This is a brilliant marketting opportunity for Valve. Not only will it help them obtain better profits from those indie games and increase their sales dramatically, but it will also show that Valve don't just release great games: They also give their PC community a bigger influence on the future of those games, giving them the priviledge of having a better connection with the developper. Sure, we all know deep down that those "potatoes" aren't really "using those additionnal CPUs" to "reboot GLaDOS faster". But believing it makes it feel like you're part of the whole Portal storyline. We really feel as if we, as gamers, need to work as a team to release a game earlier even though we will still be able to play it one day or another. Same thing happened with the 99$ Japanese hats in TF2, and here it was for a real cause which really made a difference in the world. What i'm trying to say in the end is, if Valve is able to use all this team spirit within the steam community in order to making the world a better place, we will, on a global scale, be able to make our world a better place. But only time will tell if Valve has the wisdom to give us the peaceful, interdependant world we need to grow as a species. If you think I'm trolling, I advise you to stop thinking so imediately and reconsider your conception of a troll. I'm merely giving my oppinion about how Valve can change our world for the greater good of our society.
Well, I can't help. I will just wait.

http://geiti.co.uk/sandbox/portal.php Geit made this prediction script, currently it reckons early Tuesday morning.
Shit, when I get home I'm going to play the fuck out of Killing Floor and Super Meat Boy.
http://geiti.co.uk/sandbox/portal.php Geit made this prediction script, currently it reckons early Tuesday morning.
Well that's not much of an early release. :saddowns:
http://geiti.co.uk/sandbox/portal.php Geit made this prediction script, currently it reckons early Tuesday morning.
I leave at 4AM GMT saturday. I doubt I'll be able to play it either way.
Half way done the 3rd bar. We need more people... its almost 2 EST, that should give us the East Coast after school in the couple hours. So it just hit 2pm EST, high-schoolers should be getting out soon.

Oh dear god my Steam crashed, forget about me, just keep help-*click*
We have 3 full bars (we started with 1 complete already)

i have killing floor and SMB idling. i have been idling in the same SMB level for 3075 seconds :v:
you guys are all impatient
you guys are all impatient
They're giving us the opportunity to have it early, why are we impatient for trying to seize that opportunity?
Activision's take on this: "Buy CoD Blackp Ops or CoD MW2 and we'll improve MW3's performance!"
more like "If you don't buy Cod BlackOps or MW2 we'll downgrade MW3's performance"
Apparently, you have to actually play the game, not just idle according to some.
How can steam tell [editline]15th April 2011[/editline] 4th bar just started.
Nevermind, I just read another thread about it.
I died 11 times on 4-19 of Super Meat Boy and Steam sent me a message saying *Error Unrecognized User*. I'm guessing I didn't get the potato?
So we need to do this shit but consoles got it leaked already. A+
So this is where potato fool's day was leading up to, clever as hell.
why is the TWEOTW's graph so high?
Does anyone know if the potato pack sale will still end on the set release date even if Portal 2 is released early? I'm waiting for some money to transfer to my Paypal and I wasn't counting on an early release.
All I can think of is that this is what I expect to pop up in farmville. "You've found a shut-down Glados! Help the Glados restart by gathering Potatoes!" I really wish I could be excited about this, but with the end of term comes little time to play games. I've decided to be completely apathetic about Portal 2 until break starts
So we need to do this shit but consoles got it leaked already. A+
So you guys get the game early legitimately but consoles have to wait till it comes out to get it legitimately. A+ :colbert:
Does anyone have a Super Meat Boy save I can use so I can get more Potatoes and actually play the game instead of ending the game every 10 mins in rage thus meaning less CPU power.
Are potatoes good or bad?
