I just accidentally did the trick with the dead cat and bosses. Picked up the Box after killing Larry jr, it dropped a troll bomb that I couldn't get away from, and HOORAY, I get to fight him again.

Indeed; if used correctly, Guppy could act as a sort of multi-use Forget Me Now; which makes sense since the more bosses Isaac defeats before he dies, the more items Guppy inherits. If Guppy were a person, he'd probably be Harry Enfield, or more appropriately Richie Rich.

That's a bug, it counts the Polaroid segments from times you have beaten the Cathedral, and not from different characters beating the Cathedral. It'll tell you when you get the Polaroid.

Whore of Babylon is a great item if you're playing as ??? (or get guppy's paw and pretend that you're ???). Other than that it's rarely really worth it.
Really the best way to play Eve is to get rid of your actual hearts and stock up on soul hearts but if you're already doing that you might as well just do ??? from the start.
They should really buff her base damage to 2. That way she has 4 damage in demon form which is acceptable.
I like how finding the D6 with a Space Bar item already on you that sucks like Lemon Mishap is like 2 rewards in one.
Because you get this fucking awesome Space item and then [I]poof[/I], the Lemon's are now Technology.
I've never seen Book of Belial, Bible and Book of Revelations in the Library.

And Monster Manuel's recharge time is hilariously high. Even if they buff it so it recharges after every room, it would still be decent at best.
I'm not quite sure why they didn't buff items when they could. Like for instance giving Lemon Mishap and The Bean Blue Candle's recharge.
Other than playing as Judas, the library is my usual way of obtaining the Book of Belial so it does spawn there. So does book of revelations which I usually piggyback through the level and then switch back to whatever space item I had if I don't want to outright switch to it.
Also, fuck the challenges that don't have item room spawning enabled. I might as well be doing the purist because the items they start you out with are all rubbish.

I've played this game for more than a hundred hours and beaten the cathedral and everything, but anytime I have to fight these guys head on I die. The wiki says to shoot them from behind, but they just turn around to face me if I try to.

Shoot them in the face first, it 'blinds' them so they continue on their path until they hit something, like a wall or whatever. Do that, then slip behind them and fire.
In The Chest, I basically knew I wasn't going to last very long. I survived long enough to find the boss room, but with only 1 heart left. So I backtracked to go pick up the drs remote to replace my dice a few rooms back. On my return journey back to the boss room, I walked right into a pile of flaming poop.
Somehow, I got, in order: Mr. Mega, Pyro, Bob's Curse, and Bobby - Bomb. It was a beautiful miracle of explosions, and I pretty much switched over to using bombs instead of tears for the most part. I even got tons of health items and two blood bags, and got to get Brimstone and Spirit of the Night with 5 hearts + soul hearts left over. Had a Crystal Ball, and was holding onto a Sun card for Mom, and Joker card to get to Sheol.
Then I died from an explosion right as Mom died.
Ahhhhh
I've gotten Bobby, Mr. Mega and Dr. Fetus once (Bob's curse wasn't in the game back then).
It was glorious.
I'm kinda sad you can't find 2 items in the shop anymore.

Also the items were brother bobby,vampirism,book of shadows,tons of health ups,coat hanger,the rock(dmg up),and the drug that increases your damage and speed.

I always considered maggy and eve the worst, I mean, the extra health on maggy is nice and all, but that's the only up I can think of.

Maggy's the only one i can get far with.
As Eve,well that is harder for me,the hp and the damage is killing it for me.

Maggy spawns with the yum heart so as long as you get the habit you are pretty much set to go.

Yum Heart is terrible. Revelations and The Nail both outclass it entirely.
Just had perhaps my best run with Cain. First item room contains the pill bottle and first shop contains the habit. This meant that every 2 blood donations I was guaranteed a positive pill. Along the way I get the error room by using telepills and it's the one that's full of pills.
All of my stats were at maximum, I had over 8 normal hearts and no clue about my spirit hearts since I got the relic very early too. I also had super meatboy, a TON of pretty flies (if only they'd stack higher than just 3 orbitals) and both Maggy and Robobaby. Combine it with the mutant spider and candle and I was an unstoppable beast. And even if I would have died I had a 1-up shroom.
When I got to Isaac I just stood there and wailed at him. His pathetic tears didn't even touch me a single time even when I stood still the entire fight.

Oh and I also had the cancer trinket and cat-o-9tails meaning I spammed quad tears like a motherfucker.

oh the days when Nail gave 2 spirit hearts per use.
Cain is easily the best character. One stop in an arcade pretty much guarantees you beating the game.

Yum heart and habit make you invincible as long as you use it every time it charges up.
