Personally, I think Infinite serves as a damn good example of how you SHOULD do the story and characters in a Triple-A shooter, or hell any type of game.
So I'm thinking of doing 1999 mode for my third playthrough. What weapons and vigors do you guys recommend sticking with and upgrading?
Hah this is pretty cool.
The lighthouse guard had a open book on his bed. Despite the really damn small text I could see that it said St John (John the Apostle), which makes me think the devs deliberately placed hires textures on it. I looked up his stuff in the Bible and I see that the Book of Revelations are usually attributed to him.
And what is it about in short?
Well in ultra-condensed mode, it seems to be about a certain God finally "beating" the devil and throwing him into a "sea of sulfur" (translated from Swedish). Then a heavenly kingdom is created for the people that follows God. "The water of life, clear as crystal" shall flow from the throne of God and the lamb (Jesus). It's implied that it is the lamb that removes the devil from Earth.
It is also here we learn of the number 666 or 616 that marks the devil, who is interpreted to could take the form of a human. A false prophet is also mentioned.
And then in chapters 21-22 they talk about new heavens and a new Earth. Why? Well because after the end of times, the current heavens and the current Earth will be "erased" and replaced by the new one.
Perhaps this was obvious to people that know their Bible and finished the game. But I think these are some pretty neat links.
I love Elizabeth voice in the spanish translation, it's amazing.
There's something that's been bugging me for a while now, though I'm sure it's been asked before and it has no real bearing on the actual plot, I'm still confused as to how [sp]Booker and Elizabeth washed up on Battleship Bay after Songbird tore up the monument and Booker and Elizabeth dropped off of the skyline into the "ocean". There's no debris around when Booker gets up, looking towards the water shows that they shouldn't have washed ashore in the first place, and most of all, none of the civilians realize that the monument has been partially destroyed until after you choose a brooch for Elizabeth. Someone even says "Where was Songbird when this happened?". You'd think people would notice Songbird having a fit and ripping apart one of the most iconic landmarks in Columbia, as well as everything around it. Even if the Lutece twins made them hop to another universe, the statue is still destroyed beforehand, why did nobody notice this until at least an hour after it happened?[/sp]
Also, I feel like I'm missing something about the opening of the game when you ring the three bells as some kind of signal. Why is the response [sp]a really loud foghorn repeating the signal, along with the clouds lighting up in tune with the signal? I don't really see what the Lutece's need that for, but I am probably just being daft and missing something that explains it.[/sp]
Again, these both have no bearing on the overall plot, and are probably stupid questions, but I figured I'd ask, as they've been bugging me since I started my 1999 playthrough.

[sp]i assumed that the lighthouse and Columbia were communicating with some sort of machine language to make sure that Columbia's rocket chair dock was ready to take a new visitor[/sp]

To answer your first question [sp]The clouds blocked everyone's vision to the statue, once you get up on boardwalk you see the clouds clearing away and that's when everyone takes notice. For washing up on sure I figure it could've been a tear or a plot hole (as far as I'm concerned that is probably a thing they over looked, not a big deal)
2. The foghorn was most likely signalling columbia that a new pilgrim was coming and the response was columbia giving the go ahead. Given that only after the foghorn is done does the chair appear.[/sp]
I wonder if all the people in Columbia got in like that, would seem rather expensive.

I'm assuming there would were other ways of getting up there, but after Columbia's fallout with America options would be...scarce. Only a select few would get to get up there, which fits the [sp]personal rocket shuttle plan.[/sp]

Yeah, as I said, it's no big deal. I just figured that [sp]Songbird was making enough ruckus for people to at least wonder what was wrong, and Booker wakes up like an hour or two after it happens, you'd think news of it would spread all across Columbia by then.[/sp] It's just weird, is all.

I think what threw me off here is that I thought that Booker [sp]was still in the universe in which Columbia doesn't exist up until he sits in the chair and flies through the clouds, though now that I think about it, it is pretty obvious that he gets put in a different reality when he walks into the lighthouse.[/sp] Thanks for clarifying, though.

Here's another addition to the Elizabeth's facial expression database.

I just stared at her for a minute or two to see all her idle animations because she usually just runs away as soon as you get close to her.

you cage-wearin bastard
How cute.
I cant tell if she is biting her lip or if it is a graphical error.
you cage-wearin bastard
Third time going through the game, time to mix it up a little. Besides,[sp]the cage plays a big part in the main story as the corresponding music notes make songbird an ally.[/sp]

Damn, looks to be a simple clipping mishap. I was recording while staring at her and she did the same animation again but her teeth didn't show.

Seems pretty common, went back to the game and she did it again.
So I have a theory for one of the DLC's:
[sp]Booker Dewitt, Martyr of the Vox Populi![/sp]
I mean, they left that entire section open for interpretation, right? I'm sure they wouldn't just let an entire possible plotline go to waste like that.
It's kinda annoying that kinetoscopes get their own subtitles for whatever reason, but the voxophones don't.
You can read along with the vox recordings in the gameplay menu ('O' by default)
it still would have been more convenient if voxophone recordings had subtitles so you could read as they played.
[sp]One thing that disappointed me was that in the Martyr DeWitt universe, tear-jumping DeWitt and Elizabeth never met the in-universe Elizabeth. This creates a potential of seeing two of the same entities interacting with each other and the effects on the universe due to that interaction.
But then again, the two entities might merge into one with different memories.[/sp]

Yeah, I'm thinking it'll be that and something for Songbird. I'd love it if they worked in some creepy sections somehow instead of straight up action constantly; more [sp] Asylum and crow house would be cool.[/sp]

[sp]The merging was implied when booker said he could remember leading the rebellion.[/sp]
so wait [sp] if booker could start to recall what vox booker had done, why couldn't he recall the comstock memories?[/sp]
[sp] is it because they're "different" people?[/sp]

Its because [sp]He didnt realize that he was Comstock until the end, where in the other times he recalled those "memories" he was reminded by something[/sp]
ahhh i see that makes sense actually
[sp]I wish they hadn't bothered with all that "merging" stuff, I think subjects like alternate realities and time travel are already near impossible to keep logical and consistent as it is, without throwing all this "consciousness has special quantum properties" stuff into the mix.[/sp]
[sp]What gets me is the logic of the memories between the different worlds/timelines. Sure, I can understand that Booker being brought into a timeline that he's still living as Comstock in would create new memories for him by pure circumstance. I can.. Kinda, understand the circumstances of entering another timeline where you've died, causing the memories from the dead you to flow into the present you as a 'merge' of identities somewhat. What I don't get is why someone dying in one timeline is bleeding through to another to cause tear sickness, other than by Elizabeth's tear fuckery causing it to spread.
And just as well, aside from game mechanics, why Booker doesn't suffer from tear sickness, aside from possibly bring brought into Comstock's verse counting, from himself dying at least 122 different times beforehand.[/sp]

Maybe we could see more than four [sp]Boys of Silence.[/sp]
[sp]Wait if the Elizabeth who drowns you isn't the Elizabeth from your reality and she's still alive and now in a Lutece state doesn't that completely changes her character from the 'I'll sacrifice both of us so we can live a happy life and Comstock never exists' to 'I'm willing to sacrifice you but not me to fix everything'?[/sp]
