I wish I had the polaroid unlocked because this is fucking insane.
I wish I had the polaroid unlocked because this is fucking insane.
The Sacred Heart is one of the best items in the game. I've never died on a run where I've picked it up. I don't think I can say that for any other item.
"The Binding Of Isaac V3 - *posts picture of enemy* "FUCK THIS GUY" Edition"
The only things i lose to are fucking hosts. It doesn't matter how good my run is, when i see those fucks i just give up all hope.
Just beat Mom & Mom's Heart for the first time with Maggy. Sadly I didn't get a chance to do Sheol. Was a great run that was defined by Sacred Heart (magnificent item), 10 heart containers, and 3 separate flying items. I'm fairly certain I could have gotten my first Sheol victory on this run, but that's the luck of the draw I suppose. Also, I agree with most of the above conversation about "The Bloat". Unless I have some ridiculously overpowered item build, I have a really hard time beating him. I'm fairly certain he's harder than both Mom and her heart. He'd be a perfect boss that didn't seem like he was just cheating if there was a quarter to half of a second "tell" before his laser beams. I've unlocked 4 endings, played for 27 hours, and died 91 times. It is a bit "unfortunate" that the cheapest game I bought during the Steam sale is the one I'm playing the most! EDIT: Am I correct in assuming that you either play Eve as a weak but otherwise normal character or get some great Soul Heart drops and just keep Babylon up forever?
Time for me to talk more about my Isaac & Meat Boy idea, this time concerning Guppy. When Isaac and Meat Boy first start their adventure in Chapter 1, they start out at a huge golden chest. Isaac goes to open it, only for a familiar cat to pop out, smoking a gold-plated pipe and wearing many golden earrings.
Remember all those times Isaac died in his personal hell, all the times he left all he owned to his cat Guppy? Well, turns out that Guppy ended up in Hell, probably due to misplaced paperwork or an overworked angel or him doing things he shouldn't have done (he ain't no dog after all), and every time Isaac left everything he'd owned to his cat, Guppy actually got those items. Being a smart cat, possibly due to one of the items he inherited , Guppy started using the items he'd been given, and sold what he didn't need to any demons who wanted more power. As Isaac did run after run in the "Basement", Guppy gained more and more items, and by the time Isaac finally leaves the Basement, Guppy ended up as pretty much one of the richest entities in Hell, head of what could be regarded as Hell's biggest chain of convenience stores (called GuppyMart no less), even putting Mammon (Binsfield's personification of greed), the original lord of Avarice, in a position of inferiority. When he meets Isaac for the first time, he's in two minds about it; on one hand he's really happy to meet his best pal, the guy who helped him become one of the greatest powers in Hell; but on the other hand he's concerned and worried that his main supply of items has essentially dried up, since he had so many items to sell that he didn't need to invest too heavily into manufacturing or R&D. With this in mind, Guppy sets a plan in motion; if Isaac doesn't need an item, he can send it to Guppy, who can either keep it in storage or sell it on, the latter giving Isaac a cut of the proceeds at the cost of the item. Being that the number of Items Isaac can carry is limited in IAMBGTH, you'll want to send more or less every item you find to Guppy, either to save for situations when you'll want or need a different build, or to get some things for items you just don't need; note that the payment can vary, Guppy can offer a reliable cut of coins, or put forward a "Mystery Box" that contains stuff like keys or matchsticks or "candy". Each Dungeon has a chance to contain a GuppyMart of some description, manned by a salesdemon who looks like a dude from Clerks or Mallrats, and offers stuff in exchange for coins. However, sometimes one can find a GuppyMart+ in the Overworld by blowing open Cracks, where there's a higher chance for them to sell rare items. Sometimes, however, you might find Mammon's goons trashing a store; they might seem powerful, but if you defeat them the clerk'll put one of the items on sale. Patronising GuppyMarts and killing Mammon's goons increases the chance of Mammon appearing on the Overworld map in place of the usual roving enemies. Yep, Overworld has enemies that you have to fight when they get to you; very Zelda 2 indeed. Mammon's pretty much Greed as a Boss; if he hits you you lose money, but if you kill him you can bring back a trophy to give to Guppy in exchange for a good item. So yeah; Mammon is pretty much a risk-reward kinda boss. However, you can lower the chance of Mammon attacking by spending money in Arcades or the Casino; the super-secret hidden Overworld equivalent. Whilst Mammon lost control of the items market, he still has a strong hold