The Isaac fight makes me want to kill myself.
Is there some kind of trick that makes dodging his million bullet funtime fuckfest easier?

Remember the pattern.
I always found Satan much harder than [sp]Isaac[/sp], actually.

What is the difference between 'fire rate up' and tears up?
What is the difference between 'fire rate up' and tears up?
They're the same.
Also, finally beat Satan for the first time. Playing as Cain and after clearing out a floor I got teleported to the error room by a red chest. The room was full of tears up pills and health ups and a liberty cap, plus a telepill so I teleported back out to finish the floor. After that pretty much all my drops set me up. Sacred Heart, Pyro, 3 Dollar Bill and more I can't remember.
What is the difference between 'fire rate up' and tears up?
I think tears up is a more vague way to say that your tears have gotten better [sp]or worse, like broken mirror[/sp] in some way. Like Max's head. Instead of just damage up, you also get bigger tears with better knockback.
Are there more games like this?
Are there more games like this?
What do you mean by "like this"? If you mean difficult, action-oriented, procedurally-generated games, Spelunky is a good one to check out.
This game made me like rougelikes even though it is infuriating.
This is like the only game I like that is extremely infuriating.

I find it strange that I actually enjoy infuriating games. I am a big fan of this, Super Meat Boy, Dota 2 (situational), Dark Souls, etc.
Just being placed in a difficult task makes me want to push through it, and once I do, the feeling is so nice.
Actually, this is the best of its genre. I wish i had the DLC though.
For those of you not lurking Edmunds formspring, the boxed set of binding of isaac is now on sale for the USA. Only 12 copies left though. http://www.etsy.com/listing/101195162/signed-binding-of-isaac-unholy-edition
the artbook won't have any wrath of the lamb stuff on it. This box set pre-dates that.

Go mow a lawn or something, it's dirt cheap.

I hope by "it's genre" you don't mean roguelikes in general.

What does roguelike means?
What does roguelike means?
Level randomization, perma death, and turn based movement. With dungeon crawling.
Thanks wikipedia.
It appears that tears up never seems to have any effect when I play

Recently, the term roguelike has expanded to include non-turn-based games.
"Recently". Roguelike is the loosest defined genre there is, probably. So I'd never say that any one of them is the "best in the genre".
It appears that tears up never seems to have any effect when I play
Some Tears-Up items actually are Damage ups.
might be a glitch on Edmunds part.

No, recently people have forgotten what "roguelike" means and applied it to games that aren't roguelikes. BUT WHATEVER.

I prefer a game like this to a game like meat boy. When I keep losing in a game like this, it makes me think I need to re-consider my strategy. When I keep losing in a game like meat boy, I need to keep doing the exact same thing I've been trying to do over and over until I push the buttons in the exact right way that makes me not die.
I like it better when I can try something new and get different results, not when I know exactly which route to take (and generally there's only 1-2), but I can't do it because I need inhuman reflexes and reaction time. When I finally beat a hard level in meat boy, it feels like a fluke. Like if I played it a second time, I'd still die a million times before getting it, despite knowing exactly how to win.

