Also who and what is the goddamn songbird? They pretty much teased the whole game with it beforehand and now there is next to no info about him in the game at all besides the few sentences from Ellisabeth.
Just before Fink's office there is a whole room dedicated to him that givesa lot of hints towards his creation.
I like BSI but compared to BS 1 I feel like BS1 has more of a message to tell while BS:I is more of an interesting story.
BS 1 is more of a social critique while BS: I is more of a philosophical thing.
What I dislike about BS : I (I've said it before) is that the story is so disconnected to the concepts of the world it plays in.
The very same story could've happened in Rapture, Burkina Faso or a communist space station where mad scientists try to make races communist too by forcefully interbreeding humans. The Republican wet dream on LSD that is Columbia is a nice world, but Rapture was more elegant.
I think it's because if you took Columbia out of the air it'd just be any old town, albeit with crazy super Republicans. Rapture has that dingy, mysterious, creepy vibe to it. I wanted to learn more about Rapture, I just ran through Columbia.
[sp]Doesn't the memory fusing only happen if they died in another dimension that is being affected by the Looping which they are now affect themselves[/sp]
[sp]Problem is that it seems to be one-directional and different each time. Look what happened to the smith after the first jump. He doesn't remember being dead, he remembers his machines. It's just not consistent in its effects[/sp]

I found Columbia far more interesting than I did Rapture.
Did they ever explain what the fuck the Songbird is? Wiki is telling me that it's pretty much a lazy Big Daddy parallel that is tossed into the story when things needed spicing up.
[sp]Songbird is the Big-Daddy inspired (Fink saw them through tears), gaurdian created for Elizabeth to make sure she stays in the "Monument"[/sp]
[sp]At some point in the game after the first Lady Comstock fight I really thought it was her mother because the ghost had wings. That'd actually be the better plot and a really nice hyperbole towards Big-Daddies if you ask me.[/sp]

[sp]It's very simple, Comstock needed a guardian for Elizabeth, so Fink saw some Big-Daddies or something through a tear, which inspired him to make the Songbird, which at first was Elizabeth's friend, but as she became older it was more of her "warden".[/sp]

That's parly due to the heros I think. Booker wants to find Ellisabeth and as the stupid gambling issues he is he doesn't take into account that knowing more about the world you're supposed to kidnap a girl in might be a good thing. In all of Columbia and especially in the Booth museum and with the [sp] Order of the Crow[/sp] he pretty much shruggs off all of the crazy and inhuman ideologies with some oneliner.
Remember the beginning where he meets the batshit religios people praying to Ben Franklin: "Just cuz your city flies doesn't mean it can't have crazy people" or something like that.
Meanwhile the BS 1 dude just got into it because he had no other place to go. And because he had no choice.
I think that reflects. The crazyness of the super-republica that is Columbia makes up for a nice
backdrop but doesn't have any meaning at all for Booker.

[sp]It's obvious it's big daddy inspired considering he also made vigors which were clearly inspired by plasmids[/sp]

[sp]Yeah and that's explained in what, 1 room from Fink and a few sentences. The Big Daddies are ACTUAL PEOPLE who were prisoners and were told that they could change back! What is the Songbird? A robot? Some lab creature? Something from a tear?
It could've been so beautifully tragic. But we know almost nothing. I felt kinda offended when she just kills it by porting to Rapture without any explaination.
I hope it gets DLC.[/sp]

You would think Comstock would find a use for that found technology beyond creating that singular creature, which only happens to pop up when the story calls for something shocking to happen. A bit more background on this creature would have been greatly appreciated. And regarding the vigors, why doesn't the game ever explain its role in Columbia beyond the fact that they exist and that very specific enemy types use them? Unlike with BS1, in which plasmids are an essential part of the world and actually play a role in Rapture's downfall, Vigors aren't really discussed at all in Infinite, which is strange since there are salt and vigor vendors everywhere for the stuff. Who is using them and why?[/sp]

[sp]Same thing with the vigors and salts. Bioshock wouldn't shut up about the ADAM and EVE and pladmids and such, but Infinite doesn't seem to care[/sp]
[sp]Or the Songbird lingering around in the shadows just like the Gman, it's shadow falling through windows. Iminent danger. Not only from above but also from below since we are in a fucking flying city.
Right now it's a simple plot and marketing device. Sad.
Speaking of that, Columbia flying has almost no influence on the gameplay at all.
The vigors are essentially explained in the faire and the factory. They're quite new, only a few weeks old and Fink is pushing them so thats why there's salt everywhere and the ones who use them excessively go insane just like the Rapture dudes did.[/sp]
one thing i miss about the old Bioshock is the inventiveness of the gunplay
you remember taking down big daddies with the electric trap guns?
or my favourite, the acetylene gas bottle with 6 sticky grenades on it?
the core gunplay in BS3 suffers compared to BS1/2
i also thought that BS2 gunplay is better than BS1 but that gets lost in the much weaker story
but saying that, this is GOTY even with GTA5 due soon, there's no way GTA5's tired formula will to win over Levine's best work so far
I mean the skyrails, besides going slightly under some building sometimes, could be in 1912 Chicago and there would be no difference in their usage at all apart from the time it takes to fall to your death.
Again, the city makes for a nice and incredibly well-done backdrop, but nothing more.
quite frankly infinite is the best god damn story-driven fps i've played in a long time, but that's just me
Also I plan on playing the original Bioshock soon, along with 2, anything I should know about it before?
Also I plan on playing the original Bioshock soon, along with 2, anything I should know about it before?
Take it slow and be sure to listen to all the audiotapes you can. A lot of the fun is in getting immersed.

[sp] I hope so too, Songbird felt really underdeveloped. He was one of the cases where the game felt rushed to me, like there was supposed to be a lot more to it but it got cut. I thought we'd actually fight it a few times and your relationship with Elizabeth would shift depending on whether you were driving it off or trying to kill it in the end. I was really disappointed with the overall lack of choice in the game, though. [/sp]

There is sneaking and it's very rewarding, make sure to explore.
There is sneaking and it's very rewarding, make sure to explore.
The exploration is my favorite part, I love how almost every nook and cranny has hidden items, tonics, etc. It appeals to my inner Doom player. :v: I've moved onto playing Bioshock 2 now, then I'll do a 1999 run of Infinite to wrap things up.

Gotcha, any mods I should grab?
OH, where can I get Minvera's Den for Bioshock 2 aswell?

I linked two on page 11, Bioshock Reborn and Silver's mod. Reborn doesn't have all the features it lists since the modder wasn't able to add them, but it still changes loot lists and such. Silver's mod is similar, so you can just go with whichever sounds better. Minerva's Den is 400 microsoft points on GFWL unfortunately. I picked it up yesterday since I had some points I wasn't using, I've heard it's good. You can also get the challenge trials for free off there, which is a few arena SP maps for you to fight off splicers I think.

Son of a bitch, how much is "400 microsoft points", then?
So does [sp] William. R. Foreman kill himself or was he pushed? Intriguing[/sp]

Also this scared the shit out of me Maybe spoilery

[sp]I think he may have killed himself... Although that doesn't really explain how they recovered the footage or why they put it in a mental ward.[/sp]
Made a bit more progress on my project. The camera doesn't quite capture it right (nor was it printed at the proper scale to match the illusion), but I finally got it to work with a minimal of distortion on the image.

Now to decide if I want to use the Bird/Cage motif, or if I want to do a vector of Elizabeth for one side and one of Booker for the other. Any input on that regard?
Either Bird/cage, or Robert/Rosalind.

I'm thinking an Elizabeth/Booker one, to be more unique.

Look closely at the projection