over the gambling scene in Hell, and there's all sorts of machines in those places that have their different uses; there are the usual Slot Machines, Blood Banks, Fortune Tellers and Three-Headed Men (beggar with the three skulls) from the original BoI, but there's also other special machines to use, some of which only appear in the Casino. For example, the Smelter is a machine for turning keys into money and coin-based collectibles like Bloody Penny, whilst the Kissing Booth is a bit of an unsettling gamble, a bit like Pills as a machine; the character pays 5 cents and receives a kiss from something, sometimes getting positives, other times getting negatives; Lust tends to give a character The Virus until the end of a Dungeon, Succubus decreases Energy/Stamina but gives you a few Spirit Hearts, Greed clobbers you over the head and steals some of your money, the Tentacles drag Isaac in and give him increased Range (let that sink in), etc. Mystics are more beneficial, though; they take money and a Tarot Card to predict your future, which can alter the nature of the next Dungeon you enter; Empress grants the Whore of Babylon curse for the duration of the Dungeon, Lovers increases heart drops, Chariot gives the chance for the character to enter Unicorn Mode when hit (similar to Unicorn Horn or Chariot, only it triggers randomly), and so on. Regardless, you can still blow everything up in the Arcade or Casino, but doing so drastically increases the chance of a Mammon attack, which due to the afore-mentioned aspects can sometimes be a good thing if you can deal with him, though if Mammon's too difficult to deal with it's best to play it safe and leave the Arcades unbroken. And with that, that's Guppy and Hell's economy in a nutshell; Isaac's cat is pimpin' rich and overpowered the original lord of Avarice, his stores are all over Hell and are in conflict with Mammon and his gambling houses.
One last thing; though Isaac's alt-chars are unlocked by beating the Chapters, Meat Boy discovers many of HIS "alts" when he finds randomly-occurring Warp Zones or collects enough Bandages, similar to the original game. Some Meat Boy alts could be Tim (Braid's time-warping science-guy), Steve (Minecraft's block-placing castaway), Commander Video (guy from Bit.Trip with gliding powers), Meat Ninja (assumed alt-future Meat Boy with short-range teleport), etc. Some Meat Boy exclusive items can also be found in the Warp Zones, as well as being Bandage unlocks. All I have for now, time for some more videos and writing. (crits pls)
Christ. Had a Brimstone at Basement 2, but only had half a heart. Instakilled by the boss. Either I have good items and no health or I have health and no good items!
All I have for now, time for some more videos and writing. (crits pls)
It's really special but I love your ideas. You should totally make a full thread about your ideas, I'd really like to read them all. By the way, would this game be a platformer or a top down dungeon crawler in the end? From the description of the bosses you gave some time ago it would sound more like a platformer, allowing Meat Boy's wall jumping abilities to shine while still letting Isaac shoot his tears in four directions.
another fucking good run My items
another fucking good run My items
Guppy's Tail was a bad idea. And so was Brimstone but heh I guess you couldn't guess that you'd get Cupid's Arrow later. Unless the items aren't chronologically sorted in that list.
They are. Picking up the tail was completely accidental though, and Brimstone was in a gold room so I was like "fuck yeah free lasers"
They are. Picking up the tail was completely accidental though, and Brimstone was in a gold room so I was like "fuck yeah free lasers"
To be honest I stopped picking up Brimstone. Unless I got Polyphemus or at least a flying item beforehand. It's good against weak enemies and piss poor against everything else unless you've got high damage (and for some reason it makes you believe that your damage is maxed out while it isn't at all, preventing you from seeing how much damage you're actually doing). I don't know if you've ever tried to fight Isaac with it but it's a nightmare.
It's a real pain in the ass having to charge it. I honestly prefer multishot upgrades over it, but it was the second time I ever had it (both times in a row funnily enough) so I figured I'd try it out.
I only had to candle him once and he would have died... :suicide: What happens if you manage to kill Isaac? Also ignore the 99s.
Find out by beating him !
I only had to candle him once and he would have died... :suicide:
Oh my god I HATE those guys. They teleport all over the fucking place and they won't ever shut up. I hate them more than clots, Headless Horsemen, Bloat or anything else.
Find out by beating him !
Yeah pretty much that.

From the description of the bosses you gave some time ago it would sound more like a platformer, allowing Meat Boy's wall jumping abilities to shine while still letting Isaac shoot his tears in four directions.
