necropolis [editline]17th July 2012[/editline] Excluding some boss fights like Death, Daddy Long Legs and Bloat(fuck Bloat)
No, I'd definitely say Womb is harder than Depths, if only because blue rocks aren't visible. Speaking of which, tip: if you have IPECAC/Epic Fetus/Dr. Fetus/lots and lots and lots of bombs, blow up every flesh-rock-substitute-thing. If it's a blue rock, it will look the same as any other.
The section of the game before and including Mom's heart/It Lives is incredibly easy if you know your way around mechanics and how to minimize damage.
Maximize not minimize
Maximize not minimize
No: minimizing damage to yourself. If you're not getting hurt, you can't fail, even if your item build is absolute TRASH.
The fuck. In 6 playthroughs you beat Mom's Heart? TWICE? I have 50~ deaths and only got to Mom's leg once and died halfway through. The fuck mang.
Make that 3 times in 7 playthroughs, meaning I died on 3 other runs. As stated above, my 8th playthrough was a bust as well. Oh well.
No: minimizing damage to yourself. If you're not getting hurt, you can't fail, even if your item build is absolute TRASH.
Maximize damage done to enemies, minimize damage done to yourself
I find that not getting hit at all makes runs pretty easy even when I pick up no items. Bit long though.
While I haven't been playing too long (only 16 hours according to Steam), I find that my survival skill degrades the longer a fight drags on.
Two gold chests, lucky foot, locked gold room - 0 keys. I want to cry

Achievements in this game don't seem to be unlocking, sometimes I get them next time I launch the game...
Achievements in this game don't seem to be unlocking, sometimes I get them next time I launch the game...
That's a fairly common bug.
[thumb]http://i48.tinypic.com/2zjhp47.jpg[/thumb] Fairly interesting run. Very "simple" drops. I didn't pick up anything game defining, like Brimstone or Technology. I still have to try and take down the Heart, but I'm really doubtful I'll be able to pull that off with this setup. But we'll see. This is my first (partial) victory with none of the aforementioned game defining items. It was really irritating early on because I could not find any keys. It ultimately paid off pretty well though: I unlocked Samson as a reward for my resourcefulness and dodging skills. Note: the book of shadows was picked up on Depths 2 and I found no devil rooms.
Achievements in this game don't seem to be unlocking, sometimes I get them next time I launch the game...
I have never gotten an achievement pop-up from Steam while in-game. I always get them when I launch the game.
How the fuck do you guys actually progress? I always get trapped in a room with like 2378956347 flies and they eat my health before i get to the boss room.
You just gotta be slick and slip through any cracks in between projectiles and enemies. Your hitbox or whatever it's called is actually quite smaller than you think. Sometimes I've come out unscratched when I've appeared to have gotten hit once or twice. Also quickly assessing the situation, but acting in a calm manner is vital. Don't rush, and stay on the defensive.
Max, my rule is that if I get a shitty starting item I reroll (Aka Restart the Game). And you can't blame me for doing it when I'm trying to beat [sp]???[/sp] as ??? and get Charm of the Vampire :|

killed mom after 20 hours...for the first time.
How the fuck do you guys actually progress? I think the only flies that actually hurt you are the flashing red ones. You can touch plain black ones, and I think you can touch the ones that shoot projectiles. Just don't get shot by them.
Damn telepills.
Late but that isn't impossible to pass. Walk out, die, respawn, walk out again and survive
Does any one else get the bug where making a deal with the devil will take away all your spirit hearts, and is there a way to avoid it happening?
I had no hearts so it was a 3 spirit heart deal yet it took everything.
