Don't sweat it, its made to be difficult. I died 230 times until I beat Mom and Mom's heart. But now I can beat The Chest and ??? with no problem. However a friend of mine says its one of the easiest games he's ever played. I think he has Platinum God now, so it just goes to show that some people are just better than others but its very possible to beat the game.

Wait, so is it going to have a complete different style to the first one, or is it just a complete 16-bit version of the original ?
Earlier I was doing a Cain run with Wrath of the Lamb. I got the Infection, the Stem Cells, the Parasite, and some other shit, and was absolutely wrecking. I found Ultra Pride for the first time, and beat him, then died to a fly.

the biggest thing to keep in mind here is that development is just starting with the remake, nothing is totally set in stone and a lot will change over time. Im currently in full time development of Mew-Genics with tommy and we have a few other little tricks in store for you next year so my goal with Rebirth is to simply make sure the remake is top quality and then detail out the expansion and updates once development is much farther along… this remake wont slow down any games im currently working (and thats reason why someone else is doing it!).

The art style of BOI is like, a huge part of the appeal for me. It's a big part of things, I really can't see a 16bit version being appealing visually.

Yeah, the fact that it looked like a cartoon was one o the draws for me.
Well, that, and every time someone tries to do a modern 16 bit, they end up creating something that no retro game ever looked like. (*Cough*FEZ*Cough*) Though it would be cheeky to make the game look even more like the first Zelda game, which makes me happy.

I don't like how the question is a binary "which one do you most like". I can see massive flaws and benefits to each one.
The second and last ones have a very, uh, game boy advanced look to them if that makes any sense

As much as I love the art style, it gets a bit boring. I don't think your comparisons are relatable, because while Borderlands is known primarily for its art style, BoI is not.
I like the Basement 1 graphics best. The Cellar 1 graphics look way too small.

With retro style, the game is gonna feel...generic.
Why do I have a feeling Edmund knows that, but because of Nicalis(who's a pixel artist), he's changing BoI into 16bit

Saw the mockups, think 2 is the best of them, but I fucking hate it compared to the original art style.
I would really much rather he continued using the original style but enhanced the animations and effects so they look even more awesome.
