Guys I just got an idea. You know how we can have custom player skins? What about custom item skins? Like each player can have their own custom axes and pics and whatnot?
Guys I just got an idea. You know how we can have custom player skins? What about custom item skins? Like each player can have their own custom axes and pics and whatnot?
i personally think this has the potential to be an amazing idea if implemented correctly
i personally think this has the potential to be an amazing idea if implemented correctly
Actually on second thought it wouldn't work, practically. People could make their skins anything. Excluding the obvious dicks, people could make things like their diamond swords or buckets of lava look like wooden sticks or nothing at all.
IMO Notch needs to make it so biomes are larger... Like dozen times larger, or hell, 25x larger. Anyone else tired of seeing pathetic 6x6 snow biomes in the middle of a place that isn't snowy?
I for one am tired of being able to see both a desert and a winter biome from my window.
Or all the redstone circuitry/torches you'd made are underwater and now broken forcing you to rebuild all of it. Personally I'd like the water to rise but I can see why other people wouldn't
Notch could make thin water blocks (like the snow layer blocks) that appear in low areas during rainstorms and have no effect other than visual
Why not? It would be a whole new challenge. You go to sleep in your house by the sea. In the morning, the bed has sunk in water. The door, broken of it's hinges. You rush to the window, knee deep in water. The sight before you is distressing. Your farm is drenched in water. Your mobtrap now serves as a drowning spot for random mobs. Your mineshaft is full of water. You rush to the rooftop, where you click a small button. The house moves slowly but surely on the pistons you installed the last time it rained. The water starts leaking through the door. You drop back down to your porch and start thinking of a way to dry your home.
Everything you do getting Pointlessly Shit on: The Game

Also when I imagine the water level rising I imagine no more than by half a block, which obviously dissipates after the storm.

Saw this not so long ago, so excited :D
Guys this was already in alpha, does anyone know why he took it out? Me playing in back in the day: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ZsCux.jpg[/img_thumb]
Because back then, when you got a snow world the entire wrold was snowy, which meant that if he kept snow from then it would snow in the entire map, not just snow biomes.
Mojang really need to improve on the farming aspect of the game. There needs to be different crops, maybe you can grow apple trees? Or some wheat would not grow properly and die. Even growing flowers, over time flowers could spread in a small area. What I personally would like to see is different types of foods, and things like knives to cut bread into small slices. Then you would you would go to a countertop and use the two bread slices, one pork, and cheese to make a sandwich. A counter could be made with wood and iron or stone.
Lightning, oh how much life you give to the game.
Counter top = three stone slabs on top of three plank blocks
It would also be nice for a kitchen, I have a room that I want to make into a kitchen, but I don't have anything that I could actually put in there. What needs to happen is, they need to work on a huge content update for a whole month that brings ores, bugfixes, dyes, weapons, mobs, and just a shit ton of stuff that will probably take the average Minecrafter maybe a day to experience all the content. Then do that every month until the game is released. After that, they could fix most of the major bugs.
Yes, absolutely yes.

Mostly because of SMP and bugs that occur there. If Mojang had tried to support the Nether in SMP, the update would have take months longer, but they abandoned it to put the update out in time. Then, months later, modders did exactly that.
MUOAHAHA! Thunder Storms lower the brightness. That means daytime monsters during storms. This is freakily atmospheric.
Oh shit, monster come out during storms.
Mojang/Notch has made 33 millions dollars. Hire some more fucking employees. Perhaps do what Valve does and hire people from the community.
Really? wow...
Also in 1.5: Powered minecart rails and mobs spawning during the day if there's a thunderstorm.

It's not really a huge effort to hire more people they have going on, but they do hire people.
You must not understand how computers work then. I really hate sounding like a prick, but larger texture sizes means more work done by the computer, regardless of language or engine.
I'm not saying for it to run it, I'm saying for it to be able to easily.
Not sure if anyone else would agree with me here but doesn't the Nether just seem like a huge waste of time, gameplay AND development wise? I rarely even go down there since theres nothing to do. And I would have prefered it if the time used creating the Nether was put into adding stuff to the normal Minecraft world.

The Nether was cool for halloween, but it's pretty much useless now. Glowstone is a too expensive alternative to torches. They should drop as blocks when mined with a pick. The netherrack is too easy to destroy, so you'll have a lifetime supply of ever-burning stone after being in the Nether once. It should take about the same time as coal to mine.. I suppose it could be used for faster transportation, but it would have to be a long distance for it to be worth it.

I even had to use it a couple of times when my house was overran by creepers. It's a cool thing, but I agree that more stuff should be added there, to keep it interesting.
Windstorms. You deal with a current of wind that blows you. To avoid it, you need to be indoors. After that, Notch should add... disasters. Tornado!
