What is this, MaintenanceCraft? I don't want to have to fuel my contraptions.
This is exactly why no one uses coal powered minecarts, it's better to use regular minecarts and boosters.

I want to be able to put empty buckets on the ground like blocks and collect water in them.
This looks great, I certainly hope the rain won't be as frequent as in the video, but I am surprised how well the snow actually looks. I don't really know about the achievements system, some people will probably enjoy it, but personally I don't care about it. I would actually prefer to be without.
It's cool how the rain and snow don't appear under blocks. Now he has to make it so clouds don't clip through blocks either. I recently made a tower over the clouds, and it's a bit annoying to see clouds phase through solid stone into the inside of the tower. Also, I hope that lightning can't set wood on fire.
Java is not meant to handle this much shit, Notch. When are you going to switch to native clients and hire some coders with the millions you've made?
Java is not meant to handle this much shit, Notch. When are you going to switch to native clients and hire some coders with the millions you've made?
Never.
Never.
And your reasoning is...?
Java is not meant to handle this much shit, Notch. When are you going to switch to native clients and hire some coders with the millions you've made?
I'm pretty sure Java is capable. Have you seen Wurm online? That runs on Java too. If he were to switch from Java, that would mean more optimized gameplay and most likely better looking enviroments! Oh no we don't want that
If he were to switch from Java, that would mean more optimized gameplay and most likely better looking enviroments! Oh no we don't want that
It's too late to turn back now. (I believe I believe I believe I believe I'm falling in love.)
If he were to switch from Java, that would mean more optimized gameplay and most likely better looking enviroments! Oh no we don't want that
No we don't. We just want good old Minecraft that plays and looks just fine. Minecraft is beautiful in it's own unique way.
No we don't. We just want good old Minecraft that plays and looks just fine. Minecraft is beautiful in it's own unique way.
if you think it plays fine you are on something. If Notch hired some developers who knew what they were doing, he could optimize the fuck out of this game, where you could actually have 500 user servers without it shitting on itself or eating 16gb of ram. I'm not saying to change the textures or what it looks like but it could run a lot better.

Do you have 500 simultaneous players?

But I'm not sure if a huge game like that is what Notch is trying to do with Minecraft. Did you ever play Wurm? You know that it runs on Java and has almost 1000 people in 1 server at a time. And Notch worked on that game as well, you should give it a go. It's very similar to Minecraft.
Do you have 500 simultaneous players?
Do we need 500 simultaneous players?
Do you have 500 simultaneous players?
Is 500 simultaneous players supposed to not use 16 gb of ram?
No we don't. We just want good old Minecraft that plays and looks just fine. Minecraft is beautiful in it's own unique way.
Uhh, I don't know about you, but I'd love to have a more optimized and better graphic experience. I don't mean non-blocks or some shit, I mean higher texture resolutions.
Uhh, I don't know about you, but I'd love to have a more optimized and better graphic experience. I don't mean non-blocks or some shit, I mean higher texture resolutions.
Higher resolutions exist. (3, 4 times larger than the default textures, sometimes more.) Trust me, it RARELY looks good. If you want to see for yourself, check the texture pack megathread out.
It shouldn't no, but I'm not saying Minecraft is bad, what I am saying is it could be improved as it has unnecessary memory usage and could be more optimized to give players a better framerate.

Many mods exist for the game that prove that the game is far from being optimized. The game is still in Beta though, and Notch talked about streamlining the bug-fixing and optimization procedure. But I just don't think it should ever switch from java. Practically he would need to re-write everything from scratch. The game would also lose its cross-platform appeal that everyone loves. And even then, that would be like Valve just randomly starting to use the Cryengine. It wouldn't feel right and it just wouldn't happen.
In general the game needs more/better sounds. Like wind blazing past you when standing outside and it's raining/snowing.
I know it's late, but I really like this idea. Like with a house built on top of a tall mountain, when you aren't in a sealed room (e.g you remove a window or open a door) then the wind starts whistling in. It would just add to the effect of being up high.
I really like how the achievements also work as a tutorial.

You know what I want in this update? This petty issue to be fixed for fuck's sake. (grass sides not matching top's color scale.)
It's so unnoticeable with that texturepack. But yea, you'd think they'd fix that already?
It's so unnoticeable with that texturepack. But yea, you'd think they'd fix that already?
Tell me about it. It's been there ever since the biome update, and it seems like Notch has failed to notice it, somehow.
