I won't mind paying again. It was, and is, certainly worth more than $5 in my opinion.
"The Binding of Isaac" facebook page has been updated with this: http://sticktwiddlers.com/2012/08/27/the-binding-of-isaac-remake-coming-to-consoles-pc/ More info, I guess.
Is the remake also coming to PC as well? The article just talks about consoles.

I'm wondering what other item mechanics could be introduced without simply rehashing them (as is the case with the myriad of Speed/Range/Tears up items) or just creating upgraded or combined versions of older items (Squeezy acts as a Tears Up and Hierophant at the same time, for example). There's only so much stuff you can do in a dualstick-styled LoZ shooter/dungeon-crawler. I'm hoping for more items that are akin to the Blue Candle in their use, and less that are worthless or just plain imbalanced (some overpowered items are okay, but not in saturation). And I'm hoping he gives some of the horrid stuff some sort of buff. Lemon Mishap being the biggest offender; even the Poop has its uses to act as a shield or just a lottery attempt at a free drop. Lemon Mishap is just pitiful for what it is intended to do -- punish pursuing enemies.
There's still a decent amount of creative item ideas left. How about a Space Bar item that Maxes out speed? Or range? Or doubles tear rate? How about familiars that aren't just mish mashes of brother bobby? Why not a little flying demon who acts like a tiny version of The Fallen, minus blood beams, that activates when you take 2 hearts of Damage (akin to the Dead Bird)? Why not a Chargeable throwing item, like Mom's Knife, except it functions more like tears? (Isaac could toss, say, Pebbles that grow and go farther based on how long you charge, and shatter on impact). Why not a Versus Mode, in which you and another player race to Depths 2, and duke it out to see who would win in a fight? Whoever gets there first could get an item bonus of some sort. How about more Cards, Pills, and/or Trinkets? A Pill that Shrinks/Grows you, a Tarot Card that shoots out Tears, and a Trinket that randomly (1/10) makes you shoot in all directions? There's plenty of wiggle [del]worm[/del] room still left, this is onlythe surface.
Subweapons and "Candy" are still viable mechanics to consider, are they not? Also I wonder if Edmund'll implement different "campaigns", like going through a different succession of locations, similar to how Isaac endgame varies depending on whether you take the light column or the trapdoor. On that note, like I said before, Sheol should have a level after it like the Cathedral to the Chest. Also, items should have a description in the Item List that sort of describes how it relates to Isaac's life, kind of how Dark Souls has item descriptions that reveal bits of the lore. It'd be pretty cool from my viewpoint. Last though is this; a weapon that causes Isaac's tears to circle around him and fly in the desired direction when the fire keys are released, kind of like the Bubble Gun in Cave Story...
I'm wondering what other item mechanics could be introduced without simply rehashing them (as is the case with the myriad of Speed/Range/Tears up items)
Hey, don't rag on stat up items. They serve an important purpose.
Hey, don't rag on stat up items. They serve an important purpose.
Yes, they are important. But there's no need to have various items do the exact same thing, mix it up a little.
Edmund is working on a game jam with someone, Tommy from Team Meat I think. He has made a few posts on his formspring about it:
Q: How is Ludum Dare going? How is the experience? A: its honestly been quite amazing.. the game idea fell from the sky and is turning into a little monster. im not to sure what we will do with it yet.. i mean its no where close to being done but we might release a tech demo today or just hold off and release the finished game in a week. it has a lot of potential and we both want to finish it.. should be cool to see what happens with it . its about cats btw.

Q: Did you submit your game for Ludum Dare or is it a work in progress? Would like to see what you guys worked on. A: oh sorry sadly not many understood we werent doing Ludum Dare, we were just developing a short game along side it.. technically there were 2 of us so we wouldnt be able to be a part of the actual event. we finished out basic jam last night and loved the outcome so much we will be finishing it in the next week or 2.. could balloon it has a TON of potential and we both are falling in love with it. i guess this is why game jams are awesome, they inspire awesome shit for sure. ill post some screens and news once we are a few more days in so we know exactally what we are looking at dev wise. im 99% sure everyone will love it... it had me up till 7am last night playing it non stop.. and there isnt even a "game" yet. stay tuned

Q: Watching you talk about this jam game, the only thing I think is: Isn't that how you and Florian ended up making Isaac? smile A: yep.... and i kinda think this one could be another isaac :)
So yeah, for those who don't know, Isaac started as a game jam. Edmund is the shit, I hope he pops out another awesome game from this.
God, his hair is just so fabulous.
super fabulous
Fuck yeah, finally got around to beating mom with Blue Baby and got the D6. Used it straight after to get moms knife and chocolate milk. Wrecked everything.

I'm tired, Binding of Isaac thread. Have a half assed gif.
I don't usually have that problem; usually I turn in shortly after midnight and wake up around 10-12. Also those item ideas are neat.
The game decided to be generous to me and gave me the D6 even though I died in the womb. Not that I'm complaining that is.
I cleared my save a while ago, thought I'd get back to the game a bit. There's nothing wrong with Eve really. I see her as a slightly less convenient ??? who has the Whore of Babylon by default. If you get down to half a heart immediately, you can consider that you start with the same damage as Isaac, superior speed, and damage ups become twice more effective. Get a few soul hearts just in case you get hit, spend all your hearts in a Satan room as soon as possible, and bam, you're a better Blue Baby.

Seriously, that item is so fun.
What about the Bean recharging like the Candle, or even Tammy's Head?
Why would anyone want anything to be like the Candle? The Candle's thing is that it's wickedly overpowered.
I hate the isaac/??? fight more than fighting the mask or bloat. It turns the game from attack pattern based into a bullet hell, and you HAVE to stack health to get through it 90% of the time. Having a high fire rate/tech 2 also makes the bossfight twice as hard. On top of that, you HAVE to have the polaroid, which is always disappointing when I already have a much better trinket, like cancer. And you have to go through the same exact fight twice. [editline]29th August 2012[/editline] You need such a specific set of items to get through it, satan is just a much better and more original boss. Isaac felt like edmund was out of ideas.
Why would anyone want anything to be like the Candle? The Candle's thing is that it's wickedly overpowered.
Make the Bean and Lemon Mishap recharge like the Candle. Make the Candle recharge every two rooms. Bam, balanced three items.
I want an item that increases familiar damage.
man, fuck you champion mask of infamy i couldn't even shoot you so I had to let my dead bird kill you and it took almost ten minutes
Wait there are champions Mask of Infamy ? Oh no.
Make the Candle recharge every two rooms.
That's a bit extreme. All it needs is a longer recharge time, but still give it the ability to recharge within the same room.
Not made by me, but made by this lovely person here. http://thisthingyhasacharacterlimitof32.tumblr.com If you want one, you have until today to order one from her. She even has an etsy! Cute, yet deeply disturbing.
Samson looks awesome
tiny penises
I was gonna mention my doubts about the koshericity of them.
