Well over 100 hours dumped into this game and I've only gotten to the cathedral once or twice.
Fuck me.
Those are actually representations of Isaac with items. IE: top left is isaac with stem cells, the mulligan, and some others. Bottom left is Isaac with habit, squeegee, brother bobby, and sister maggy. On the right is Isaac with Spirit of the night, technology, and spider boy.
I knew that; I was just imagining how they'd be as bosses.
I don't know how but I spent 160 hours on this game.
When's the updated game coming out?
I'd give it about a year.

Is this what being addicted to heroin feels like?
Maybe; I wouldn't know. Only thing I'm feeling now is like death warmed up thanks to the common cold.

You know, for the longest time I couldn't figure out why the tower arcana was bombs, then I realized, the tower is chaos. Sometimes I feel really stupid.
God, [sp]Isaac[/sp] is such a shitty fucking boss. Fuck him and his barrage of tears.
I've yet to fight him, but from what I've seen his attacks are mostly retaliatory with no real pattern to predict. If he had a bullet pattern like an actual bullet hell boss, he'd probably be a fair bit cooler.
Pretty much. You're just dodging projectiles all the time.
36 hours total put into this game and I just now got up to Mom's Heart and beat it. :suicide:
I only have one achievement left to get, and that's Platinum god.
And the only item I need to get, is the one that summons Daddy Long Legs?
I've never even seen the item, what's the best way to find it?
I swear Mom's heart gets easier every time I get to it, even the upgraded version.

I got to him once as cain, and i completely stomped him. Must have been posessed by the ghost of a touhou player or something.
I just gave this game my first 20mins
I love the art style (same guy that did super meat boy right?) but I don't see myself spending over 20hours on this game like most people I've asked.

I said the same thing at first, honestly I didn't like the game very much at all the first couple of times I played it, but the game starts to grow on you the more you play it. The further you get, the more enemies you see, and all the crazy items in the game with the different effects really turned the game from something I really didn't enjoy to something I play now to chill out.

I see. I'll still give it a go for the days to come :) Hopefully it'll grow on me like FTL did and other indie games

Man you guy's have racked up so many hours for such a small game. Why do I suck so much at it :(
Say, y'know a week ago when I talked about "Lucky Hearts", hearts that would fully-restore themselves when you complete a room? Well, I've just worked out how best they could be used; with Eve. Because Eve's playstyle revolves around taking damage and generally being at low health, replacing one of her Heart Containers with a Lucky Heart could prove to be useful, wherein she could afford to get hit at least twice before her real Health is at risk, and if she gets hit enough times to enter Curse state but still survive the room, she could be in permanent curse state with a Lucky Heart for protection.
The Lucky Heart would probably lie in front of Soul Hearts in the Life box, and they would not contribute towards Blood Bank transactions because of balance reasons.
Also, in relation to Eve's starting build, she should either have a bit more damage or have Red Patch in her trinket slot.
Damn, I've been playing this a lot recently, and I can pretty much always make it to the final boss (Cathedral one) but I die there. I've won twice, when I got the knife, but other times his massive amount of health causes me to start getting hit a lot. Then the angel babies finish the job.
Yep; that's definitely a thing with the final boss. It wouldn't be so bad if his attacks weren't so random; I've said this many times, but if he actually had a consistent learnable attack pattern like a bullet hell boss, he wouldn't be so frustrating, and you wouldn't have to resort to the Polaroid trick wherein you have half a Red Heart and a bunch of Soul Hearts to bring up a shield every time you get hit. That trick, combined with Eve's Whore of Babylon curse, would make it a fair bit easier and less chance-based.
Time to boot up a new run before I do some more Dota 2. That's pretty much my gaming pattern nowadays; Isaac and Dota.
While I love this game... there seems to be way too many items that do nearly the exact same thing, generic "Speed + Range" etc. Also, the spawn rate for certain items and bosses must be bugged.

I've found Book of Shadows and Habit to be a great combination against him. It takes 2 hits to charge the BoS back to max and then just hug him and keep shooting. I've won him 5 times now, even got the Knife, Habit, Book of Shadows and Virus one time, he stood no chance. :v:
That's another strategy for beating the final boss(es). However in the end it seems to boil down to getting the right assortment of items; with the right equipment you won't have as much trouble taking down the last boss, but since the game is very randomized you might not get enough good drops to make it happen.
Let's compare it to Dota 2 for example; yeah I know they're not all that similar, but they're both hard games that I've been playing so I might as well draw some comparisons. In Dota your character grows stronger if you participate in fights and get last hits, though it's two-fold; by staying in range of a conflict you get XP and can level up, which you need for enhancing your powers and getting more stats, yet if you are a Hero that needs more money in order to get more powerful, you'll need to get in some last hits in order to gather the gold you need to buy the items.
In Isaac your character-building depends on what drops you get; nothing is set in stone in Isaac, you can't look at a sheet of recommended items for your character and buy those things from the Shop when you have enough farm. Your character building is instead focused around exploration, gathering your resources to open the rooms and hope to find the items you need. In this regard one could call Isaac a survival horror game; you are struggling to survive in a terrifying world, scavenging resources and items just to survive against the next encounter, and sometimes life just shits on you and gives you bad items, sometimes even outright denying you items because you weren't lucky in your farming. It's not as simple as earning gold and XP for killing enemies; the only time anything close to that happens with Champions, Minibosses and Bosses, otherwise you just have to hope you get a good drop at the end of the fight, or that you have the resources needed to access the resources that're held just out of reach by a rock or chasm.
There is no "magic catalogue" wherein you can choose what drops next, no Secret Shop with a variety of powerful items; even the Shops in Isaac are randomized, sometimes you'll find a great item on sale, and other times it's an item you have no use for. The only thing close to a "guaranteed" item is in the Arcade, wherein if you are lucky, you can make the machines pay out; the Slot Machine has the Dollar, Fortune Teller has the Crystal Ball, Skull Game has the fly-neutralising Poop Hat, and the Blood Bank has a Sad Onion that rapidly transforms into a Blood Bag, even though there's now a chance for an IV Bag to pop out instead, which screws up the "guarantee" on Blood Banks.
I don't know where I was going with this, other than noting the differences between Dota 2 and Binding of Isaac, so I posit another idea; what if Binding of Isaac had an Overworld like in the original Zelda? I think I talked about such an idea when I talked about "Isaac And Meat Boy Go To Hell" back in the summer, but not in the "Zelda 1" fashion; originally I thought of a sort of Zelda 2-ish Overworld, with the shops and camps and dungeons marked on the Overworld map, but now I think a Zelda 1 styled Overworld map would be more fitting, with the Overworld separated into many screens which Isaac traverses in order to reach the various "Basements" in Hell.
Also, in relation to Isaac and Dota 2, would anyone fanart Isaac as various Dota 2 chars, like Isaac as Anti-Mage?
I hate Dead Cat with every fiber of my being.
I like this game but I'm so tired of playing this, by the tiem I reach the womb I just want to get the damn thing over with. I wish they let you save mid-run but make it so that the save gets deleted if you die or something.

You can abuse it by killing yourself after killing a boss, without leaving the boss room and without picking up the item. You basically get to fight the same boss 9 times. Every time you defeat the boss, a new item spawns on top of the previous one. If you avoid the pedestal while fighting the boss, you effectively get 9 items once you've used up all your lives, and you can pick them all up.
Of course that involves fighting a boss 9 times with only one heart and having some kind of item that can kill you. But that's not so hard, really.

Edit: Man there's nothing more than killing Mom and Mom's Heart with the Bible.
