On NoX, I always try to be a regular Station Engineer rather than CE so I don't have to deal with the responsibility of endless repairs and EVA access and such, and I don't like hogging the job 24/fucking 7. Regret every fucking time. I was fried within 2 minutes by the then-wonder boy CE who unleashed the plasma cannister at max velocity, then someone detonated a fuel tank. Station was fried within about 6-7 minutes, if you're reading this mister CE in question, 2 middle fingers to you, you silly assistant.

On nox/tg is there a faster way to equip than taking all your shit off and dropping it, then picking up the other item and putting it on?
In goon you just click the inventory icon and it swaps the item you have.

It can be really complicated (thats why you can do so fucking much in this game) but not dorf fortress complicated.
You usually learn as you go, it comes naturally.

The first few rounds will most likely be rather confusing, but after that things go pretty smoothly.

It's pretty simple, there are just a lot of things that are massively counterintuitive or require time to get used to. Also, it can be painful with latency and the like. The main difficulty is in dealing with other players, who are either total assholes, total bros or totally indifferent.
Oh yeah, and in finding out little tricks that might not be explained.

The best things you can learn when you start are basic chemistry, door hacking and the basics of combat to save you from security. Also elect for traitor roles, you will learn them as you play them.
Learn to make thermite and space lube. YOU CAN USE A WELDER ON A WALL TO STRIP IT THEN USE A CROWBAR ON THE GIRDER TO DISLODGE THE REST, LETTING YOU GET IN ALMOST ANYWHERE. That's my top tip, cause anyone who starts with a blue toolbox can instantly do it.

If you get past that the interface consists of clicking everything while holding other things or nothing (except seemingly some stuff needs a drag) and the retarded latency, not terribly
getting good at it (learning everything) is hard but fun learning

I decide to try and open some other doors I obviously wouldn't have access to, and... it works.
On all the fucking doors.
I have all access.
And I do not know why.
No one else has touched my ID card, I have kept it on me this entire time.
And I have access to everywhere, even Captain's Quarters.

Happened to me once. Needed to get into genetics as an MD, only to find that not only did the entire medbay suddenly have all-access, the CMO knew all along and neglected to tell us.
And another story from yesterday:
I was minding my own business in the medbay lobby. It was a quiet shift, everyone was being responsible workers.
Suddenly a guy comes sprinting in carting the first crit of the day.
Naturally I try to put him in cryo ASAP, only to realise he's gone into crit not from brute or anything, but from having [I]150% toxin damage.[/I]
Five minutes and one empty nano-med later, the guy finally stabilizes, so I ask him how the hell he racked up 150% toxins.
Turns out, he'd gotten so bored that he'd taken a bet and tried to snort a canister of plasma :v:.

That might have been what happened since they use a semi-old version of /TG/ code that they branched off from.
