I just had the most amazing run of my life i started as cain as i didnt have anyone but isaac and him (cains best anyway(also i was starting from 0 because i didnt have the game on steam before)), so i nearly gave up on level one beacuse there was a white hearth and i had no bombs to get to it, anyway i continued and got two pills which both gave me +luck, i got the left hand trinket which gave me red chests everywhere which every single one nearly droped two blue hearths.
I made two deals with the devil unlocking eve, somehow unlocked samson with getting treasure rooms, inbetween those i kept racking up blue harths which were not showing up on the sceen anymore i had harly baby and ghost baby with eye poped out, something that made me get atack flies in everyroom, spectral tears that are homing and deal tons of damage.i would just enter the room and press a button and everything in the room died, i got to mom wombs and killed her in about 8 seconds, completing my 3rd run i was sad that there was no satan room so i can go to sheol.
I proceeded to use my moon card and got to the secret room where was a fortune teeling machine which was a 100% get item chance because i picked up about 6+ luck up pills, when i left the room to an unexplored one i opened up a red chest which led me to satans room with a hole to sheol (fuck yeaaaaaaaaaah), i got hit once by a blowing up charging eye and faced satan, first form lasted about 9 seconds because of the intro 2nd 6 and his last also 6 seconds not getting hit once. Also my first time beating satan

Also I found it more fun to get rid of my hearts containers as soon as possible, by buying everything in a devil room every time it appears. It's much more fun to run only on soul hearts knowing that you have super overpowered items anyway. At some point I even had 0 hearts after buying a devil room item with no heart container and only a few soul hearts. In such situations, Dead Cat actually really helps.
I really hope Edmund is going to rebalance some items in the remake though, or add some variation. There is so many items that give you the ability to fly it's not even funny. Holy Grail is just an angelic version of Lord of the Pit, Fate is the same except it also gives you an eternal heart (or was it just a heart container? it's been a while), Spirit of the Night and Dead Dove are just "reskins" of each other and Transcendence, which is just a funny rare item. When you encounter Lord of the Pit and Spirit of the Night in the same devil room, you know something's wrong, because one gives you flying, the other gives you flying + spectral tears. Yet they both cost two hearts. That's a shame, I personally prefer the symbol on Lord of the Pit, it has something eerie about it.

Okay so I just had the best run ever.
First treasure room. First time I have ever gotten this:

The next treasure room had the wafer for half damage and I managed to get 7 total hearts and the book of shadows with poison touch. I also eventually got to Isaac for the first time and thwarted him easily.
BEST RUN EVER.
I finally did it, I finally got a run where I got to mom.
Of course I didn't beat her but it felt good to finally get there.
Also I'm pretty sure my new favorite item is those x-ray glasses. You find so much useful shit with them.

Aw hell yeah, I finally beat Mom, although it feels like a bit of a hollow victory.
When I got into the shop of the last dungeon the bible was up for sale and I had tonnes of coins.

Wow, FML. I had a Bum friend with me, just beat Greed who dropped a shitton of coins, I let him do his business, than he drops a Tick (one of my favorite trinkets except for the unswitchable bug), but just to spite me he drops Cancer right next to me. First world problems.

My mate saw me get the Dove, made a joke about it's appearance.
