No matter how you put it, we got tricked by valve in thinking the ARG would have a nice ending, with a rainbow at the end. All we got was a horse-kick to the stomach.
The ARG isn't over. http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1079821-Potatwo-The-Valve-ARG-Ain%E2%80%99t-Over
If you're going to bitch about buying the potato sack, think about this for a second- Who's more foolish, the fool or the fool who payed 39$ to TRY and get a god damn game to be released JUST 2 DAYS EARLY.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but most of the bitching is directed at the event itself and the flawed logic behind it - especially the concept of the number of players owning a game slowing down the progress per hour put in that game - and not at the potato sack. I am sure some would disagree, but I actually consider it to be a good offer. Amnesia and Super Meat Boy are just very good games that deserved the good press they got. Defense Grid and Killing Floor have been widely recognized as good games as well. Audiosurf, AAAAAA!!! and Kick It are nice to have if you like to relax and listen to some music once in a while and I have found both RUSH and The Ball to be surprisingly entertaining puzzle games. Toki Tori and the Wonderful End of The World somewhat feel more like free games and I guess I would not have bought them outside of the potato sack, but I enjoyed them for a while. Cogs is honestly the only one I don't enjoy. That's just me though - I can see others having a lot of fun with it. In the end some people might have bought the potato sack only to get Portal 2 earlier and they might feel cheated, but still I believe most of the bitching is about the event being a very disappointing conclusion to the ARG.
Jeep Barnett has apparently been taken over by GLaDOS. Maybe we should cautiously disregard Jeep's prior statement that anything other than GLaDOS@HOME is irrelevant to the ARG, or take into account that his GLaDOS-like behavior could be him trolling based on him just saying that GLaDOS@HOME is all that is relevant. Shit , I'm poor i don't have $ for portal 2 . But I'm still going to help .
The ARG isn't ending with portal 2 being released, argument invalid.
Proof? It has been hinted by Jeep that it might actually end with the release. Either way it would just be a disappointing phase instead of a conclusion. Does not make this event any better at all. ;)
Posted proof, look at the post.
Yeah, that edit was not up when I wrote this. :P That might not mean anything at all though. The way he clearly refers to trolling before does not seem like the statement is part of the ARG/his role as being taken over as well. I am not saying there is not way the ARG will continue. We just do not know for sure at this point.

For some reason, the speed has increased for KF whereas the number of CPU decreased...
If the estimate release time is correct then I can get up at 6am, enjoy a nice breakfast and then sit down with Portal 2 at 20 past 8am. Me like.
For some reason, the speed has increased for KF whereas the number of CPU decreased...
http://valvearg.com/wiki/Template:News
~04:00: Glados at home alert.png It appears at a glance that the calculation rates for GLaDOS@home have increased somewhat over the past some hours. This is not yet confirmed; but simply hypothesized by the unusually large amount of progress towards the especially slow-progressing games, such as Killing Floor.

No matter how you put it, we got tricked by valve in thinking the ARG would have a nice ending, with a rainbow at the end. It appears that the less CPU are connected, the more the "auxiliary power" of potatoes takes control. That's it, as a theory more and more present on some forums.
Are you using a custom script that changes the projected time?
Umm yes, but I checked at school and the timer was at 21 hours when I left to go home, and was at about 20 when I got home.
Any idea what the estimated time of release is for GMT+1?
Are you using a custom script that changes the projected time?
they are. edit: :ninja:
Umm yes, but I checked at school and the timer was at 21 hours when I left to go home, and was at about 20 when I got home.
These script timers aren't accurate.
Everyone, quit playing the potato games. AUX power alone has made the KF bar move up two hours in the last 15 minutes.
Everyone, quit playing the potato games. AUX power alone has made the KF bar move up two hours in the last 15 minutes.
No super meat boy is fun :colbert:
Everyone, quit playing the potato games. AUX power alone has made the KF bar move up two hours in the last 15 minutes.
how does a bar move up in hours?
The theory that is most accepted now is that, when you stop playing, the AUX power takes over. That AUX force has more energy then actually playing the game, so the bar moves up faster. At least, that is the general idea