oh wow. I was only trying to unlock the D6 but I cleared the Cathedral. :v:
Skipped the Mom and It Lives bosses though.
Y'know, i've had this idea in my head for a while; it keeps on popping up. It's for what I can only describe as a co-operative platforming game in which Isaac and Meat Boy team up in Hell, with one player as the agile speedster Meat Boy and the other playing as the ranged powerhouse Isaac. Meat Boy's gameplay would remain mostly unchanged, with the exception of having some kind of melee attack like punching or goomba-stomping, whilst Isaac's handling would change to more of a 2D platforming vibe like Mega Man or Contra, whilst still retaining a sense of strategy with weighty shots and spacebar items.
Many elements of both BoI and SMB would remain, like special rooms, boss fights, warp zones, items, speedrunning, etc, but some things would be a little different. Dungeon layouts, for instance, wouldn't be like old-school Zelda like in Binding of Isaac, since there's the vertical element involved, but instead they'd be laid out kinda like Metroid or Symphony of the Night, albiet with large rooms and smaller overall dungeons, though bombs and keys would still have their uses for opening doors/chests and blowing up rocks/back-walls. Dungeons would always end with a boss and an item drop, as well as a link back to the overworld, which is essentially the surface of whatever part of Hell that Isaac and Meat Boy are in.
Concerning story besides just "Isaac and Meat Boy in Hell", i'm thinking there'd be two sides to the story. Isaac's story would start out when he blows up a cracked wall and discovers that the Basement was in fact his eternal prison in Hell; he'd died long ago when his mother murdered him. Since then he was consigned to an endless succession of deaths and "rebirths", being forced to repeat the same drama for all eternity, whilst having no memory of previous runs. Long story short, he escapes the Basement and ends up in "Hell Proper". As for Meat Boy, he goes into Hell in pursuit of Bandage Girl after she's captured by the malevolent Chef, essentially the cook from the Super Meat Boy launch trailer only more evil. But whilst Meat Boy seeks to go deeper in search of his girlfriend, Isaac wants to get out of Hell, though he can't do so on his own. Because of this, his companionship with Meat Boy is strained due to conflicting interests, even though the journey will lead them back to the surface eventually, but regardless he sticks with Meat Boy because "only a pure soul can open the Gates of Hell", and Isaac's soul is not pure, either by apparent sin or misjudgement, whilst Bandage Girl apparently is (God musta been busy playing The Sims Social when Bandage Girl "aborted" Dr Fetus until he was thin paste).
Later in the story,[sp]it's revealed that Fetus Jr is within Bandage Girl, as revealed in the True Ending (Dark World) of Super Meat Boy, and was marked as a vessel for the rebirth of the Devil. As the result of an earlier coup, the Devil's spirit was locked up in a secret corner of Hell, but was recently freed, and needs a vessel to be reborn in; Fetus Jr being marked as the best option.[/sp][sp]Once Isaac and Meat Boy reach the deepest level and defeat the Chef, Meat Boy is reunited with Bandage Girl, only for a sickening twist of fate to occur; it is revealed that the Devil's prison was Isaac's prison as well, and Isaac's escape was the Devil's escape, with the Devil hiding within Isaac for all that time, only appearing when Isaac reached Sheol or killed his "good self" in the Cathedral. Now close to Bandage Girl, the Devil's twisted spirit leaves Isaac's body and heads towards Fetus Jr. What happens next depends on the nature of the upgrades that the characters took.[/sp]
[sp]If they claimed mostly demonic items, the Devil's twisted spirit possesses Fetus Jr, who devours Bandage Girl from the inside-out (belching out her flower as a final fuck you), before his form shifts into that of the Devil. The Devil sarcastically thanks Isaac before he and Meat Boy are cast into a truly horrible corner of Hell, where they're pitted against one-another as enemies for the rest of time, having no knowledge of their previous companionship, only a dark brooding hatred for one-another.[/sp]
[sp]If they claimed mostly "meat" items, the same thing happens, only for Fetus Jr/the Devil to transform into the Devil Fetus, which is weakened by the amount of mortal power within Isaac, and thus is merely a difficult boss fight. After defeating the Devil Fetus, they seal the Devil away in a dark prison akin to Sheol, and resign to their fate as eternal wardens of His cell, with both Isaac upset at not being able to leave Hell, and Meat Boy distraught at the loss of Bandage Girl.[/sp]
[sp]If they claimed mostly angelic items, the Devil tries to enter Fetus Jr, but in a twist of fate a golden chain yanks it back; the chain is connected to Isaac, his soul filled with the power of Heaven. He urges Meat Boy and Bandage Girl to go to the Gates without him, for even though his soul is now pure, he cannot return to the world of the living, for doing so would bring the Devil with him (which is bad mmmkay). As the others leave him behind, he resigns himself to his fate of being eternally bound to the Devil in Hell, feeling sorrow for having to stay there, and hope that the Devil may never escape as he did before. A brief scene after the credits shows a slight smirk on his face, and the chain's golden glow starts to flicker; as Isaac looks at the chain with a worried expression, he fears his pride at besting the Devil might be counter-intuitive to his duty.[/sp]
[sp]Even though all the endings might seem like you can't get a happy ending, it kinda stays in tune with the theme that Isaac may never get a happy ending, which carries over from the original Binding of Isaac, plus the angelic ending is still kind of happy; Meat Boy and Bandage Girl are together again, thanks to Isaac's newfound purity, even though Isaac himself can't go with them.[/sp]
And that's "Isaac And Meat Boy Go To Hell" in a coconut (bigger than the average nutshell at any rate, but still a nutshell nonetheless). Not sure about the working title, but it's just an idea anyway. Even though a MetroidVania-style adventure is definitely a deviation from both games, i'm hoping there's still enough of both the originals in the concept (dungeon-delving, randomization, agile speedy platforming, rewards for speedrunning, brutal difficulty, etc) for enough of the feel and aesthetic of both to be present and still be an appealing experience. Still, it's not like it's ever going to happen, even if it does seem kinda cool. Tell me what you think, even if it seems like a terrible idea. Any feedback is good feedback for an idea.
Dafuq. I brought the polaroid to [sp]Isaac[/sp] and nothing fancy happened. I battled with regular [sp]Isaac[/sp], not [sp]???[/sp] or [sp]Tri-acnid[/sp]
Why?
The title screen also changed from golden god to 'the end'
I'm confused
Crushing defeat by [sp]Isaac[/sp] with only a sliver of health left, doing The Purist, my only Challenge left. What good is high fire rate without any damage upgrades... This was right after I lost a run by picking up Brimstone because that shit is broken. Fuck. Still, I love this game.

I'm pretty sure after that is when you fight [sp]???[/sp]. Try getting to the end again.
Anyone else had the problem of Brimstone not firing? The only other items I've picked up are Dinner, Cube of Meat and Odd Mushroom (large).
Edit: Never mind. Just read it's broken for everyone.

That's how language changes. People 'forget' in the sense that, rather than using it to denote it has many of the the features Rogue, it has the most recognisable to the majority: permadeath/cell based maps.
