I have SMB and Audiosurf, so I go for SMB.

The time seems to be unrelated. Portal 2 will be released when all the bars are full, period. And in that case, it is best to go for the lowest bar so everyone can keep contributing.

The countdown refers to when the game is launched. 50 minutes was shaved off when WEOTW was complete.
So the game won't be released if we have all bars full?
Guess that's a possibility too.
