How about every minecraft day it rains, the water level raises by... 1/2? So in the rare cases it rains for a week it's actually a major disturbance and actually forces the player to act some how
Higher resolutions exist. (3, 4 times larger than the default textures, sometimes more.) Trust me, it RARELY looks good. If you want to see for yourself, check the texture pack megathread out.
You still aren't getting my point, I mean to be able to run 128, 512, and even 1024 resolution textures and not affect lag.

I really hate sounding like a prick, but larger texture sizes means more work done by the computer, regardless of language or engine.
I have an idea: Seasons Each Season will last 5 Minecraft days. Winter - The first day is cloudy and lots of snow falls down, thus freezing lakes and putting a blanket of snow over everything. The trees will have no leaves. Spring - The snow would dry over the course of day one and trees will get their leaves back, only they will be a pink/white color, due to the fact that trees have blossoms in Spring. Lots of rain happens. Summer - Less clouds, occasional rain shower, green tree leaves. Basically, normal Minecraft. Fall - Tree leaves turn brown/orange and leaves fall from the trees (basically like rain that happens under the tree, but slower because they're leaves).
How about more like 10 or 15 minecraft days. Just to add scope to it.
I hope the lightning don't set the forest or buildings on fire
We're assuming the lightning hits when it's raining So it'll burn for a bit/ scorch the tree down a bit and then will fizzle out I'm fine with that also, random lava pit fires can be but out by rains :buddy:
You know what I want in this update? [img_thumb]http://i.cubeupload.com/YWZkeg.png[/img_thumb] This petty issue to be fixed for fuck's sake. (grass sides not matching top's color scale.)
How exactly do you propose he do that? You understand that the actual texture is just monochrome, and the tone you see is a color overlay. For this to work on the sides, the entire face would have to be overlaid, including the dirt. The actual grass pixels vary for each texture pack, so there's no possible way to overlay exclusively the grass. I propose a new texture be added to the array, to serve as a mask for the overlay. Only the purple will be overlaid, and this can be adjusted by the texture artist:

And the way you proposed is precisely how I would think he would do it.
With weather There should be a way to stop it from snowing/raining/doing a biome related activity. I say this because I have a very large scale city that I am making and if it was snowing in half of my city and raining in the other half I don't think it would look very realistic.
Guys this was already in alpha, does anyone know why he took it out? Me playing in back in the day:

Anyone else tired of seeing pathetic 6x6 snow biomes in the middle of a place that isn't snowy?

I'm sick of snow biomes in general, it seems like snow is all there is. Gimme more deserts.

It's not like grass textures need to be transparent anyway.
I'm sick of snow biomes in general, it seems like snow is all there is. Gimme more deserts.
I'd rather not have deserts at all.
And your reasoning is...?
Notch said so.
I'm so ready to just sit in my house and listen to the rain :buddy: I'm going to get some netherrack and make a fireplace in preparation.
I'm sick of snow biomes in general, it seems like snow is all there is. Gimme more deserts.
I have the opposite, I see deserts everywhere, and hardly any snow biomes.
When 1.5 comes I'm going to nuke my base in the world I have been using since the Hallowdicker update. What about you guys? It's old, decrepit, and almost monster free everywhere I go thanks to my torch spamming habits. And corrupted up the ass from multiple crashes since 1.4

Make it so large areas could flood if rain falls for long periods of time, and then evaporate if there's long sunny periods.
Am I the only one who thinks water level shouldn't change at all?
Make it so large areas could flood if rain falls for long periods of time, and then evaporate if there's long sunny periods.
take into account how simple MC is notch isn't that amazing of a coder, if he did that the game would probably break and water would be everywhere
Am I the only one who thinks water level shouldn't change at all?
Why not? It would be a whole new challenge. You go to sleep in your house by the sea. In the morning, the bed has sunk in water. The door, broken of it's hinges. You rush to the window, knee deep in water. The sight before you is distressing. Your farm is drenched in water. Your mobtrap now serves as a drowning spot for random mobs. Your mineshaft is full of water. You rush to the rooftop, where you click a small button. The house moves slowly but surely on the pistons you installed the last time it rained. The water starts leaking through the door. You drop back down to your porch and start thinking of a way to dry your home.

Personally I'd like the water to rise but I can see why other people wouldn't
I want snow drifts Basically triangular shaped snow blocks that form along the edge of stuff during a snowstorm (all facing the same way) Walking on them would act like walking on a stair block

If he made the flooding thing come true, put like a dirt bubble around it or something.
That's what you get for not planning. I personally play on peaceful and don't care about the survival aspect of the game. I just want to build. I don't want to build something just the way I want it, then go "Ok, time to build a big ugly barricade around it."
