Well, I just had a shitty run. Nothing but health upgrades. That sounds swell, but it made fighting everything so boring and painstaking. Fuck it.
You need to unlock it beforehand by beating the Cathedral with 6 different characters. Afterwards, she'll always drop it. Probably late.
I get it every time and I only beat the cathedral twice with two characters. I'm speshul.
just use justice, doesnt it give a heart?
I managed to pick it up, just before I was blown up I have no idea how I could have fucked up that hard
Well, he certainly won't be welcome in the church after that.
I don't think that will be a problem [editline]24th July 2012[/editline] I like fighting Satan more than Isaac because: a)He looks cooler b)He has unique voice and sound effects c)He is less luck based Seriously, when Isaac shoots back at you when you hit him and those light things are totally luck based
Actually, his lines are just Mom's lines reversed and pitch-downed
Really? That's even more awesome
5 luck up pills with cain...I can't wait to find an arcade
Pretty sure after like, the 2nd luck up pill, it doesn't do anymore, I got like 7 luck up pills one run and it didnt really change anything
So, a week or 2 ago, my friend sent team meat an email saying my game wasn't hard enough. Got this back from them [img_thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/9468339/email.png[/img_thumb] I've noticed more champion monsters than usual.
well shit, apparently the game doesn't mind that you get devil items without enough hearts, as long as you have the dead cat it just lets you live, it doesn't even take away a life from you.
I'm playing as ???, and suddenly, mom's pearl. Beat the boss, and the angel room has the mitre. AW YEAH, (blue) BABY!
Fuck fuckfuckfuckfkuck So, all this shit. 5 soul hearts, 4 normal hearts, polyphemus, max damage, 99 keys, and the FUCKING BIBLE. Enter a room on Depths I, and out springs like 6 of those fucking green things that shoot explosives, go down to 3 normal hearts. Blah blah blah, continue on. Then suddenly, a wild Bloat appears. I got him down to 1/5 health, when he uses that laser attack and I'm like a inch away from it. I died anyways. SON OF A BITCH. WHY THE FUCK DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO HARD.
Does anyone know how to back up a save, so you can safely delete it and switch between your old save and your new save?
Does anyone know how to back up a save, so you can safely delete it and switch between your old save and your new save?
That text file in your BOI folder
I didn't even know that you could make a save :v:
I didn't even know that you could make a save :v:
The save just contains what items you've unlocked; it's not a traditional game save. [editline]1[/editline] McMillen said that flash can't make mid-game saves and that's why Isaac doesn't have them.
Oh, that's what you meant
Indeed; it's more like a log of current items if anything. If it were a save, and Isaac runs were longer and bigger, the kind that take more than an hour, then technically it would be "save scumming", the practice of copying save files to circumvent permadeath. Apparently it's frowned upon in roguish circles, and I can see the logic behind such qualms; if you're circumventing the permadeath in a game that has permadeath, you're not getting the whole experience, since permadeath is an important part of the model. Even if the permadeath is an optional thing, save scumming with permadeath is kinda pointless; you might as well play with the permadeath off. In regards to Baboo's words, concerning the impossibility of mid-game saves, I guess I can understand, though the possibility for between-stage saves is still possible, but it wouldn't fit traditional Isaac. And one last thing before signing off; if there actually is a "recode" of Binding of Isaac for consoles, and it revamps the PC version, it should come with modding tools; so many amazing yet horrific things could be made with it.
You said permadeath in that post 7 times. It bugs me :v:

relatively unrelated to the binding of isaac but does anyone else think these two look a lot alike
relatively unrelated to the binding of isaac but does anyone else think these two look a lot alike
Edmund is way more arousing.
Save scumming is acceptable if it's an unavoidable byproduct of a save system. And Isaac certainly could use a save system. It's incredibly difficult for me to find an hour and a half to just play videogames, which is a problem if I want to play this game. As for the remake of Isaac, McMillen said that it would have an option to save (if I recall correctly). By the way, you could easily design a save system that doesn't allow for save scumming. In between levels, it asks if you want to save. When you load the save, it immediately gets deleted. That way, you can get to a convenient stopping point if you need to, but you can't load the same save again and again. I suppose you could copy/paste the save file, but there's no point in stopping them if they want to cheat that much. [editline]1[/editline] I didn't say permadeath in my post just for you, DustySheep. [editline]2[/editline] Whoops, I guess I just did say it now.

The Witcher 2 had a pretty cool way of doing it on permadeath mode (can't remember right now what it was called).
My PC can run most games at high/max, but with Isaac I get slowdown when entering a room, for a few seconds or so.
I do too
Holy shit, mom's contacts + pinking shears is a killer combo. That plus the nun's habit got me through the Cathedral (on my first try) without barely taking a scratch.
