you can still get the shield, right?
I forget where that bar is

It's in a completely separate area so yes
Does everyone else share the same opinion on the Heater that I do (that it's a worthless, terrible excuse for the Shotgun)?

You could honestly say that for every Vox weapon.
I'll be disappointed if BioShock Infinite ends up being my GOTY. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic game so far. But it's only March. I'm hoping for something as surprising as The Walking Dead was last year.
For a (fairly) complete list, check out this for games slated to come out this year. I think the only possible contenders are GTAV and Watch Dogs.

I thought Hail Fire was way better than the Founders version.
You could honestly say that for every Vox weapon.
people hate on the repeater but even with just a single damage upgrade it was doing good damage on 1999 mode
You could honestly say that for every Vox weapon.
Heh, now that I think about it...
Repeater's a weaker Machine Gun
Burstgun is a weaker Carbine
I can't tell the difference between Hailfire and Volley Gun except that you can detonate hailfire in midair but that's useless if you can aim at all...
To be fair, the Founder's Crank Gun isn't very good either.
[editline]7th April 2013[/editline]
Repeater's okay actually. In CoD terms, it's an assault rifle and the machine gun is an SMG
I think the Heater counted as using the fire vigor for that bucking bronco combo, but I'm not sure.
this game is so fucking amazing !
im halfway trough it and everything is just so awesome
lighting is GORGEUS, elizabeth is the first AI partner i ever had that isnt annoying as fuck
the way she REACTS to your environments and actions is amazing too
i...actually care about her...
TotalBiscuit's "review" of Bioshock Infinite is up, please keep in mind he's being overly critical due to all the praise the game has gotten.
Though that may be a shitty reason, I recommend you watch at least most of the video through.

Holy shit.

I'm about 13 minutes in, and he's already said things I disagree with. He discusses how you can't plan ahead for fights because you don't know what's coming up, therefore there's no strategy. But strategy isn't completely thinking ahead, it's also being able to adjust yourself to the situation at hand.
There isn't really a whole lot of planning in Infinite. Whenever I saw enemies I just moved into cover and headshotted everyone with the carbine, rinse and repeat with possession/calling in turrets for fun. Other than Handymen or that [sp] obnoxious big fight near the end [/sp] you don't really need to think that much. I think people are overstating how advanced the combat is.
It feels to me like he is just trying to prove the people wrong who say it's a perfect game by just digging for inconsequential shit. No one with half a brain would call this game perfect I mean nothing is perfect and most people are aware that Bioshock Infinite has it's faults. But actively seeking problems with the game to disprove people who are just being idiots is pointless and devalues what is actually good about the game.
It's to counter the people who are calling perfect, since there's a lot of them. Thankfully everyone here seems to have calmed down a bit, but other places are still a mess.

He's not saying there's no strategy, he's saying that you don't know what's coming up ahead so there's no way to adjust your weapons choices for the battle in front of you. You say that it's about being able to adjust yourself to the situation at hand. I agree, but limiting the player to two weapons makes it near impossible to do that.
There seem to be just as many people here that are ripping apart the game as there were people calling it perfect, not all that surprising i guess.
On the topic of strategy.
I don't think "you can't plan ahead" is much of a complaint, in most FPS you don't have any idea what's going to be through the next door unless you've played it or can see the future.

But that's what the vigors are there for. You typically always have salts, so you can use them as a way to bend the battle towards your victory.
He is right, I wouldn't take it to the same extreme he did, but the game does suffer from mechanical problems, the game portion is not the best game ever made.
However, on the other hand, after beating the game my first thought was - Wow, that is the first game I have played in a very long time where I could put my hand up and say that the writing and narrative was on the same level to some of the best books I have read. I feel that all too often the writing and narrative in games lacks a maturity of style from the people producing it, and the negative attitude to how vital story can be seeps into the quality of the games narrative. It's really hard to try and formulate these thoughts, I'm still processing everything that I just played through - but I can say with certainty that this game is a storytelling masterpiece that all other game stories are going to be compared to.
We can only hope that people start to look at Bioshock, and they see that you can have a seriously high quality writing in a game and gamers will notice, and then maybe, just maybe, a game with much higher mechanical strength will be released with the same high quality storytelling.
The more he gets into the review the more he drops that sort of (prove those people wrong attitude) it seems. From what I've watched so far I'm fairly inclined to agree with him on most points.
Welcome to Totalbiscuit, he's pessimistic and disapproving of basically anything
it's apparently why people like him
Just beat Infinite. What the fuck.
Also, on the topic of weapons, i used the Shotgun and Carbine the whole time. Seriously, 12 round carbine that i can pretty much control the fire rate on, deadly accurate and a shotgun that can take out several enemies at once. Why would i need anything else? Everything else pretty much sucked.

Not everything. Let's just say I'm glad I already had bought Torchlight 2 when I heard his opinion of it, because I found out a few great games from him, but I would have some buyers remorse in that case.

Bioshock 1 had Plasmids too, but it also gave you every weapon. Having that feature isn't an excuse to remove another one.

He fluctuates between just the right amount of cynicism and being an overly cynical asshole.
I personally agree with a lot of TB's points. I love this game, but it has a lot of flaws. The story, in my opinion, is perfect though.

I find it funny the amount of people who say "I used [Weapon A] and [Weapon B], everything else sucked."
Almost every weapon in the game was a viable option. Same thing with Vigors.

I think you can get around that a little with sneaking though. In the earlier games you could sneak around a bit to at least scope out the opposition first and get things ready (traps, correct ammo types, priority targets, etc). Infinite has a more frantic, always running feel to it, though.
