Not if you download the patches, unless it's because of the hardware, it just doesn't work well with a lot of configurations (even if they are well above the recomended requirements), and there is very little to do about it sadly.
On 64 bit systems this game is absolutely awful.
You come to the end of a level and you're sent back to the desktop or something. I gave up on it.

You say that as if it affects all computers with 64-bit OS's.
Anyways, this game was alright. I definitely wouldn't buy it, so I was and am glad that I got it for free during that one... thing.

I have Vista 64-bit and it never crashed on me before.
I bought it a looooong time ago, and I still play it every now and then.
I hate the spiders. :( whenever I play, I tell myself i won't cheat but as soon as i see one of those spiders, BAM godmode.
I like the old Might and Magic games better.
I liked Oblivion and Mount & Blade better.

Oblivion: DM has a superior combat system compared to Oblivion. *Shing shing you're dead lawl.*
Mount & Blade: It's not even a FPS/RPG.

Same thing could be said about DM.
Lets not forget the random sexual comments every 5 minutes about every damn thing. Jesus Christ.

It's a [sp]succubus[/sp] what did you expect? At least they followed the lore and didn't restrain stuff.
I would have been able to finish this game if it weren't for it always crashing at that city of necromancers or whatever
this has to have been the eightieth "megathread"
I thought it was a great game, i just wish it was freeroam, and i liked that cutscene with that uhhmmm thing... where you could see her boobs and stuff. :D
Combat was awesome, shame about the rest.
Also, how do I extract the models?
Totally underrated game. Amazing melee system, detailed environments, interesting gameplay and so on.
Multiplayer could be better though and the environment more explorable.

Agreed with everything, and the multiplayer turned out like this because it was developed by a different developer (and at the time connections weren't fast enough to handle all animations and stuff), and the enviroments are the best I have ever seen, they fit the game perfectly.
Also, Arkane is working on another game with combat that looks even better, The Crossing.
And I don't know why, but when it's about Dark Messiah I go out of control and write really long posts if I don't notice how much I have written.
Is there a way to mount it's game cache file into gmod10?
No way in hell I'm extracting all of those manually

The title doesn't say Megathread
I really bloody want to like this game, but it always crashes. (and with crashes I mean the computer suddenly turning off for no fucking reason, no lag or anything unusual at all and then after 2 seconds booting up again)
real frustrating... and I don't believe this is vistas fault.
Hell my PC can handle the most hardware intensive games with no lag, so why does this game (from 2006!!) make my PC crash to restart?
And why on earth is windowed mode disabled??
I like playing my games in windowed mode. Every game should be able to be in windowed mode.
I really liked the game kept me busy for a while :D

Man, no one had complained for this problem...maybe Vista is responsible. Why don't you try XP?

Nah, Vista isn't responsible, I use Vista and it never crashed on me once.
I thought it was real fun for a while. I've played the Singleplayer campaign maybe 3 times, but it gets boring quickly.
I finished it too a while ago. My only complaint was the level design in some places. At one the point the level ENDS in some black smith in the weirdest place ever, and you have to guess to backtrack 2 loading screens for an elevator that I didn't even see the first time. Other than that it was an ok game. Did find the endings rather lame..

But the game is more than worthy 18 megathreads...

Yea, I got stuck at that elevator crap too.
Until I wandered onto a walkthrough for DM
This game would be much better if it was non-linear
I just wish there was an SDK, making maps for this game would be really fun. Do some fantastic Indiana Jones remakes!
Although After playing the demo I expected the game to be able treasure hunting across many different dungeons and castles, that would have made it a better game in my opinion.

^Oblivion^ :downs:

Oblivion didn't have the awesome combat system and superb full body awareness that DM did. Be quiet.
