mom's contact is a brilliant item especially against bosses. If you find it before the krampus fight and have enough tears up it will be easy peasy.
book of belial makes devil rooms appear more often right? So maybe you should always play as Judas (if you're not already).

moms contact + any rate of fire modifier = murder everything
moms contact + moms knife
the game is a joke
Moms contact is one of the worst items in the game at the moment , simply because it can bug Satan, and make him unbeatable.
I still haven't found radioactive spider after all this time, so don't be afraid, you're not the only one who will play WotL without having golden god yet.
It only appears in hidden rooms.
Same goes for 1-up and Raw Liver. Bob's Rotten Head and Unicorn Horn show up there too. Along with 3-coins, 6-coins, 9-coins, Greed, and Slot Machine.
You can understand how it's a difficult thing to come across. It's weird considering how early in the game you unlock it, just for clearing the Basement. But considering how powerful it is, it's perfectly understandable why it's so uncommon.

That should be getting a fix with the patch tomorrow.
And if a bug against 1 enemy is the only thing that makes an item bad, it's not bad.

When it makes the game unbeatable, it's pretty bad. Had it happen to me twice, once as ??? even.
When it makes the game unbeatable, it's pretty bad. Had it happen to me twice, once as ??? even.
That's "bad" in the sense of "oh shit, this thing is bugged." It doesn't matter if the bug is a slight inconvenience or just flat-out makes the game unbeatable; it's a bug, bugs shouldn't be factored into the usefulness of items unless they are intentionally left in.
When "bad" is used to describe items, it's commonplace to be a rank of its usefulness. Mom's Contact is useful, therefore it is not bad.
Besides, once you've unlocked all of the Satan items, there's nothing to gain from grabbing the treasure chest at the end of the Satan fight. There's no stat that keeps count of Satan kills and there's no item unlocked for clearing it without taking damage or whatever. You can just pause and exit to main menu so you don't affect your deaths stat, it's not some debilitating circumstance.

play judas
dont take dmg on basement levels
bomb EVERY BEGGAR since giving them even one cent decreases your chances to get to the devil
I found and beat Krampus on my first try when the update came out, I assumed he's common so everyone can get the christmas lottery achievement easily, after that I've only seen him maybe twice. I got Recettear from that achievement :v:
there's still so long for the DLC to unlock :saddowns:

I wouldn't wager on it, most if not all purchasable Steam game content releases are at 10 PDT.
I just listened to the new soundtracks availible. I belive there's 5 new ones and there are three on Youtube I could find right now.
My favourite is The Cellar.
Spoilers, obviously. if you want to listen:

Just a couple tips for your Dark Boy run:
Don't bother entering the Devil Room in Depths 1 if it does appear. Trading hearts invalidates no-damage runs and you're better off not risking an encounter with Krampus. If you get the opportunity, get as many Devil Items as possible before Depths 1, it's not like your remaining health will matter when you're trying to take 0 damage.
As far as active items go, you want to have something in store that can keep you safe in case you run into a room that offers very little escape from enemies. Necronomicon, Book of Shadows, Unicorn Horn, Gamekid, Mom's Bra, Mom's Pad
For passive items, you're going to want a flight item, level 1 or 2 cube of meat/halo of flies/guardian angel/pretty fly, moderate speed, and some beefy damage output (brimstone is optimal because Fetus in a Jar and Mom's Knife place you at risk). If you can't get decent damage output, try to get some tear effects to help you take enemies down from safety like Mom's Contact, Radioactive Spider, Piercing tears (works wonders against multi-part enemies and Knights), Ouija Board, and a decent fire rate.
If possible, avoid the shop and hidden room just in case you bump into Greed. If you're lucky enough to get Compass, Treasure Map, or Emperor tarot card, consider it a blessing, you're going to want to get to the boss and quick.
If you happen to find a Forget Me Now, you can use it to reset a floor if you happen to fuck up. It resets the "no-damage" for that floor along with the floor layout. The only downside is that you lose your active item, so use it only if you have a good build and want a chance to redeem yourself, otherwise you're goign to be fighting an uphill battle (which you might find fun, it's up to you).
Good luck getting it before the expansion comes out. Once you purchase the expansion, you'll have the alternate Depths to deal with that have their own enemies and bosses. You might want to hold off on buying the expansion if you're hellbent on getting 100% beforehand. It'll take time to learn the new enemy AI and boss patterns as well as the new item effects.

Good tips. The Emperor card is possibly the most useful in my opinion. It helped me earn A lot of the no damage achievements.

:words:
Ooh, that's a lot of advice, thank you very much.
I did have a general idea of the items, avoid devil rooms shops and secret rooms, but I was skeptical about if Forget Me Now works. Also, I really don't care if I get it after the expansion comes out, I can try again some later time. I'm just so hyped up for it, I don't know if I'll be able to wait for it to be released. Still, there's nothing stopping me from doing it tonight/early tomorrow, so I'll just keep at it.
For regular runs, I'd rank the Judgement and Temperance cards as more useful. I rarely ever use Emperor cards because I have no issue plowing through the floor to find the boss. Same goes for the World, I only really use it if I want to know where the hidden room is so I can conserve bombs.
Judgement because I can get an item out of him. If coupled with the D6, you can get some items when you're not supposed to -- spawn a beggar in a room with a Cube of Meat and reroll both items for 2 Cubes of Meat -- Spawn a beggar in a Devil Room for a Devil Item once you reroll it.
Temperance is useful because you can get a lot of money out of it, plus a speed + health up that heals 4 heart containers. If you spawn a Blood Donation Machine next to the one in the Arcade or anywhere else that you can find one, you can use the invulnerability flash that Isaac gets when he gets hurt to fish a free use out of the other one. If you do it right, you can easily farm a ton of money and 2 health + speed ups out of it.
Fool is only useful on Depths 2 to escape the Mom boss room after she's dead. I usually use this so I can use the hearts she drops in a BDM. If you played good on that floor, a Devil Room will be waiting when you return to her room; this usually is hidden because the doors are gone.
Death/Strength/Empress are decent for churning out more damage.
Death is good for fragging a bunch of enemies when you need a quick bunch of kills to save your skin, or to deal heavy damage to multi-target enemies (it takes Mom's 5 parts down to about 30% health).
The Sun is probably the best all-around card since it functions as Death + The World + Full Health. I only really use it for the same purposes that I use Death, but I sometimes use it if I want to push my luck at a BDM and then get back up to full so I can go again v:v:v
I spend a lot of time in the arcade getting myself down to half a heart. I'm rolling in cash on practically every single run, and I operate almost exclusively on spirit hearts. ??? runs are different because I can't use those red hearts at all, he's a completely different playstyle for me -- More bruteforce, less money.

I can't remember ever seeing those enemies in that layout. It must be pretty rare. That's so harsh :v:

As much as that sucks, power-housing your way through those scenarios and managing to leave unscathed is SO SATISFYING.

One of the most annoying thing about zombies is how moms knife decides just sometimes to kill them head on.

I wouldn't know the feeling because I still can't get through the caves undamaged

Try the same strategies that I listed earlier for the Depths.
The worst room you'll find there are the ones with narrow walkways, the rest of the room filled with holes, and your enemies being those Chargers. If you can get through those, you'll be golden. Apparently you can have Knights on rooms like that, but that must be incredibly rare; not even I've seen that before.

If the normal steam release time is to mean anything, we've got about 12.5 hours remaining.
But that's not to say that the release time is set in stone.

I've gotten through those rooms before. I always fuck up in one second sometime through the run, for a split second whether it be at the start or nearing the end of the levels. It's grating.
