I'm sorry but holy crap 2007 and only 6 posts?
That's some real lurking
I forgot I had an account until last week. Does this truly bother you enough to completely disregard my statement?
So as I was saying, the thing about Samson is that if you're any good at dodging projectiles, you shouldn't be taking much damage on the earlier floors. By the time you make it to The Depths, you should have picked up between 1 and 3 HP ups, as well as a few soul hearts (and hopefully the Book of Revelations). If you can maintain that level of dodging prowess through The Depths, you really don't have any threat by anything other than Satan or Isaac (which you can easily dispatch by that point). This is all backed up by the fact that you'll be doing absurd amounts of damage in the later floors due to Bloodlust and whatever other powerups you find.
Of course, this is all purely based on how much the game hates you that day.
I havent played Isaac for about 2 months. Is there anything major that I missed? TIA

This strategy applies to every character.
The main difference is that Samson's bloodlust is useless in the only two fights that matter (Satan and Isaac).
well i win

*Attack Flies.
Pretty flies are the black ones that circle you and block projectiles :v
The Attack Flies circle you and run into nearby enemies, killing themselves in the process but most likely getting the enemy.
I know. I meant they look so pretty :v

Hold on a sec. Have you ever played as Samson? Because from the way you're putting things, it looks like you believe that the damage buff given by Blood Lust is permanent. Do you know that it resets after every room?
*Attack Flies.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong.
Attack flies are the two fly-items that circle you but at a wider radius and usually do more damage (Forever alone and Distant Admiration), the suicide flies are just called blue flies

Correct, but it might as well be permanent considering how many enemies you fight in each room. Each room usually contains at least 4 enemies or enemies that spawn other enemies.
Start playing as ???
Get a devil room that has the nail for sale after the first boss.
Get a shop that has the mitre for sale on the second level.

The hell? I beat the [sp]chest[/sp] with ??? and got Eve's bird foot?

And the achievement I got was for Samsons locket.
I don't even.
So I started a new game to try and finish the cathedral for the first time (using Isaac) and I get Dr. Fetus at the very first floor. Next floor, I got Mr. Boom and Mr. Mega in the next.
My first fight with [sp]Isaac[/sp] was so anticlimactic and now I've unlocked the D20. :v:
I've played this game for a bit longer now, and I have to say that it really is not a great game. Actually, I think it is the second worst game in my entire steam library of 37 games. A game which is 95% based on luck is by no means good.

It ain't based on luck you just suck.
Does anyone know of some type of comprehensive list of powerplayer tips and tricks? I see a couple tips scattered around in this thread here and there, but I feel as if at least one dedicated fan has to have compiled a list somewhere that is more than "dude did you know that blue rocks drop bombs"

The game is certainly based on luck, or at least for the most part, but the fun in it is making do with what you have instead of getting angry and quitting if you aren't granted the best setup every time. You can absolutely win without getting a single upgrade item but it'd be no fun because base stats end up being tedious to deal with on later floors. That's why chance-based item trees exist; whether you get fucked over or the RNG decides it loves you, everything is better than what you start with.
I just checked your Steam achievements for Isaac and you didn't even unlock the Polaroid ...
Oh. Well.. that's possible. I just trusted the wiki on this

I really wish they would allow people to, you know, edit a wiki, or maybe even have a discussion page. I changed the reference on Mom's page because boredom, but the Items page is protected against editing

Pages being protected is usually done due to vandalism or when there's a high volume of edits when there's brand new content and no one knows what items actually do.
The former has obvious reasons, the latter is just so misinformation doesn't get spread.
ahah fuck Conquest and his shitfuck god bloody dammit that is just absurd i dont even want to think about it
too silly

Just like you know how issac ALWAYS spawns with the d6.... AFTER you unlock it
Womb boss fight always leads to sheol/catherdral... AFTER you unlock it.
You know, if Sheol were to get another level added to it, here's something that I'd like to see.
I see Isaac going to Sheol as a representation of him fighting his sins, trying to drive Satan out of his soul. So the final boss would be the opposite of Isaac in the cathedral. I really liked the idea of a forest themed level that was suggested before.
The room would look like Mom's fight, doors on all four sides of the room. Isaac will be in the center, but will have two devil horns from the pentagram on his head. He will remain stationary, using only the spreadshot attack Satan uses when you are on his sides. "Isaac" will also have a Demon Baby familiar with him that will float towards you slowly while firing a single homing tear. Top priority would be the Demon Baby, because each time Isaac shifts into another form he will spawn another Demon Baby. Which can possibly result in 3 Demon Babies at once.
Like my previous idea, this Isaac will also use items from the game. These items will be Devil Room items however.
In Isaacs first form, he can use the Razor. This will cause 1-3 explosive shots to fire out in random directions and explode, leaving a pool of blood behind.
He can also use "The Mark" which will cause three red 6's to circle around Isaac. They will move farther away, then will all convulse in the center again before disappearing.
Once Isaac reaches 75% of his health, he will use The Nail and turn himself into a demon. While in this form, Isaac will charge up like he has brimstone however when attacking it will launch a "puke" volley of tears like Monstro does at the player. Some of these tears will be homing tears.
Once Isaac is in his second form, He can use the following:
Necronomicon: This will spawn four scythes randomly in the room like death. They will begin spinning, and after a short delay a second set of scythes will spawn. The first set will launch themselves at you, and after a short delay the second set follow.
Guppy's Paw: Isaac will hold up Guppy's Paw and the shrieking of a cat will echo through the room. All of the doors in the room will open, and a giant cat paw will burst from them and slam the ground similar to Mom's attack when you are close to the doors in her room.
Once isaac reaches 35% of his health, his final form will start. He will use Spirit of the Night and transform himself into a spectre-demon. In this form, Isaac will be mobile and his movement speed will be slow/moderate. Isaac will always try to keep the player in front of him. The reason for this is that his tear attack turns into a super brimstone laser, firing out a laser twice as big as the regular brimstone when the player is in front of Isaac.
In this form, Isaac can use every other item from previous forms and one final item.
Guppy's Tail: This item will curse you, reversing your movement controls for a few seconds.
Once Isaac has lost all of his health, he will begin to explode into a bloody cloud. He will fire a four way brimstone laser in all directions that will hurt the player if they touch them. After this, the game ends and either a new ending can be made or the same 13th ending will be played.
Finally got some decent runs at the Cathedral. 2 characters down, 4 to go.
I fucking hate this game. I fucking hate it.
WHY DO I KEEP PLAYING IT IT CAUSES NOTHING BUT PAAAAIIIIINNNN.
Allright so I beated The Chest as Eve and now... to beat The Chest as Samson <_>. I'am probably gonna shit my pants trying. Also does anybody know a what's the best character to use when you want to unlock a secret such as beat The Depths without taking damage?

I'd say Judas, his only downside is piss low HP and that's completely irrelevant when you want to do a no-damage run. Cain is a good one too, since he's slightly faster and more powerful than Isaac. Plus you get high luck as a bonus.