It'd be more or less a platformer when going through Dungeons and fighting enemies; Isaac's shooting would be a lot different from how it worked in the original game. Instead of the Tears being shot in 4 directions in a top-down situation, and vanishing after a certain distance, the IAMBGTH Tears would be more like firing a mortar; they're affected by gravity and require a different kind of aiming to maximise range. They'd be fired with the mouse, able to be fired in almost any direction (Up in the air, Down to the ground, Left, Right, sometimes even into the background like in Wild Guns), and their path of travel would make them fall, so shooting them at the right angle (45 degrees) would maximise how far they travel, though the maximum distance is defined somewhat by Range, which works more like Shot Speed than traditional Range, since the faster the Tears move, the further they can travel; good firing skill combined with a high Range stat can make for some well-aimed Tears. It'd take a bit more skill to aim these kinds of Tears, but skill would pay off, and there'd be items that could help aiming, like Telechnology (telepathic Technology; does no damage but helps predict the path of the Tears like Bjorn's power in Peggle), Bent Spoon (homing Tears), Moon Boy ("Lunar Tears" that fall one sixth as fast, like gravity on the Moon), stuff like that. Beam-like Tear-items like Technology (1 & 2), Brimstone, Piimote (that's right, a Wiimote that combines Number One with Technology), etc, wouldn't be bound by Range in regards to distance for the most part, though Range'd still have some effect on the Piimote, so make sure you get Range upgrades even when using Piimote. P.S, Piimote plus Koala Stone (all Pee-based attacks make enemies take more damage from melee attacks) is a good item combo.
I like the whole concept of tears being affected by gravity. Although I still think firing should be limited to up/down/left/right and eventually diagonals. Binding of Isaac is best played with the keyboard only and I feel like this game shouldn't be any different. As for the dungeons, I feel like it would be cool if they were like in Castlevania, rooms separated by doors or holes in the floor or the ceiling allowing you to travel up and down. Except randomly generated. Pretty much like the dungeons in Binding of Isaac but vertical. Hey you should totally PM me everything you've written up so far for this. I'm no super competent programmer but I definitely want to give this a try some time.

Having limited directions of attack would also make it simpler to fight as Meat Boy; that's right he has melee attacks, as he's hardened up a little since the events of SMB; he don't like being knocked around by some mutant freaks, so now he can punch and whatnot. Speaking of Meat Boy's attack scheme, even though I thought up the system before I played Rayman Origins, the scheme I thought up is damn similar to how Rayman fights in Rayman Origins, except Meat Boy isn't Mr Fantastic or lacking in limbs to connect his body parts. Also, concerning the dungeons, that system you mentioned was pretty much identical to my original thoughts; to be fair I drew inspiration from that flash game K.O.L.M, with the room-sizes not being equal; I initially thought about ladders or ropes, but then I decided Meat Boy would need to carry him if he couldn't reach places by himself; encourage cooperation for survival. Attempting singleplayer would probably need either switching between AI-controlled characters or having rope-ladders as an item. If rooms were uneven in size, secret rooms would probably be harder to find, so maybe faint cracks could act as a marker for observant players to bomb the wall/floor/ceiling/background? Also, is there any way to post attachments in a PM? 'cause most of my writing in in text files. Might sound strange, but I find it easier to jot stuff down in those, even though I have Microsoft Word.

So I beat Sheol on the Dr. Fetus challenge run. Am I correct in assuming that beating Sheol counts as 2 "end game" kills? I checked my stats page and had endings 4, 5, and "II" unlocked when I just had the Epilogue, 1, 2, and 3 before. I unlocked a crazy amount of what I hope is great stuff that run. Dr. Fetus, Quarter, Mom's Knife, A Lump of Coal, Mega Fetus, and The Gamekid.
It's ending 11, not II. If you're still beating Mom's Heart, it'll count as an ending towards that and the Sheol ending on top.
I'm so glad all the big bugs are fixed now. The game's so much better! I love the alt bosses now as well. Good on Ed.
I swear the game is mocking me. Three times in a row I play as bluebaby, three times in a row I get charm of the vampire and little chad in the same run. FFS.
Wow, that's uh, a tough draw. Maybe the next run may turn out better?
I just did a run that was somewhat challenging. No stat boosting upgrades at all, only 5 hearts. What I did have was 99 keys thanks to the Skeleton key, and the item that turned all your keys into Bombs. Needless to say that I blew up everything.
