Same here; original style with better anims and effects is the way to go with Isaac.
I got my copy of Edmund's book A Cry For Help and my copy just came in yesterday. It's signed with the number of book that I got, I got 412/500. [img_thumb]https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49563908/Edmund%20Book.jpg[/img_thumb]
.... am i the only one who thinks this looks like shit?
It's not bad IMO, it's just generic, the mockups could have easily been a game on the GBA. The original has a unique style
I think that a style like that could work, but Isaac's mechanics are really closely tied to its graphical style so I think you'd need to rework how basically everything works.
While I prefer the original artstyle, I do like the LttP looking version.

I love the Link to the Past style one. I also put in my one dream feature as Dark Souls style invasion rooms where, if you were feeling particularly confident you could Xiaolin Showdown some poor basement dweller for one of their collected items. It's the only thing I could think of that would add something to the game that felt "right". Would require online though or some kind of fluid and well paced split screen. What did you guys write there?

I put some sort of multiplayer arena mode.
I love the last one, because it looks like The Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap. Which was the best/sexiest zelda game.
A co-operative mode where 2 players play on the same screens (by this I mean in the same ingame room, no hopping around the level and clearing it almost instantaneously)
With that in mind, d'you think it'd be better to have room-exiting require both Isaacs at the door or just have it require one guy? With the "one-guy-exit" thing, one could risk having incidents similar to that one GameGrumps episode of Goof Troop, whilst with the two-guy exit thing you'd have potential for the thorough guy to mop up anything left behind. Also the feature I wanted was "subweapons" a'la Castlevania; I talked about those MANY months ago, like how you'd collect "Candy?" (medical tablets) like one would collect Hearts, and the subweapon would use it up to function.
Every time I find a library I end up staying there for a long time to listen to this

It's lovely
Poll is over. 16 bit look is now set in stone. http://www.formspring.me/EdmundM/q/399321001835381353 [editline]1st December 2012[/editline] results will be posted soonish
so how long will it take someone to mod the old graphics back in d'ya think?
I'm not one to care about graphics for the most part, but why fix what isn't broken, the 16 bit style ruins the game feel, it looks like 90% of indie games now.
What do you guys have against the new artstyle? I think it's refreshing. Sure, pixel art is a little overused in indie games, but it seems kinda fitting.
What do you guys have against the new artstyle? I think it's refreshing. Sure, pixel art is a little overused in indie games, but it seems kinda fitting.
I don't think the new artsyle is bad, I just think that the old one was better.
fullres 5th can't say i like it
Personally, it looks fine to me. Yeah the originals are better, but since we're going to have it, this is the best one. I just wish the bodies were bigger. How's he going to represent the lucky left foot without taking up the entire leg? [editline]1st December 2012[/editline] How old is Isaac?
I don't think I'll have a fit over the art style, but if all they do is just replace the art and nothing more, I'll hate it. The thought of a 16-bit graphics with non-retro sounds just makes me cringe, and I find the retro sounds thing to be overused lately.
Man I love the new art style, it's refreshing.
I'm in the womb for the first time. Is it better to get out as soon as possible, or explore the whole thing?
Get out like the stare-eyed frog; after Depths 2/Necropolis 2, scrap exploration except for charging items, and try to find the boss as soon as possible.

You can get gambling rooms to the best of my knowledge, and they're not a bad idea if you want health or pickups.
I just beat the game. Mom's Heart was REALLY easy.
I just beat the game. Mom's Heart was REALLY easy.
If you made it that far without dying chances are you can beat the heart pretty easily.
I have the Habit, and the Prayer Card on the Meat 4 Ever challenge, and I basically just have eternal life, since Meat Boy wrecks everything, and my Habit and Card give me a new heart container every floor. It's hilarious. [editline]2nd December 2012[/editline]
Rebirth wont have online co-op? If it's not on flash anymore how hard could it be for them to add it? I don't have anyone to play with locally so I'll never get to play co-op
Well, even if it's not there on launch, here's hoping that EVENTUALLY Edmund implements it, even if he outsources the implementation.
Why do I have a feeling Edmund knows that, but because of Nicalis(who's a pixel artist), he's changing BoI into 16bit
Maybe I missed something, but why would that be? Is Nicalis going to be working on the game?
