Find any extra health lying around on the map before you need to go to the next floor? Turn each half heart into 2 uses of the IV bag.
Find an arcade or temperance card? Use the IV bag in tandem with the blood bank in order to turn the plays at either bank into twice as much payout, with the chance of the Blood Bank spawning a health upgrade to boot.
Got Dead Bird, Red Patch, Black Bean, or Infestation? Trigger it yourself without losing any soul hearts.
Want to keep yourself in the Whore of Babylon's cursed state without wasting those red hearts you come across or accidentally pick up?
Want to enter and leave a curse room without losing any soul hearts?
Cornered by a bunch of enemies that all deal 1 full heart of damage? Take only half a red heart of self damage instead, and get some money for your trouble. The same applies to Greed-based enemies, you can use the invincibility frames to avoid losing money to them if you're in a spot that you cannot avoid them.
Abusing invincibility frames is incredibly useful.

Alright, so I completed Cathedral as 5 characters, but I got pissed and in the moment, used Cheat Engine to make it so I can go to The Chest without Polaroid. I beat The Chest, yadda yadda yadda, so then I beat the Cathedral as my 6th character. I never got a Polaroid unlock thing, the main menu says THE END, and I cannot find the Polaroid. What do

Whoa, didn't expect that. To be honest I thought the last update was the last, because of Flash and whatnot. Nonetheless, we could probably expect some bugfixes and maybe another item or two. But after that BoI Flash is pretty much done, though nonetheless replayable as ever; still probably it'll take a year for the New Binding of Isaac to go gold. Didn't the original take 5 months to develop to release?

Yep, that's pretty much what I meant when I guessed it would probably take a year for New Binding of Isaac. Also i'm interested in the "Mystery Man" character planned for the remake.

At the surface, Mystery Man sounds near identical to the Randomized character that was discussed here and then migrated to Edmund's formspring. He spawns with randomized items, essentially making him a wildcard.
We didn't get much more information other than that, he might have randomized base stats and starting keys/bombs/money as well. Or he might just be random starting items.
All we know for sure is that Edmund wants you to have to beat Mom in order to play a life as him so he's a lot more mysterious. Since the game defines a Mom kill as beating Mom's Heart or It Lives, it'll probably be only once you beat Womb/Utero 2, so he's near-par with unlocking ???, and it also means that the player needs to have the game fundamentals down pat before you can unlock him.
First run on reseting my save, Brimstone, The Pact, max tears, about 9 soul hearts, and 1 heart. Beat Mom easily.

Was Maggy with 11 hearts, a 1-up, and a 2 of hearts, so I figured it would be quite a waste... was glad I went with that, as I took a decent amount of damage fighting Isaac. 4 soul hearts wouldn't be enough. So now I've done the Cathedral as Isaac, Cain, Judas, and Maggy.
How many characters need to be Isaac in order to unlock the polaroid? I've heard 6, and all of them, but it looks like there's just 1 piece of the polaroid left on the main menu with just 4 done.

I heard it was six. Not completely sure though. I have beaten it with six (at least I think so), and I haven't gotten the polaroid yet. I'm almost tempted on deleting my entire save to fix it...

I got the Polaroid from beating Isaac only once. This was v1.0, though, so it might be changed.
The game just issued me the biggest "fuck you" to me as of now.
Isaac, damage-centric build using the D6, had pretty decent amount of health but very shit speed. Sheol, one room away from Satan and I get a room with 2 Greeds, one Super Greed and 4 of those pop-up turret guys (2 out of them was champion).
The screen was covered in projectiles and I didn't survive.
Book of shadows, Mom's Knife, Sacrificial Knife, Mitre. All in the first three floors.
Unsurprisingly, I just pounded a dead baby is his rectum. With a knife.
