Guys. I think I'm ready to beat Mom's Heart. :v:
You actually shouldn't fret. Mom's Heart is relatively easy, and is actually quite easier than Mom herself.
I know. I just wanted to show off my ridiculous item set. That was my first time beating Mom's Heart. I picked up Polyphemus on (I think) the first floor, I also had... Infestation, Harlequin Baby, The Pact, The Mark, Lord of the Pit, Cube of Meat, Tick, Squeezy Toy and 9-volt I think that list is a little short, but that's about what it was. :v:
I just had like, 7 hearts + 2 metal hearts with a pretty damn good damage output. And then i got a room full of 6 double-shot flies on a 3x6 tile map. And it all evaporated. [editline]20th July 2012[/editline]
I'd even say that The Bloat is the hardest boss in the game.
I don't think I've ever beaten Gurdy without Attack Fly. May just be supreme lack of luck but I give up if I see Gurdy anymore, regardless of what I have. Just too hard to deal enough damage with all the random fucking everything everywhere.
Enemies that fire two bullet's can't hurt you if you don't move. [editline]21st July 2012[/editline]
I don't think I've ever beaten Gurdy without Attack Fly. I just got ending 6 (I think?). It says the game is now harder. How much harder is it?
I just got ending 6 (I think?). It says the game is now harder. How much harder is it?
Barely noticeable. You'll get slightly different room and enemy layouts, but that's about it.
Barely noticeable. You'll get slightly different room and enemy layouts, but that's about it.
and less hearts from bosses, and more colored bosses/enemies
Enemies that fire two bullet's can't hurt you if you don't move.
They can if there is so many of them that they're pushing each other into you and around so that their shots come out of them at an odd angle and hit you anyway. [editline]jakt[/editline] okay lol, disagree with me. It's precisely what I did because it works on every other occasion except I nearly died in that room alone trying to.
I just got the giant, piercing cyclops eye tears on the first floor, they're pretty rad. Enemies die in 1 or 2 shots. It only took like 15 shots for a boss to go down. Even less so for the Duke and the Husk. I also must've had 20 soul hearts that round too. Also, I forgot how many times I beat Mom's Heart. Are the endings random or do they always go in the same order? Last time, Isaac got himself some rad money shades.
I find that polyphemus is only good if you get it late on so you know if your build benefits from a higher fire-rate over damage. Max fire rate + cancer with Max damage + curved horn, for example.
and less hearts from bosses, and more colored bosses/enemies
I also unlocked that today. I think it can really work out for you if you are pretty good at dodging. More colored enemies = more pick-ups overall. Also just won for the first time with Judas. Didn't get the option to visit Sheol, but not sure if I could have beaten it anyways. Up to 8 Mom's Heart kills and 1 or 2 Sheol wins (can't remember if I beat him before the Dr. Fetus run). Now if I could just get Spelunker Boy. Thankfully there's a lot of good tips on that type of stuff scattered throughout this thread.
Now if I could just get Spelunker Boy. Thankfully there's a lot of good tips on that type of stuff scattered throughout this thread.
I can't really help you. I did everything past the basement first with Polyphemus + Brimstone and accidentally didn't take any damage at all ( :v: ) and then later did the Basement with Judas. Just practice the fuck out of your dodging.
I was getting some pretty amazing runs today. Also got little Steven fro the first time. And I drew Chub, Envy, Monstro, and the Duke of Flies if anybody wants to see them.
I am about to cry. Had one of my best runs ever. Got to Isaac. Used the Bible. Forgot it kills you instead. I never want to play again. (but I obviously will) Also: Why would you do this to me, game?

If you make sure to target enemy spawners and don't stay in one place for too long, it's not that hard.
Heh, Larry Jr. just pooped himself into a corner.

Also abuse libraries with the D6, make the game give you items instead of books.
Use one, so it never appears on your run again. I like the book of sins, but two in the same library is just mean. Especially since you can't use one up and then use the other one up as well. They both share the same charge.
all of this for the anti-fly hat; no fucking devil beggar either
You'd probably need all those hearts for the Devil Begger to even give you anything good. Seriously, he's a little greedy bastard.
Use one, so it never appears on your run again. Also abuse libraries with the D6, make the game give you items instead of books.
I wouldn't be surprised if this gets patched out soon. But I wish it wouldn't. I suspect this because if you try to re-roll a cube of meat after fighting a horseman, it stays a cube of meat. And if you try to re-roll devil room items, they turn into other devil room items. So I'm guessing that library items are intended to just be books.
You'd probably need all those hearts for the Devil Begger to even give you anything good. Seriously, he's a little greedy bastard.
Book of shadows. He's never taken more than ten hearts to give me a god/satan room item.
And I drew Chub, Envy, Monstro, and the Duke of Flies if anybody wants to see them.
Go ahead.

So i am new to this and i find it incredibly hard to survive or beat the game, any tips?
So i am new to this and i find it incredibly hard to survive or beat the game, any tips?
Focus on learning the mechanics: Enemy attack patterns Aiming your shots (they inherit some of your momentum) How the items work Once you get those 3 down pat, you'll get into a rhythm. Winning will come much easier once you do that. Everyone learns at a different pace, so don't feel disheartened if it takes you several tries before you get comfortable with your ability.
Haha, I just had the most amazing game as Maggy. I beat The Chest and also went against Ultra Pride. Two achievements! It was so exciting. Does Tri-achnid still exist in the game? I have never came across him.
Does Tri-achnid still exist in the game? I have never came across him.
Yes, I fought against him once. My question is, what are the chances of getting the Daddy Long Leg item? Can you get it from Triachnid? Or only from the original boss?
My question is, what are the chances of getting the Daddy Long Leg item? Can you get it from Triachnid? Or only from the original boss?
You need to complete Purist to unlock it in case you don't know.
