Notch decided to make it so you can craft 2 ladder pieces at a time instead of one. So it kinda balances out the added challenge of having to construct full ladders. I'm not too happy about that though. Notch is pretty much responding to people on his twitter who are complaining that he's making the game too hard.
notch Markus Persson You know how you can climb ladders with gaps? Yeah, not in 1.5. hehe
Goddamnit notch I just finished a mineshaft with alternating ladders get the fuck out of my house.
Is it out yet?
Minecraft needs more simple easy to implement, won't ruin the game type shit. Look at TF2. They added achievements and unlockables all was well. Then they dumped a fuckton of community content into the game and imbalanced it like fuck. Now it's like watching combine soldiers in drag rather than playing the game I paid for. Minecraft needs simple things. Like stacking two chests to make a cupboard, combining seeds with dirt to make grass or other such things. As for more advanced things, a water gate could be good, but it could also turn out poor.
all the snow flakes look very similar.. whatever happened to "no two snowflakes are alike" ?

I've never actually used ladders. I just build stairs out of whatever I have on hand.
all the snow flakes look very similar.. whatever happened to "no two snowflakes are alike" ?
There's not much variety to be had with 4-5 pixels.

IT IS EASY to make new combinations, easy to make more mobs, easy to make stuff that's already been made and that has a template. Mojang is focusing on adding new elements to the game that are completely new concepts. updates: dynamic natural terrain caves crafting minerals mobs shooting mobs block chemistry online play minecarts animal riding nether bioms weather ... need I go on? SURE, Mojang could add to all of those aspects with 9000+ carbon copies but things could quickly get old. New features exponentially add to the game, carbon copies only add linearly as much (if that makes sense) Having been creating games for a while, I've picked up on this concept. Mojang will add "carbon copy" content later, which will then stack behind the exponential gain of the new features... and then sex [editline]15th April 2011[/editline]
Goddamnit notch I just finished a mineshaft with alternating ladders get the fuck out of my house.
shit... this also means 1x1 vertical tunnels can't be lit with torches :/
I suddenly have a delay on my cursor that I can't remove, is this a part of the update?
Pay attention to the pattern (or lack of) in all the minecraft updates. IT IS EASY to make new combinations, easy to make more mobs, easy to make stuff that's already been made and that has a template.
Exactly. Notch wants to expand out first, not up.
Well it's not a delay, but when i stop moving the cursor the camera just keeps going for a while :argh: Fucking annoying, does anybody else have this?
Well it's not a delay, but when i stop moving the cursor the camera just keeps going for a while :argh: Fucking annoying, does anybody else have this?
Press f8 again..
I'm a gigantic idiot :downs:
No you're not.
I'm a gigantic idiot :downs:
It's okay. :h:
Rain should flood open areas that are below the sea level, and maybe have the water evaporate slowly over a few days. Also huge gates for huge walls. I don't want to enter my massive fortress with a huge wall through a tiny wooden door.
I hope they get pistons to push other pistons. That way I can have larger gates and rooms that slowly close to crush people or things.
I hope 1.5 comes out early next week rather than late. I haven't been looking so forward to an update in a while...
I hope they get pistons to push other pistons. That way I can have larger gates and rooms that slowly close to crush people or things.
it would be nice you could have them extend further than one block
will this rain cause lag? It looks like it will be. Also, will the rain always be stopping and starting so frequently? Maybe once every 2 ingame days sounds fair
will this rain cause lag? It looks like it will be. Also, will the rain always be stopping and starting so frequently? Maybe once every 2 ingame days sounds fair
It didn't cause lag in the past, so I doubt it. And I can tell you right now, it won't have a set pattern. It will always be random.
it would be nice you could have them extend further than one block
Or a piston pushing on a piston powers that piston. Elevators eh? Would need a lot of redstone though... [ = piston | = wall | | | | | | | | | |[| |[| |[| |[| |[| Good idea?
A down elevator would be easy, an up one would be the hard part.
A down elevator would be easy, an up one would be the hard part.
One piston, problem solved. Remember, they launch you up quite a bit so a 3-high space on the floor you want means you can go up a floor easily.
Looking through the source files from 1.4 some achivement files is included (but not used at all), with three achivements Those being: * Make a workbench * Chop wood And obviously: Open the fucking inventory
Will lightning be able to set wood on fire, I wonder. [editline]16th April 2011[/editline] Or possibly cause a creeper-size explosion. Fire would be annoying because there'd be no point in building wooden houses. Lightning causing explosions would be awesome.
Lightning causing explosions would be awesome.
Until it hits your base/house :/
I'm excited to make a portal test chamber using pistons for panels. Also, I'm sure that there will be plenty of server mods that allow you to control weather. This update will be awesome
