Oblivion didn't have the awesome combat system and superb full body awareness that DM did. Be quiet.
When did I say Oblivion had the awesome combat system and superb full body awareness that DM had?
I just spend my time in an empty courtyard spawning enemies with my binded commands and having epic fights between hobgoblins and humans and an odd cyclops or two. SP and MP can go fuck themselves, there's bloodshed to be had!

Kind of like Oblivion's open roaming, but DM's full body awareness and combat system. Just think how awesome exploring dungeons would be.
I loved the game. It was too short though
I wished you could walked around the castle, like in oblivion, and buy stuff from shops...
they should reary make another one but whit less spiders and moar things to do (sidequests, difrent routes, some free areas to visit) and multiplayer that wont be so dominated by the assasins...
Well, I loved the original, just finished playing through it again last week. Only thing that I think was overdone was the constant sexual innuendos of Xana. Also I find it hard to believe that Leanna would fall in love with you or something after meeting you like hours ago. I never took it too seriously, so it didn't bother me too much, but if a sequel were to be made, hopefully they to make the storyline a bit less like a nerdy fanfic. I still think this game has really got the melee combat gameplay down though, best of any game I've played, I found Oblivion's melee to feel really shitty and unsatisfying. The only other game that comes to mind that might compare to this in terms of the feel of the combat is probably Mount and Blade, but even that suffers due to the less than inspiring animations.
I have problems with this game on Win 7 x64. It starts out fine but after a minute or two, it'll start slowing down until it's a slideshow.
This game is great but it's so horribly buggy and when I exit, explorer crashes
I wish SOurce recorder worked with this game, it crashes for me. Great game though, fucking spiders :argh:
I hated the part where you had to climb out of the spider crypt using the rope bow.
Sums up everything.
That game had some nasty spiders.
I hated the part where you had to climb out of the spider crypt using the rope bow.
i'd cheat and use noclip :ohdear:
Awesome game, every game should let you kick people. Also top bug tip: When that master guy is talking in the mist at the start of the game, pressing the kick button will actually kick him despite you not being able to move or anything.
For those that don't know: Arkane (the developers) are working on The Crossing, which will most probably have an even more awesome fighting system. Right now though it's on hold in search of a publisher, but they said they aren't sitting on their thumbs. They helped working on Bioshock 2, so now "not sitting on their thumbs" means either working on Arx Fatalis 2 or Dark Messiah 2 (I doubt they would develop a new IP when they are already making The Crossing).

The amount of possibilities you could kill an enemy is what made it fun, in some other games it's just shoot this with this weapon.
It's that kind of a game, which is extremely fun and also extremely B-Grade. Just like the cheesy action movies from the 80's. The combat is very enjoyable, voice acting is a comedy. The story, the characters.. they're definitely not deep. Almost looks like the game doesn't take itself seriously, you get the impression that the story is just a parody. Not saying it's a bad thing. I'm telling you - the game is FUN. I don't really get why people hate the MP, I always loved playing crusade while it was still populated. What I didn't like? I would say the last few levels. The environment just looked dull and boring. I was often confused and didn't know where to go. The first half of the game was much better.
Interview with Arkane: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/4212/from_new_to_arkane_ten_years_of_.php It's not much about their games, it's a lot about the gaming industry. With some really interesting parts like:
But depth is often invisible to publishers. "They don't care about that," says Colantonio. "They like quantifiable things like how many monsters you have. How many levels, how many weapons. They want to know if the graphics are better than other games. Do you have physics? All these kinds of things. They don't ask whether you have emotions of moral choices in the game. They are not qualities that are recognized as selling points."
And, most importantly:
"But that's not the case now. Again, we cannot talk about it. We can't say who it is. But it's a great publisher and I am in contact with the direct decision-makers. If you can talk to the people who directly make the decision, then you can understand the way they think. Everything goes smoother, faster."
So, who could be this publisher who actually is interested in the depth of the game? There aren't many, and it sure as fuck ain't Activision.
I wish the fighting system in this game could have been transferred to Oblivion.
A game that was ridiculously more fun than it should have been. Buggy, short, torturous on precessors but wildly amusing when the physics freak out and you send a guy flying with only a long sword and a jump.
It's a [sp]succubus[/sp] what did you expect? At least they followed the lore and didn't restrain stuff.
I loved the comments.
So did I. I played it on the PC at a friend, then bought it for the Xbox. Xbox version is so much better.
Brilliantly fun game but it just felt unfinished; all those small axes and hammers you can pick up, the smelting system, the inventory, it was a good game but it could have been great.
I wants me a Sequel. And this time remove the fucking spiders and those floating tentacled things. "Sweet dragons blood! What's that!" And more of that voice acting.
Most intuitive first person melee combat in any game, I love it. also,
I loved the comments.
"Niece? Pupil? Hmm..." Damn Xana reading my mind... [editline]06:47PM[/editline]
I wants me a Sequel. And more of that voice acting.
As much as I hated the spiders, they were memorable and should stay in, just don't have them for 80% of the game. Also I hated it when you were walking down a tunnel, hear something behind you, you turn around and there is a huge spider with it's fangs bared jumping at you.
Multiplayer is fun too. It's a shame it's quite dead. Fuck those sticky-fireball mages though.
I loved this game, never had any bugs except when NPC's would get stuck sometimes. I didnt mind it when my FPS was low, I REALLY want a sequel..
