Get a rapid fire shotgun, run up those stairs and aim down, the bloodsuckers have to be pigeon-holed to get you and you'll end up wiping the floor with them.

It's weird because I get no "xrengine has stopped working" or any sort of message - just a black screen where I'm forced to close the game from the task manager. loaded up clear sky for the first time in a long time with the TFW mod, went to go sell some stuff to the Clear Sky trader forgot i had -9000 rubles and I couldn't even sell my own stuff I was so far in debt :l
going back to uni today! back to my pc (now with 32GB RAM) and redux :)
I need to give SoC another go. I was given it by a kind person in this thread, and I played it for a while and enjoyed it, but kind of lost interest after my save file corrupted somehow, but I think I would be up for trying again. I asked this before I think, but may as well ask again; should I play without mods for my first proper playthrough? Obviously I don't want an overhaul or anything, but are there are any good bug fix / tweak mods that are recommended?

Playing CoP. started a new game for the first time so far i've found two out of the three choppers in the first area. and i've run into a merc camp just east of iron forest. (where one of the choppers crashed down.) i accidently run in, ignoring their warnings of 'put your weapon down'. one shootout later, i'm now carrying a large merc squads worth of weapons then over my PDA i hear: [B]"WARNING STALKERS, AN EMISSION IS DUE SOON, GET TO COVER!"[/B] where i currently am, there is not a single place i can run to in the time limit i've tried hiding in every single spot i can see that is inside their camp and nothing has worked So, i dump all my weapons i can spare and make a mad dash for iron forest I don't make it in time. So, this time I drop everything i can, all weapons except pistol ammo food. the lot I [I]still [/I]don't make it in time. Exit game. Delete save. Start new game.

Start new game.[/QUOTE] The emission safe zone is in the tunnels below that base, in the sewer area. I know, it's horribly conveyed. It took me 10+ saves to find it one time.
