The point is, an early release at this point, only about 48 hours from release, should not be worth this much work. Right now, the amount of hours and skill we have to put in is amazingly high to get a game that we were all willing to wait well over two years for to play is absurdly high.

This seems kind of mean of Valve IMO. I mean they've had the game done and are teasing us with an early release, if nothing happens at 50% screw the whole thing.
